Review from Annie C.
Kingston, ON
Lots of beer on tap. Quiet, cozy atmosphere inside. Decent nachos. Has sort of a dive-y feel to it without having your hands stick to the table when you rest them on the table. Could (and have) happily drink here alone, with one other or with five friends. That and it's but three blocks from my apartment! Perfect!
I've heard that the fish and chips here is pretty spot on as well, but as a veggie I can't say firsthand. -

A Kingston classic. Good fish and chips. I'd stay away from the rest of the menu. The smoked cod is reliable. You're not going for ambiance - you're going for fish and chips.
Not Murphy's, but Murphy's is gone. -

This is a must-visit for anyone visiting Kingston. I live in Montreal and this is my Montreal-Toronto stopover for lunch or dinner every time. And they have Creemore beer!

This place is the third in a trinity of places I like to hit when I'm in Kingston. Different from the homebrewy-ness of the Kingston Brewing Company (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) and the dead-on Irishness of The Toucan (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...), the Pilot House is a great small hole-in-the-wall British pub.
It sits close to the Kingston downtown waterfront and definitely shows its age. It's been around for a while and has the beer-stains and marks to prove it. Do not, however, think for a second that this place is not a good place to go. Treat yourself to a place at the bar, stand, and order a plate of the best fish and chips in town. At least that's what they say, but you'd be hard-pressed to find better in Kingston. What makes it really good? You can pick your fish, from haddock to halibut. Add to this some great pub food like Scotch eggs, cheese and union pies, and thirteen beers on tap and you've got a place that is fantastic to get to.
Seriously, you have to try the fish and chips. -
Review from Verona R.
A great local watering hole that does the fish and chips right. They have a wide variety of fishies...running the gamut from flounder, cod, haddock, and even smoked cod. Oh...the fries are done in beef fat...which in the States (particularly in Bloomberg's NYC), would be grounds for shutting down the joint. They are mighty tasty...and coupled with an icy Creemore...is like a pig in a dungheep!

Fish and chips and beer and deck in Summer. Nothing else. The company you bring will likely be the highlight.
