The Pet Shop Boys is the only place I trust my baby with for daycare and home boarding. Chris and David are extremely knowledgeable about dogs and truly passionate about their work. The pet accessories sold at TPSB are pricey but truly one-of-a-kind: you won't find the same stuff being sold anywhere else in Vancouver. Plus, you can always come back to shop whenever they're having a sale.
But what makes this place truly stand out as the best is the superb quality of their daycare and home boarding service.
-All pets are assessed for aggression, compatibility and up-to-date immunizations before being accepted for daycare, so you know it's a safe environment for your pet.
-All dogs are kept in the general play area which is spacious, observable through the windows and most importantly CLEAN. I noticed that most other daycare places keep the dogs hidden away in the backroom; so to be able to see for yourself what the dogs are up to is refreshing.
-They take tons of cute pictures and videos of your dog while at daycare. I actually made a laminated wallet-sized copy of the Christmas picture they took of my dog to carry around: it was that cute!
-It's a great opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs of various sizes (big and small) and with people.
-They take the dogs out regularly for walks so if you happen to have a puppy who won't stop having accidents all over your carpet, this might be your chance to potty-train your pooch.
My dog can't stop wagging her tail in excitement whenever I drop her off at the pet shop boys. That's all the confirmation I need that the staff there are spoiling her rotten. -

This is a lovely and well-designed shop of fanciful furkid finds for every occasion -from little doggy shoes to sequined pink leather collars to Tiffany's-inspired chew toys. Basically it's Paris Hilton's dreams come true. You half expect Tinkerbell (her chihuahua, obvi) to be hanging out in the attached doggy day care and spa.
It was fun to poke around the shop despite it not really being my style of pet store. I was admittedly a little thrown when informed that photos were not permitted inside (I was just trying to get a Yelp photo uploaded, y'all!) which is never really the first interaction I want from a store owner, but hey - I'm not the boss.
Loved the little peekaboo windows into the doggy day care section! Peeking in on cute, sleepy puppies makes up for everything always.Listed in: Vancouver, BC

For 33 years I worked in the customer service field dealing directly with the public. Chris and David consistently not only provide a genuine warm welcome when you walk through their doors, but excellent customer service and satisfaction, always into resolution, no matter who is right or wrong.
After reading some of the complaints below, I feel compelled to speak out.
First of all The Pet Shop Boys prices are current and fair. Personally I feel it's the pet owner's fault if you've chosen not to stay on top of the grooming and additional dematting is needed. In my price quote, they do factor in 15 minutes for tackling my neglect, then the clock starts ticking like any other dog grooming salon. I've brought my dogs in for grooming, not for free dog sitting. Given grooming space is at a premium, yes I'm expected (and have agreed) to pick up my woofs in a timely manner. And if you I should need to leave my dog there longer, tell me where on earth in Vancouver would I find a certified dog sitter for $8.00 per hour? Sounds like a sweet deal to me!
They say whatever we choose to do in life as a career, it should be with passion. David and Chris are passionate about their business. They are also compassionate. Meet their rescued Great Dane Drake. Chris and David are two of the kindest most diplomatic professionals that i have had the pleasure of dealing with on an ongoing basis.
The Pet Shop Boys gets five woofs. They are easy on the eyes too!

This is my first Yelp review - I often use Yelp but have never felt strongly enough about anything to sign up and put in some time.... until now.
I need to tell you about the best doggie daycare in the city.
Using the Pet Shop Boys doggie daycare for the last three months has been my boyfriend and my absolute best decision (besides actually buying our French Bulldog/Boston Terrier puppy Paisley, of course). When we first welcomed our puppy into our home and were looking for daycares we visited 6 different facilities in Vancouver. (I know, we were puppy crazed ;)
We found some other daycares were too large, some weren't encouraging play, some smelled awful, some had unfriendly/bored looking staff, but one of our number one concerns was that many allowed the dogs to go to the washroom on outdoor concrete, simulated grass or inside. We had been working SO hard to potty train our three month old that the idea of having our work undone was hard to swallow. When we first visited, staff were warm and wanted to do an assessment of our puppy to ensure she was a good candidate for daycare. This step reassured us that they were in the business for more than just money, and that the dogs she would be interacting with would be healthy and well-socialized.
At the Pet Shop Boys (TPSB) they take the dogs outside for all their bathroom breaks and take them for little walks during the day. Their extra efforts to support our training at home go beyond potty training. They were very conscious of Paisley's need for puppy naps, allowing us to bring in our own crate and giving her play breaks. The staff lovingly made sure she was fed at whatever time of the day we thought would be best, and went out of their way to monitor and communicate any changes in Paisley's behaviour.
Paisley LOVES going to TPSB, and has made many doggy friends. Now at six months old, she is fantastically socialized and can play with dogs of any size and breed. At puppy kindergarten, our trainer has commented numerous times about how comfortable she is with all dogs, new people and new situations. TPSB gets full credit for providing an environment to foster healthy play and allow her to learn appropriate doggie etiquette. She has come home tired and happy every day she has attended daycare.
The owners of TPSB, Christopher and David, are a constant presence in their shop. They truly attend to every detail of their business and it is clear that they care immensely about every dog that walks through the door. They always have smiles on their faces and have alleviated many concerns and questions we have had with being new puppy owners.
One of our favourite things about PSB is their blog. They post pictures and videos of the dogs interacting and having a blast during the day. It's been wonderful to watch Paisley in action and to share the link with family and friends. They go over and above with their service.
To all your amazing staff at TPSB - thank you so very much.
To anyone considering dog services or products - there is nothing better in this city than The Pet Shop Boys.

OMG- check my pictures to see what they did to her for their "Christmas Surprise"- hysterical! I didn't even try the antlers this year- thought there was no way she'd put up with it, and they got her in the antlers and the jingle collar and the jacket. So funny!

Love this place. They offer a spa like pampering service for your dog. Rather than drying them in cages or tying them up with a fan in their face, everything is done by hand and with love. The cuts can be a bit pricey, but worth it. They also offer things like taking care of those nasty anal glands (ew) at no additional charge. Nice.

Definitely a big fan of The Pet Shop Boys's "godogwalk" services. Our pup has been going on a sporadic basis (we use them for a walk or day care probably 4-6 times a month) since he was about 8 months, and while I was nervous about whether he'd pass muster to be able to go, I was really glad they wanted such a thorough check into whether he was a good fit or not because it makes me feel comfortable to know the dogs our dog is around are good!
They have been very, very accommodating, letting our dog come for day care or along for a walk at the last minute. They are also very detail oriented - they make sure that if they walk your dog (or take him on one o the awesome mountain hikes) that they clean off his paws and dry him off well before they let him back in your house. And - they sent out the sweetest holiday cards featuring your own pet - a really nice touch.
All in all, I love going in and saying hi to everyone that works there, and our dog LOVES the days when he has to go. Oh - and I am also a big fan of their initiatives to support animal shelters and other rescue agencies!! They hold great fundraisers. -

I love this place but my pup isn't allowed back.... for now.
Chris & David are super friendly and the shop is so gorgeous. I haven't purchased anything here for Miley but I did purchase a lamp berger here which I love to death! it's an air freshener/purifier and it works wonders!
I was bringing my pup here on my long days at work but recently have not been able to because she's been having too many accidents there and they said that it gets too messy with all the other dogs around who trample all over it. It does sound gross doesn't it? Been told that I may need to work on housetraining her better but thing is, she has no accidents at home! Chris & David said she will be welcome back one day.. when she is better I guess.
I like the fact that they take the dogs out 3 times a day and have a very good routine for the dogs which is why I was taking my pup there so hopefully, maybe one day, my pup can go back! -

So I'm all for spoiling your pets, but I draw the line at dog psychic and reiki treatments -- but if those types of splurges are your thing, you can find that and much much more at Pet Shop Boys.
What I *can* appreciate about them: awesome hours for day care (they're open 7-7), spotless facilities, and a truly decadent store for all things dog. It's a great place to find a treat or special gift for your four-legged friend. The owner is super nice and spent a good chunk of time telling me about their store and services.
Be sure to check out the mini dogs embedded in their crystal chandelier. (Yes, I said crystal. And chandelier. In a dog store.) -

so I brought 4 groupon deals at this place and I don't think I'll use the last coupon. What a rip off.... they ding you for every little thing and at the end, it's 2 times than what you get at another place. I brought my dog in for grooming and since i was 1 hour late picking up my dog, they charge me a boarding fee... seriously. Give me a break!! How do you expect your customer to drop the dog, wait around for an hour and a half and pick up your pet right on the dot?
As well, any additional service they do is extra..... at the end I got charged an extra 28 dollars on top.
I will never go back there again. It's not right to keep on adding small fees to the customer, at the end the customer ends up with a big bill for grooming.Comment from David and Christopher R. of The Pet Shop Boys 3/22/2011

A colleague of mind came by with the cutest gift for my little Rocco. His very own Jimmy Chew shoe squeezy toy. She bought the toy at Vancouver's newest pet destination - The Pet Shop Boys.
Located just south over the Cambie bridge, The Pet Shop Boys is a new exciting luxury boutique, spa and daycare for dogs. Show casing dog wares from European companies like Petsonality from Spain, Une Vie de Chateau and DoggiDog from Paris, your dog will be well styled and living large.
For more information on their doggy daycare and spa services you can contact them directly at the shop. -

These are great peope and super helpful. I love the drop-in daycare too and really cheap. Sometimes we are out in the car and want to go shopping somewhere they don't allow dogs, and Chris & David and the staff are always ready to greet us and hug our little dogs and look after them for us on no notice. Try http://www.thepetshopb... for really nice people. And compared to the horrible service at Barking Babies, I highly recommend them for their genuine love for OTHER PEOPLE'S DOGS.
PS they have online booking calendars for walking &daycare & boarding etc. at their other website, http://www.godogwalk.com, which makes life really easy if you can plan ahead, and they even do pickup and delivery. You guys are great and deserve all your good press.
