The first time I ever went to Victoria, I feel in love with The Patch. A first year University student with a fondness for "ironic" old lady sweaters, jackets that looked like couch patterns, and silk flower hair pieces, I was all over it. An avid vintage picker myself, the thing I like about The Patch is they do the hard work for you. :)
Last time I was in Victoria, The Patch seemed slightly less vibrant than it used to be, but I am willing to bet it's also because my tastes have altered slightly. I did still manage to find a gorgeous Cowichan sweater, that kept me cozy all winter long this year.
The patch also has a large selection of body jewellery and accessories, if you're into that. I've always purchased my jewellery at my piercing shop of choice, though.
You're pretty alright, The Patch. Pretty okay.

I've now been to this store a couple of times and I really like the way it's laid out. Men's stuff is on one side, women's another. The back seems to be for winter coats and heavier sweaters. The front was full of pretty dresses and jewellery while accessories were sort of around the middle.

I found myself 2 cute dresses, one still with the original Roxy label attached. They were each around the $20 mark. The dress had a small tear in it so they gave me a discount. My friend got a gorgeous vintage coat and one button was in the pocket. They gave her a 10% discount.

The staff were all very hip and pleasant. I overheard them offering to help someone who was looking at the jewellery cases so you knew they were there but there weren't stalking customers. I like that.

I love the Patch. Hailing from Vancouver I am always expecting second hand stores to be horribly over priced and picked through and neither of those are true at the Patch.

With their re-opened expanded store there is no shortage of leather jackets, vests, dresses, jeans and more. I was really impressed with their selection of old man sweaters, perfect for a snowy day!

I love their selection, it's always changing and they have great sales. I HIGHLY recommend.

    Love The Patch!!
I'm a total bargain hunter when it comes to clothes and it feels really awesome to find really cool shirts at great prices.  It does take some time to find stuff though and I often walk out without buying something, but when I do manage to find something, I'm super happy :D

Thanks to the advice of an extremely helpful and cool guy at a gift shop on government street, I discovered THE PATCH. And oh my god, oh my god, OH MY GOD. THE PATCH. Oh my sweet lord, children, this is the most GLORIOUS VINTAGE SHOP I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!  It is vintage shopping NIRVANA. I was in complete and utter EUPHORIA. In my excitement I nearly passed out from hyperventilation as i grabbed bags, scarves, shirts, and belts. It's like Goodwill, Redlight and Backstage Thrift but instead of spending hours sorting through complete junk in order to find those rare treasures, everything in the store is totally hot hot hot hot HOT!!! I was told by a sales clerk that they receive much of their vintage merchandise from Toronto. I was praising the vintage fashion gods and I swear I had died and gone to heaven. I just wish I had more time to shop before my #$^&#@* ferry left!!

The Patch is an enigma to me. Sometimes, you can visit them and leave with armloads of amazing finds: shirts, pants, skirts, outerwear, purses, you name it! Other times, the store is filled with clothes that should be sent to an industrial shredder and used to fill pillows. You definitely have to go often, because they change their stock pretty regularly. One thing that is constant is their amazing selection of jewelry made from metals, bone, wood, etc.

Large selection of organic and steel jewelery.  Vintage/used clothing but not an overpacked store.  I guess they filter it for people because I've usually had no trouble finding something good to wear (I'm a guy, but they have stuff for girls too).  Good atmosphere, friendly employees.

Would have given it 5, but I don't think a clothing store can get 5 in my books.
