A vague disclaimer is nobody's friend...so let me be perfectly clear - I love paper (wrapping, stationary, and tissue). Not enough to unhealthily obsess over it but enough that I will go into any and every store that sells it.
And so it was that on a lunch break from work, I happily discovered a second location of one of my favourite stores. I actually had some cards I needed to pick up for some upcoming occasions so it gave me the perfect excuse to go in.
They had a great selection of cards...found everything I needed and a few I didn't but bought anyway. They also have a fabulous selection of stationary, journals/guestbooks/organizers/etc, wrapping paper/bags/fancy packaging, etc. It did seem to have a slightly smaller selection of ribbon and special wrapping then it's Cumberland counterpart - but that's just based on memory, so don't count that as 100% fact. They also have a nice selection of little gifts for a wide variety of occasions...which came in handy since I realized I should really get a couple of somethings to go along with the cards.
I also wanted to take a moment to compliment the service. I found everything I was looking for but as I was wandering and admiring, I heard several people come in with pretty specific needs and wants and the two ladies working there were extremely helpful, kind and knowledgeable.
I'll definitely be back - most likely to buy some of that fabulous quality wallpaper as I think it'll prove to make excellent wall art when framed! -

The Papery is such an adorable store!
For someone who loves photo albums, nice stationery and random gift ideas when I can't think of something to purchase for others, this store is definitely a lifesaver.
The albums are one of my favourites because they come in a large size and have pretty yet simple designs incorporated into the cover.
As for random gift ideas this store offers, they have cool things like cute recipe boxes for the kitchen, fashionable washing gloves for your sink and garden tools.
One thing they sell that is useful and stylish is their leather bound organizers.
One thing about this store is things do cost, so don't expect the prices to be like you would find at Grand & Toy, Staples and Home Depot.
Otherwise, it is a very cute store with two locations in Toronto - one on Yonge just south of St. Clair and one in Yorkville! -

I don't know if this is nerdy or if many people grew up having the same fetish as me but I am obsessed with pens, notebooks, paper, binders, erasers, reinforcements, folders etc. When I was a kid my mom used to take me school supply shopping and it was better than the last day of school for me. I would run up and down the aisles touching everything my chubby fingers could reach.
Now that I am slightly older, I have a more refined taste for stationary stores and I refuse to enter a giant box store like staples to get my fix. Oh and I no longer need school supplies, so I shop for fancy paper instead.
The Papery is a lovely paper store on Yonge St. that I respect for selling exactly what you expect it would, paper. The papery offers reels of beautiful patterned gift wrap and gift bags, amazing bows and unique little ideas to adorn ones gifts. If you expect to find gifts to put inside the wrapping, better change that inclination fast unless of course you intend to wrap a roll of wrapping paper -- an ideal gift for anyone with my bizarre affinities.
A little warning: Often tape does not adhere to the very expensive papers (especially the sparkly, shiny ones) so make sure you ask the counter ladies to try it out first.
