As a fibre addict (paper, wool, fabric) this store goes a long way to giving me my fix.  With a lovely selection of gift cards, journals, stickers, ribbon and a small but lovely selection of scrapbooking and card making paper/supplies, it's lovely to browse in and almost impossible to walk away from without a purchase.

In addition to my 'drug' of choice, they have some fun small gift and decor options.

Everything is beautifully displayed.  Staff are friendly.  This surprise me - but dogs are welcome.  (Apparantly most Glebe stores allow dogs... who knew?  Love it!)  If you are a vistor to Ottawa, it's in an area that's lovely to walk on a sunny day.

    Would I return?  Yes
    Would I recommend:  Yes

In my opinion this is the Glebe's best store.  Be prepared to shell out a bit more for cards and stationary but overall the quality and ideas you'll find in this story are totally worth it.

Many of the cards are from local artists or come from unique lines of stationary.  It's also an excellent store for anyone who does crafts or scrap booking.

The staff are nice but are usually quite busy and around the holidays you may find yourself in a line in this busy shop.

If you have someone on your list who you really want to impress with nice stationary or wrapping paper, etc. then you can really find some neat stuff here.

It's a trendy shop in a very trendy part of town.

Since moving to the Glebe, this is always the place I go when I'm looking for a card for any occasion. Their selection constantly changes and whatever I buy, I know the distinctive originality of The Papery's cards will make at least a small impression on the person who will eventually receive it.

They also sell many other items, including notebooks, wrapping paper, kitschy toys and games, scrapbooking materials, pens, ribbons, stickers, calendars, party favours, lotion, candles and hobby books. This is a great place to go if you want to get all your gift shopping done in one store, although the high prices may not be worth it. Plus most people see through the effort put into buying a blank notebook, candles or trinkets.

Have you ever felt the compulsion to buy lots and lots of stationary?  If not, and you'd like to experience this particular sensation, then I highly recommend going to the Papery.
This is a place that I could (and have) spend hours in.  I love everything about this store from the creaky floorboards to the whimsical window displays.  There is a kind of old world magic about this store that inspires you to forget about email and remember the taste of glue from sealing a hand written letter.  Or am I the only person in the world who likes the taste of glue?

The Papery is like a candy store for creative types! For lack of a better description, the place is just pretty. They have scrapbooking paper and stickers, cards, stationary, wrapping paper, pens and markers, strings and ribbons, decorations, gifts, collectible items.. the list goes on. For a smaller space, it's very impressive how much inventory they actually have. As a scrapbooker myself, this place is kind of my dream! I dropped in during the fall to take a look around and they had all of the Halloween and even some Christmas items out. All of their items have a more sophisticated feel to them, unlike the cheap cards and paper you'll find at more generic stores. Some of the items can be semi-expensive when buying more than a couple, but if you're looking for something a bit more unique, this is the place to look.

Need a card?  Look no further than The Papery, in the Glebe neighborhood.  Unlike other similar shops, The Papery stays mostly true to its name by selling primarily tasteful items made of paper and small gift items.

Well organized with a large selection, this is a one stop shopping destination for all of your card and stationary needs.

Well, the name doesn't lie. The Papery is all things paper - notebooks, greeting cards, journals, day planners, wrapping paper, gift bags... they even had a selection of really cool, vintage style post cards featuring Marvel comic and sci-fi pulp book art. Apart from paper products, they also had paper-related stuff like cool pens, fridge magnets, frames, etc. They even had these neat cell phone holders that you rest your cell phone on while it is charging in a wall outlet. The prices were a little higher than your typical Hallmark-esque store, but they really had some wonderfully hip and funky products that would be hard to find elsewhere. What really blew me away about the Papery was the staff. They seemed to know their customers on a first-name basis, which speaks to the customer loyalty and the staff's thoughtfulness. The parking is street parking with a meter, but since The Papery is on the corner of Bank and 5th, you could just try around the corner on Monk St. or Howick St. to the east.
