what was most evident and pleasing about this store was its attention to colour and subject detail.
as you moved from nook to cranny, each step along the way you found things in yellow, or things in red and so on.
i first stumbled onto a classic linoleum? table from the fifties. i dont even know what its made of but its surrounded by a metal border, usually has some funky little pattern and comes in pastelly colours. this one was green and flanked by vinyl chairs also in green.
you could look to your left and see dish sets in red - not necessarily all red, but red-themed. and if not organized by colour, then it was organized by subject matter like, technology. here you saw those archaic instruments us heathens used to use to relay important messages like The Rotary Phone or to prepare important missives for those in battle like The Typewriter.
Ah, that time in life when you werent called a sissy if you used the word "swell", or for that matter a time when people USED the word "sissy". now its just relegated for one actress that we only see every so often in films. harumph.
well if the fedoras that are creeping up are any indication of how things are going, The Painted Table, might very well be ahead of its time.
