This is Ottawa's most popular daily newspaper and for good reason.
The Citizen has a fleet of reporters and they cover local stories really quite well. Their sports section may not be as strong as their rival over at the Ottawa Sun but I've submitted local tips to them for sporting events and they usually get back to me quickly and will publish the information.
The best thing about the Citizen has to be their weekend paper. They publish a large Saturday paper that is essential reading material for any curious person living in the Ottawa region. Pick it up and grab a coffee and take the morning to enjoy some quality journalism and fresh perspective.
It costs more than the Ottawa Sun but they do have, in my opinion, superior quality. -

The Ottawa Citizen is the capital city's major newspaper. It's most people's first choice for actual news. The other papers don't meet the same kind of standards as the Citizen, as it really does have better, more in-depth content and quality of writing. Though its reporting is more on the serious side with hard-hitting news, it does appeal to different ages and is generally quite easy to read and understand. It's also true that their Saturday paper is probably the best because of how much news is included. I'm not a big newspaper reader, but whenever I do have the chance to read any paper, it's definitely this one. When I was a student at Carleton, they even offered to deliver the paper to the residences for a discounted price, which I really appreciated.
