**If there was a sixth star available The Orange Room easily would have achieved it today**

After months of the Orange Room being on my Try List thanks to the gluten free option, I finally made my way there with my fella for brunch today. It was a great decision - for the fact our food took forever the experience was fantastic. Honestly, service has to be impeccable to compensate for that.

Walking in the place was obviously in the midst of the noon time rush. We waited a few minutes to be seated; the tables were all take and we were told the wait was about 25 minutes, or we could sit at the couch or bar. We chose ot sit at the bar.

I was automatically a big fan of the French inspired decor, the wall color was a nice orange, and had some classic Parisian photos. I liked the rot-iron mirror as well. Oh, and the orange trees were a nice touch.

Our first step was coffee. Always essential to enter the fully wakeful state. Can I just state that was the first point of amazingness. The coffee is not only organic, but also direct free trade, and the taste was incredible! The brunch menu was extensive. I pretty quickly narrowed in on the garden omelette; my fella took a bit longer to decide. I have to say I was a little disappointed as they were out of the gluten free bread option, which I was really excited about, but this has happened at other places as well.

We were sitting at the bar, and the owner was working behind the bar so we had the pleasure of conversing with her throughout our time there. I will say, we were there a while. Just over an hour and a half. We had apologies for the time to get our food (we were informed there were three staff no shows that day  and we arrived last during a rush, so kinda bad timing on our part). But we were in no rush anyway, and were enjoying the coffee and chatting with each other and the owner when she was in the vicinity. She also brought over the drinks and dinner menu for us to peruse for future reference.

As we were waiting the owner apologized a few times for the wait and told us they try to have a 20 minute turnaround for orders and ours was taking an unusually long time. She  made me a mimosa, with get this, rose champagne! How fabulous is a pink champagne mimosa on a Sunday!

When our food arrive it was totally worth the wait. I omitted the mushrooms from my omelette, so it contained zucchini, sauteed onions, tomato pesto and havarti cheese. I'm no a huge egg person, but the fillings were amazing. And the potatoes - made this Irish girl happy they were so tasty!

My fella is now obsessed with their smoked ketsup, which we were informed is made in house. He even got to take home the leftover ketsup in a take away container (the server was so awesome for packing that up for him) which made his day.

When we received our bill our coffees were not included, my fella informed the owner, and she said yes that was intentional. This sort of customer-centric focus is a win. We weren't really bothered with the wait, and did not expect anything for it, but the fact they were so generous as a result was impressive and just made our experience that much better.

We will definately be back to check out the dinner menu which as a good range of dishes at different price points and some bevvies. Especially since I was told they can serve the hamburger with the gluten free bread!

This place easily earned a double gun with a hair flip from me today (that's very high on my rating scale BTW). If you are in the mood for some fancy brunch you really need to try this place out!

Vive le difference! The last time I came here it was under the old ownership and they couldn't even get muffins and coffee right. This time, with the new owners, what can I say but wow, that's a tasty brunch.

Going with the French theme of the restaurant, with its black and white photos of Paree decorating the deep orange walls, we had French toast drizzled in chocolate and the French Benny - eggs served on croissants with homemade hollandaise. The coffee was pretty good, too!

I don't normally do the fancy brunch thing, but the Orange Room has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere and very nice, efficient service. It's a nice step up from the usual down-home diners in the neighbourhood, not that there's anything wrong with that.

We're definitely going to be back to try the dinner menu.

I don't come out this way often but it was time we finally met near the where one of my friends lives - she's been giving this place two thumbs up so a group of us came by this weekend.

Aside from getting lost in New West even with my GPS and tackling some scary hills, the resto was actually quite easy to find.  A block away from the Royal City Mall and lots of street parking around.  (Just a tip, it's free if you park a block over on 5th St - no meters!)

Prices are quite inexpensive and service is good.  All breakfast items were $10 and under.  I had the smoked salmon omelet for $10.  Great value, although it was WAY too eggy and not enough salmon.

Came with some fresh fruit, excellent hash browns and toast.  Some unique features are the house-made orange butter that they serve with your toast, and they have a smoked ketchup that tastes like a mix of BBQ sauce and ketchup which is quite tasty.  Nice use of free range meats and eggs so you can feel good while you eat!

It's a good brunch spot if you're in the area but I wouldn't specially make a trip out this way.  My friend said the lunch and tapas items are quite good so might be worth checking out if you're nearby!

The Orange Room has become a regular spot for lunch.

The food is a great change from the rest available in the area.  I haven't had something I wouldn't order again and the daily soups never disappoint!  Always seem to be out of some tasty sounding desserts though. Pricing is in line with the food.

In addition the the food the staff are fantastic.  From our first visit we felt like regulars.  I continue going back for the food and the atmosphere the staff create!

I also tend to ask our waitress to surprise me with a drink that would accompany my meal and have always been happy with the selection!

Unremarkable bland tasting food overall. We had appies.- Bruschetta , stuffed mushrooms - blah. A tomato bisque was tasty. Good desserts except the creme brûlée was actually a creme caramel. They are over reaching. Is there tasty food anywhere in New West?

I quite dig this place. It's a cute little bistro-esque establishment only a few blocks from where I lived. Been for coffee dates, brunch, lunch, drinks with live music. Cute, cozy, modern, hip. Sometimes difficult to get seating cause it is small but friendly staff and reliable food.

One of the most bland meals I've ever eaten. Someone should tell them about this magical thing called salt. Not too mention other basic flavouring agents such as garlic or cilantro.

The tapas were the best I've ever had! the chef is brilliant! However, be prepared to wait for it. The night I was there, there was a full house and only one waitress for the whole restaurant! I don't know if that is a normal practice, but if you are not in the mood to wait 20 minutes for your coffee or an uncaring wait staff, I would not suggest this restaurant.
