Maybe I should have gone with the traditional spaghetti with meatballs instead of the clam sauce, but they're the Spaghetti Factory! They should be pros at all spaghetti. Uh, or not.

For years, I've heard all this hype about the Spaghetti Factory. Tried it for the first time and wasn't impressed. Salad looked like it had been sitting out, and my pasta was a little dry. Clam sauce barely had any clams.

    I'd rather go somewhere else.

I was a bit worried that this place was going to be a complete bust, but I was pleasantly surprised. The wifey and I came here for a surprise b-day party on a Saturday afternoon. They do have FREE parking, however it fills up quickly around the usual busy times.
We ordered from pre-set menus and I ordered a salad with vinaigrette dressing, fettuccine alfredo,  and a scoop of vanilla ice cream (instead of the spumoni). The dressing was simple, but very tasty. The fettuccine was pretty good, but needed more seasoning. I had a sample of the spaghetti with a random sausage placed on top and I didn't care for it. The sausage was delish, but the sauce didn't do it for me. The lasagna was alright. You could probably get the same taste from a frozen lasagna meal. The vanilla ice cream was nothing special, but the spumoni I tasted was bizarre. It wasn't good at all, and every bowl had different colors.
Overall this place is alright, but I'm not a huge Italian restaurant fan. It is a bit expensive for pasta, but the free parking makes up the difference.

+1 for the bar that's never crowded
+1 for the friendly bartenders who always remember our drinks
+1 for the cool old building.

Service is excellent, but I do not like their food here. Whenever I'm here I go straight to the bar!

I would have had a better meal if I had made my own pasta, left it overnight, and warmed it up the following day. The salad, as other reviews have stated, was pathetic. Store bought iceberg lettuce, literally (and I counted) 3 1/2 croutons, and a dollop of dressing. The apps were decent, and I'm glad we filled up because dinner was a huge let down. Dry pasta, minimal sauce...come on, Spaghetti factory!

The redeeming quality was the attitude and service of our waiter and accompaning staff. They were very accomodating, and preened us to anticipate a 5 star meal. They were lovely, its a shame the food didn't live up to the service surrounding it.

Save yourself the hassle of getting a seat, go to Olive Garden....

My boyfriend is going to laugh at me for this, as told me NOT to eat here. And while I hate to write negative reviews, this restaurant was pretty disappointing. Worse yet, now I have to tell my boyfriend he was right and I don't want to do that. I sincerely want to say, "You're wrong, I had a great dinner there!"

The ambience here is great for families, the serving sizes are large and the staff is very friendly. It's also a big enough place that it's perfect for large groups, family dinners , etc. It's even great if you realize you want to go out on a Friday and don't have a reservation. Just don't expect amazing food.

At the top of the appetizer menu I noticed immediately that there was an artichoke dip. A total weakness! I had to order it. Then at the top of the entree menu I noticed something else intriguing... A special brown butter pasta with cheese. Got it. The entree came with a side salad and I asked for the homemade dressing that was a pesto/Ranch combo. Eagerly I waited for the food to be done and kept thinking, "Don't let my boyfriend be right... this sounds good!"

The food arrived and it was all downhill from there. The artichoke dip was meh and it came with white bread. And I don't just mean the color! It was panini-pressed Wonder bread. But I stayed positive. I still had this brown butter dish to look forward to, right?! So that comes and it was inedible. Absolutely awful. And please, trust me... I'm not here to write a shill or nasty review. I've written over 1,000 and less than 10 of those are negative reviews. But this meal was really bad. The spaghetti noodles were definitely cooked much earlier today. They were dried out and stuck together. They looked mummified. Then the "sauce" was totally absent from the dish. All it had was shredded dry cheese that flew all over the place when I went to take a bite. This must be the type of food my boyfriend was referring to.

The salad was just your pre-packed iceberg deal and the dressing tasted like Chartreuse. It almost had a licorice or anise flavor. Not a big fan, I decided to cut the meal short and just savor the soda water I was drinking.

So while I didn't try everything on the menu, I tried a featured entree and a dip that's pretty easy to execute. Nothing blew me away and everything was mediocre at best. Jim, you told me so.

Ya know, regardless of what some of the reviews say, I thought this place was decent. Some parts of the meal were a miss, but overall it was okay.

We went here today for my cousin's birthday party, and although at first I wasn't very thrilled, the food and old world charm of this place really won me over.

We ended up renting out their banquet room, which is located to the right of the hostess desk and right before the bar/lounge area. It comfortably fit all 30 of us with room to spare. We were given a prix-fixe three-course menu, which included: a simple salad with either creamy pesto or balsamic vinaigrette dressing, an entree (we could choose between spaghetti with Italian sausage and meat sauce, fettuccine alfredo with chicken/broccoli/mushrooms, and lasagna), and dessert (spumoni or vanilla ice cream). They included a limitless supply of bread and butter as well as drinks ( although soda and alcohol were extra). I can understand why the alcohol was extra, but I don't know why they charged extra for soda?! Lame!

Anyway, the salad was fine, nothing special. I really liked both of the dressings they offered. I ended up dunking my fresh sourdough bread in the oil and balsamic vinaigrette since I prefer that to butter. It was really tasty! I ended up getting the lasagna and let me tell you, it was delicious! I think what made it so good was that it was simple yet flavorful. It was a perfect ratio of noodle, meat, ricotta, and sauce! There was a small layer of mozzarella melted on top, which gave it a perfect salty bite! After tasting everyone else's dishes, I think it was the best out of the three. The alfredo was alright, I personally thought it was bland. I wasn't a fan of the spaghetti... unlike the lasagna, it was too simple and utterly forgetful other than how odd it was that they just plopped an entire link of Italian sausage on the side of it.

The spumoni was not something I'd order again. Everyone at my table who ordered it received something different. My entire scoop was green... I'm assuming it was supposed to be pistachio?! Normally I LOVE pistachio, but this one didn't really have any flavor at all. One of my other cousins receive something that looked more like chocolate ice cream and said it was rather bland as well. Luckily we had cake as well, so most of us just took one bite and then put our spoons down.

All in all, this place is okay. Would I eat here again? Sure. But not very often!

Seriously people I have read soooo many whiny reviews of the Old Spaghetti Factory, saying how it's not a high level culinary experience? Do you go to McDonad's and expect Wagyu Beef? Do you go to Taco Time and expect Medium Rare Carne Asada? Do you go to Ivar's and expect wild caught King Salmon?

You get what you pay for. At the Spaghetti Factory, what you are paying for is a meal at a cost slightly above that in your average High School Cafeteria, with a patronage very full of middle school kids going out to dinner and paying with their own money. So, you really can't expect a four star experience.

The staff is always helpful, the food is not terrible and the prices are cheap. You can usually get seated very quickly and your meal INCLUDES ice cream and milk or tea!

If this restaurant were in the middle of nowhere with nothing else around to eat, it might be OK - I didn't get food poisoning or anything. But the food was bland, my meal (chicken fettucine alfredo) needed double the sauce, the place was swarming with children and teenagers, the service was pleasant but mediocre/stupid (they don't take reservations and refused to seat the party until we all arrived???), they had about 40 chandeliers and yet somehow I felt if I asked for more sauce, they would charge me $5.

What makes this place so criminal is that it's blocks away from about 50 medium-to-awesome restaurants in the Belltown or Pike Place Market areas, any of which would be affordable and delicious. I was invited here for a birthday party or I would have not gone, I won't go again, and I have to spend the next 11 months thinking of a place to recommend to my friend for his birthday in a way that won't be rude.

I will say this - it was cheap.

This place is great!  We've been going to Old Spaghetti Factory for years and it's always delicious.  And even though it's generally horrible for you they at least post nutritional information on their site so you know just how bad it is!

The garlic cheese bread appetizer is amazingly delicious.  Totally terrible for you, but really freaking good.

As for entree's I'm a big fan of the garlic mizithra, the Manager's favorite with marinara and mizithra, chicken parmesan, crab ravioli, and baked lasagna.  It's all amazing.

But the best thing about this place is the price.  All of the entree's are cheap!!  And they come with a salad and a tasty scoop of ice cream at the end.  Highly recommend!  Very tasty and great.

Don't waste your money--there are a lot better eats in Seattle than this.

Ordered a classic frozen margarita with extra salt--came to me with barely any salt,  weak, and already half thawed and watery.

Ordered the olive/bruschetta appetizer--what a joke! The "bruschetta" was squished-flat white bread, toasted. Completely flavorless.

Ordered a salad--was wilted iceberg with a flavorless house ranch. Yuck.

Ordered spaghetti with meaty sauce--overcooked noodles barely covered in a mediocre (at best) sauce. Most store-bought jarred sauces taste better!

Dessert was a TINY serving of spumoni ice cream, the only thing I actually enjoyed about the meal. Almost $30 wasted.

The memories of this being a fine establishment  have now faded. The customer service has depreciated over the years. I set my empty coke on the edge of the table and watched as the waitress passed by it several times. I had to stare her down in order to finally get my refill. As far as the food goes, it seems as though the flavor has diminished. The shrimp, spinach and artichoke dip was bland. The spaghetti Vesuvius did not taste as good as it has on previous occasions. Save yourself the disappointment and visit the Tukwila location, its newer, nicer, and the difference in the food and service is amazing. Usually the older a restaurant is the better it is, but not in this case. It appears that time has finally taken its toll on the Seattle location.

I have a slightly bias opinion, but here it goes. If you are looking for some where downtown with free parking come here. Even when the lot is full there are plenty of other options and that's really only an issue sometimes at prime weekend dinner time. Also has more than ample space for large parties. Pasta dinners include a salad or soup, milk, coffee or tea, and ice cream at around $10 for the whole thing. Can't beat that deal. The staff is friendly and the bar area is surprisingly "Cheers" like with a TV for games. The building is super awesome too.

    Haha, total junk food.
My wife and I joked about this place for 2 years. I had never been and she would talk about how they don't even make good spaghetti. So one quiet Sunday evening, we popped in. Just like you would expect, mediocrity at its best.

This type of establishment is for families and folks that don't care a whole lot about what they are eating. Cool building though!

A friend took me to dinner here the other night. My last experience wasnt so memorable and I hadnt been back since.  I met my friend in the bar, which was really quiet and had good atmosphere.  The bartender was super hospitable and accommodating.  It was nice to hunker down into the highback chairs next to a leaded glass partition.  I ordered the chicken parm on the suggestion of the bartender. He was right, it was very good.  Very juicy and tender.  They obliqued my request of half and half on the sauces (white/red). We split a large order of spagetti squash and we each had a ceasar salad though one would have been enough to split.  The bartender happily kept refilling my coke and my dates hot water and tea.  Ice cream comes with your dinner.  All for under $13!  Ill be back sometime in the near future.

Have to give this place 5 stars, wish I could give it more.  The first time I experienced this place was in 1987 and fell in love with it and have been going back ever since.

My last visit was just as amazing as the first time.  The place is so tastefully decorated, which makes it so warm and inviting.  The hostess was so friendly and we were seated promptly.  The food is just amazing, they make everything to order and it is packed with tons of flavor.  The portion sizes are pretty large and the prices are decent.

Well worth the drive to get here.

I was surprised to see that you get a side salad, bread, an entree, and a scoop of ice cream for around $10.00.  The environment is very family friendly and comfy a great place for dinning on a budget or with kids.

I ordered the cheese and mushroom ravioli. It was good but nothing to write home about. I divulged with some ice cream and was in love with their spumoni ice cream! This was my first time trying it so I do not have any comparisons but it was mouth watering good!

I was very impressed with the customer service. The service was fast, responsive, and peppy. Overall a good experience and a satisfying lunch with leftovers.

Really great value! I am not going to say the food is fantastic, but I love love love the brown butter mizithra pasta. It is my absolute fave. I can't say much about anything else on the menu because I order the same thing every time. My boyfriend got the chicken marsala and said it was "ok."  I also love that salad and bread and ice cream all come with dinner. Like I said, good value. The wine prices were very low as well.

It has a good family atmosphere, and it is just a nice mellow place to have dinner. It has a large seating area, and the wait was pretty quick. They also have call ahead seating so you can put your name on the list ahead of time. They will hold your place for an hour.

I have to say the service is usually pretty lacking. But I just keep going back for my mizithra. Do not go here for the good service. Everyone always has a smile, it is just slow.

Their parking lot is really small and it was full. So there was a lot down Elliott a little bit that was $4.

Born and raised in the Seattle area and this was my first visit to Spaghetti Factory!  Service was absolutely phenomenal and that's what brings this review up to 4 stars.  I got the chicken marsala as my wife had made it at home a couple months ago, but I had never had it in a restaurant before, so I wanted something to compare it to.  My wife's was better. (I hope she reads this). The salad was terrible....wilted iceberg core.  The bread, pasta, and spumoni ice cream were great!  All in all it was a good experience and a good value.  The service and decor/atmosphere are awesome.

It is what it is, the factory. Service is prompt, server spilt water on me, but that happens at any factory.

Plus on this place is that you can walk over to the Olympic Sculpture Park and walk the food off.

Great place for a family dinner or to take a prom date. I'd call this place faux fancy with neat decor, yet has a laid-back casual feel. We've been here at least a dozen times over the past few years, and the food is always consistent.

It's a large, busy place, but surprisingly the service is generally quick and friendly. Sure, the food is not fancy Italian, but it's good, affordable, and there's always enough for leftovers.

From the old velvet armchairs in the waiting area to the exposed timber beams and creaky booths, Spag is a chain restaurant masquerading as a historic Seattle mainstay.  It's pure novelty dining--where else can you be seating for dinner inside of a train car?  I think it's this novelty factor, combined with the prices, that pack the Spag for dinner for every night, since people sure aren't coming for the food.

Most of the pastas are either bland or oversalted.  The pasta with clam sauce is okay... if you like canned clams.  The item I usually get is the browned butter and mizithra pasta, but I usually can never finish it--not because it's a huge portion but because it's so so salty.

I was going to give this place 2 stars, but it gets three for the salad and spumoni that comes with each entree.

Great value! This is a consistent budget restaurant where you can dine for about $12-13 per person including tip if you stick to water or soft drinks.

We walked in at 6 PM on a Sunday and were promptly seated. Their parking lot is small but has people out their managing it -- most likely to prevent non-patrons from filling it up.

On the food quality front, nothing to add that others have not already said. If you want pasta, they have it. If you don't want pasta then head someplace else.

I always think Old Spag' is just okay.

I love how you get salad and Spumoni after, but otherwise, their food is okay.

Their food is either too dry, or too watery. Pick and choose. I got the chicken alfredo with pesto and it was definitely watery.

My friend got some white sauce as well with cheese, and it was soooo dry. she didn't even eat half.

They have good service. But for real Italian, I recommend somewhere else!

I remember going to the Old Spaghetti Factory when I was a kid back in Hawaii and remembered how amazing the spumoni ice cream was.

I just visited the Seattle location a few days ago and honestly...I don't know what to say.  The food isn't that horrible...but it isn't the greatest either.  Simple tasting food with no wow factor--better luck making it in your own kitchen. And as for the spumoni...it just didn't taste the way I always imagined it to be.

I love this restaurant! Makes a good date night dinner, my boyfriend and I go here on special occasions. It is not too fancy, not too casual, and the prices are great! You get an unlimited amount of fresh baked sourdough bread to start, and the minestrone soup is delicious. It all comes with your entrée, also including Italian Spumoni ice cream desert and your choice of beverage. Value is great, quality is great...usually about 12$ a person. If you like pasta(who doesn't?!?) then you will surely like it here. Before going vegan my favorites were the browned butter specialty and the spinach ravioli, so I recommend those if you like cheesy dishes. My carnivorous boyfriend swears by the spaghetti and meatballs(which are BIG), and I now stick by the spaghetti and mushroom sauce(delicious if you love sauteed mushrooms like I do). More often than not our server is excellent. Plus you get the whole warm romantic lighting effect and beautiful antique decoration. :)

I gotta disagree that this is a good deal.  Now, if you are in middle school or high school and need a place for a date, then $8 for a marinara dinner with salad, bread, tea, and ice cream is not bad.

However, if you are adult, or a family.  You are paying $8 EACH, plus tip and tax, for salad from a bag, tea from a bottle, ice cream from the freezer, dried noodles, and canned sauce.  For about $10 I could buy 2 barilla jars, 1 box dried noodles, 1 bag of salad, and 1 sour dough roll, 1 gallon of ice cream and feed 4 people at home easily.

I just can't give a good review to a place the calls themselves a "factory" and does not actually MAKE the pasta.  The noodles are brought in people.

I always get mad when people criticize a place and don't list better ones:
    -  FareStart has spaghetti with house made noodles and house made meat balls for around $11, same price as this place, only waaaaayy better.
    -  Cafe Piccolo has housemade fettacini with bologese meat sauce that is incredible! and for only $10.95! and it comes with REAL bread, not a hard sourdough roll.

screw OSF, eat real pasta, from local places, for the same price.

If I were reviewing the Lynnwood location they'd get 1 star, mayyyyybe 2, but this time went to this one (work's choice, not mine) and I was pleasantly surprised.  I'm used to the Chef Boyardee quality muck at Lynnwood with the less than exceptional service.  This one the noodles were actually cooked right, rather than too mushy, and the waitress was REALLY nice and managed to keep track of our party of 26 with ease.  Seriously, she made it look easy.  With the exception of a couple dishes coming out a little late, one of them being mine, everything went off without a hitch.  Bravo.

Everyone reviewing is going on about going to the OSF as a kid. Well things taste different when you are a kid and haven't been around much or developed an actual taste for anything. Or maybe the food was just better 20 years ago.
This place is for the very young and the very old who don't like spices of any kind. Its too bland. The sauces are thin. The butter sauce was nice but very rich. The salad was like bag iceberg lettuce. Not much to impress. Oddly small portions given the type of restaurant it is. Palatable but why pay for this.
Something nice to say, the decor is cuter than the food. There are plenty of better places for adults to go, but it is very kid friendly and many other real restaurants don't accommodate kids well. So pack up your 4 year olds and head on down.

The pastas I ordered were good, nothing particularly great. It's not the best place for tourists who want good food, but it's a great place for friends and families to gather for a fine meal with a decent price.

As a native Seattlite, I was stunned to learn this is a chain. This OSF location is an institution for Seattle dining. Atmosphere is immediately recognized as it's an old warehouse converted into a restaurant. Exposed brick and wooden beams plus vintage lamps and other vintage flair give it a cozy vibe.

I was introduced to it as a kid, kept going as a teen for awkward dates, and now living in walking distance we pop in when we want some of that myzithra with noodles.

Affordable, reliable, service is at least decent. As someone used to the suburbs, parking is awful at dinner rush. I hope this place never leaves!

This is my third time eating at OSF-
The last couple times were soo long ago, I cant remember if I liked it then, so we went back last night for my nieces b-day.

My son ordered Meat Lovers Spaghetti- he is actually really hard not to please- he loves everything, but he didnt like his spaghetti, the sauce, or the meatballs.

My Daughter ordered cheese ravioli, the sauce tasted really weird and she barely touched it.

My Niece ordered spaghetti, she liked it a little bit she gave is 2 out of 5.

I ordered the chicken parmigiana, I have to say service was great, they remedied a mistake quickly, but still it just didn't taste good, it had zero kick, it was bland, gross flavorless...

The favorite part of my entire meal was the spumoni.

Next time, we will go to Charlies for the Parmigiana, and we will go to Buca Di Bepos for some good Italian.
