Great asian fusion restaurant for Kits. Can be very busy so I usually order takeout, and call my order in so I don't have to wait around.  Eating in is fine, just a little frenetic noisy/busy vibe. Share your table when necessary.

I always order the same thing: MALAY STYLE FRIED RICE (Nasi Goreng) and it's always really good. I think I get medium spicy but be careful as they are not kidding about the heat value. Hot/very hot would wipe me out. This order always results in 2 or 3 servings for me so a pretty good value.

The other menu items look tasty so I will try to be more adventuresome on my next visit.

Hot Hot Hot! You can choose the base of your dish (ie. Cambodian Jungle Curry, Teriyaki Bowl...), the level of spiciness (even their mild is cray-cray hot!), pick your meat (tofu, chicken, etc), pay, perhaps grab a Tiger beer, and before you know it, you're faced with consuming the delicious creation...Good luck! I think I've finished everything in the bowl only once, and believe me, I can eat. My fave is the tofu Teriyaki bowl, but basically everything I've tried has been amazing. The people who work here are chill and friendly despite the fast paced kitchen.

Never fails to live up to my expectations. Fab place to eat and hang out, or to take-away from. Honestly, if you can't choose which dish you want (if all of the options sound appealing to you), close your eyes, spin around, and randomly point to one.

I found The Noodle Box to be an ideal casual dinner experience............ they had attractive employees (specifically one who looked like Brody Jenner), memorable and tasty food, nice washrooms, the girl at the next table was on her laptop, and we drank a bottle of wine under the table without any harassment.

Ps I had teriyaki rice and my friend had chicken chow main (and although she pronounced it chh-ch-chchh main she was given tofu as well because Brody Jenner was kind and accommodating to paying customers who stutter).

    Down Hill..

My husband and I been die-hard fans of Black Bean Garlic + Chicken - Medium for me, Mild Plus for him - for over  2 years. And at least 2 times a week, my husband and I order take out (he gets his with rice)..

It started 2 months ago when we noticed, our orders getting messed up - I end up with no heat, he ends up with too much heat... his rice is dry.. my noodles are Chow Mein.. and Honest! We found metal shavings in our meals last week.

Being a fan, I called it and explained that we really love this food and this particular location has always served us well, but something is dragging this location down.

This week's pick up - My husbands order with rice: Rice under cooked crisp!  My noodles are "al dente!" and to top it all off, no chicken in the Black Bean Garlic Chicken! The veggie to meat to carb ratio is messed up, the food is under cooked, and the spice is either MIA or unbearable.

Since we always order for take out, and we dig into it after we've finally settled down for the night with the movie going.. it's very frustrating having to go back to the Noodle Box on 4th to report discontent... 4th time that month!
So we resign to ordering pizza.

I don't know what's going on at 4th Noodle Box location (new cooks? new order takers?) but that was the last straw...

My husband and I have finally resigned from trying to make it work. We called it quits with the noodle box and we're are looking for a replacement.

Yes, Thursday and Friday nights tradition of take out and a movie will be greatly missed.

Interesting place that Caucasians cooking Asian foods... It's nice noodle place but expensive for lunch.

It was so quiet on Sunday noon, only 2 tables there.  I found the reviews were pretty good on this place and really want to try it.

Food was ok not impress at all.  My hubby ordered medium spicy of chicken peanut sauce noodle, he didn't like the sauce coz a bit bitter.  I ordered daily special - scallops and prawns linguine in tomato sauce, it was pretty good.

This place might not be as cheap as your typical Asian Fusion places but at least you know your not eating your neighbors animals. I love hot and spicy food and this place doesn't disappoint. I think they might have miss measured the hotness a time or two because I think my digestive system shut down, but in the end the flavor was more than worth it.  Everything I have tired so far I have liked. You will most likely not leave hungry, usually I leave pretty full and still have leftovers. So what some have said about it being expensive, $14.00 for a meal and a half... In Vancouver, the most over priced city on the west coast??? Forget about it...

I used to go to Noodle Box in Victoria before they expanded to Vancouver. I loved it, I would eat half and take half on the ferry and everyone with their White Spot burgers was totally jelly of my chinese take out box and delicious delicious stir fry.

We used to frequent the Kits and Homer locations but my tastes must have changed because I don't love it like I used to. There are so many other options I guess, and I feel like you can get the same kind of food elsewhere for much cheaper. Two of us get the no carb addition, and add two beers, and it's as much as a nice meal at a sit down place. Still... I will return.

FYI - the Kits location doesn't have draught beer but the Homer one does. The Homer location is also much nicer for eating in than Kits.

As I walked into this hip and happening joint in Kits, the waitress asked me what I would like to order and how spicy. I already took a quick glance and I knew I was going for the Cambodian Jungle curry as I already tried the black bean and garlic Hokkien noodles last time! I said emphatically "Xtra hot" as their "suicide hot" option was probably too much for even my taste buds to handle. I got to take care of those wonderful taste buds if I going to keep Yelping!

The Noodle box had humble beginnings as a refurbished hot dog stand to currently two Vancouver and several Victoria brick and mortar stores. It's sort of a fusion of South East Asian (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysian ) type noodle dishes. Amazing frankly to think that the first noodle box was literally a hot dog stand in Victoria!

I like the lively atmosphere and the healthy options(split box and no carb box) that you able to customize with the dishes. It's self serve as you have to pick up your order when your name is called. I have to admit the prices are pretty high for this food court style service. They do offer appys like spring rolls, roti, dumplings and grilled satay but I haven't tried them yet. Most of the noodle dishes can be substituted with rice (brown also available). There's soup and curries options available as well.

The food overall just doesn't have enough flavour. Kind of like a bunch of ingredients stir fried together and the sauce poured on top.

Cool atmosphere but pricey unflavorful fusion food gives it a 3 star.

Four star review for take-out but it would lose at least a star if I had to eat my meal there. Way to much noise from open kitchen, other dinners, and the ever present techno music (which did seemed toned down on last visit).
I love ordering an item and bringing it home to watch a hockey game where the only noise is me yelling at the TV.

Sweat dripping from my pores, the flush of red that fills my cheeks, the extra seven levels of spice that translates into an entirely new flavour, the satisfaction of knowing I made it through the entire dish without flinching - I adore spicy food.

Fast, consistently delicious, and respectful of my sometimes annoying gluten allergy, The Noodle Box may be a chain (shhh!), and is certainly not authentically any kind of Asian, but maaan do they do good spicy food. Try as I might to be a hater on the place, I find it almost impossible to say no to their Cambodian Jungle Curry. Though I can't really be sure what makes this dish "Cambodian" or "Jungle", the flavours of their ginger broth mixed with mango, mushrooms, sprouts and cilantro (medium spicy, avec tofu, thank you very much) fraternize in the bowl to make for one seriously addicting dish.

Word to the wise: hot actually means hot here. As in, we're in northern Thailand kinda hot. Unless you're immune to the gut-wrenching pain and mouth-numbing sensations of spice, stick with mild. Otherwise, come sweat it out with me in the Cambodian Jungle.

Good food, but the prices they're charging seem like an attempt to match their self-declared cool factor rather than the quality of their food. I would not turn anyone away from eating here as their dishes are tasty, but at their rates I'd rather eat at a dine-in place with full table service.

(WARNING: Their spiciness standards are way crazy so be conservative with the heat.)

The Taco Bell of Asian cuisine. Even the spicy is flavorless - and by that I mean, it was plenty hot but had no actual flavors. I think I had the plum sauce noodles which were garnished with something that appeared to be basil, but tasted like paper. And each element of the dish - noodles, tofu, veg - was days from fresh.

I also found the shop loud, untidy, overpriced and uncomfortable to sit in.

The best thing about this meal was throwing half of it out. One star for thorough compost and recycle options!

I LOVE this place. I started frequenting this joint ages ago on Fisgard st. in Victoria. Tried it's location on Douglas st. in Victoria. Moved to Vancity and instantly hit this place up in Kits. And now?? HOMER st?! Fan-freakin-tastic.

Not so much for my wallet though. I do find this place expensive but I think it's because I am capable of eating an enitre box of stirfly, noodles, or curry in one sitting...at extra hot!...and still want more, regardless of how much my stomach hates me due to both heat and over-filling. So the price adds up quickly.

Their menu has expanded substantially since the early days in Victoria but I'm not yet prepared to abandon my love affair with the basic noodle boxes to try much else.

I am leaving this review mainly as a public service to others: do not, ever, no matter what you do, order the food "as spicy as they can make it," even if, like me, you're the sort of dumb jerkoff who does this at every other restaurant. At The Noodle Box, "as spicy as they can make it" results in your being served a dish that is approximately 1/3 hot peppers, and frantically pouring water down your throat to compensate for the enormous physical pain that ensues while trying to enjoy your actually pretty good food.

The upshot of this is that, because I was in such terrible pain after five minutes of trying to eat this dish, it took me three consecutive evenings to finish a single order, averaging out to around four dollars per meal. Not too shabby.

I've eaten here twice, once dine in and once to go. I had the vegetarian chow mein. I asked and paid for extra veggies.  It did not come with it. So I had to complain and they made another one for me.  It doesn't really have veggies to start with, so it's a little pricey to pay for extra veggies, just to get a few aside from bean sprouts. The sauce was lacklustre, it was nothing special. I wished I had ordered a different one.

Next time for take out I spent a while deciding, but had heard the Garlic black bean sauce was good, so I tried that.  Although I was surprised and a little impressed to have actual black beans in it, the sauce was again lacklustre.  There wasn't much flavour to it.  I ordered it mild because I don't enjoy spicy food.  At home, I added some peanut butter because it was bland, and 2 I was starving and with a few veggies and rice noodles it wasn't enough to fill me up.

My husband ordered the Singapore noodles hot at 7 and it was way too spicy for him.  He should have known better, but he threw half of it out he was getting hiccups it was so hot and could barely eat it! lol. Say medium if you like spicy or you'll probably regret it.

We live down the street from here, and while I like the idea, it is just too expensive and bland for what you get. I have all the same ingredients at home anyways so we make our own now.

Vegans beware you may still be hungry after your ration of veggies and rice noodles...

I'm sure everyone else who says they are stuffed or it's two meals got meat in their box.

My favourite order at The Noodle Box is the Black Bean and Garlic Tofu stir fry. It comes with tofu, hokkein noodles, bean sprouts, garlic, peppers, and some greens that I couldn't identify but are still dee-lish.

The portions are gigantic, enough for 2 seperate meals. Unless you're a big dude or have a bottomless stomach.

The only problem I've had with the food is how awful it is after re-heating. I don't know what happens to the flavour after a brief refrigeration but it's um.. not good.

They also use adorable takeout containers! So awesome!

For $2 extra you can get brown rice instead. Also there are bottles of sriracha on every table. Or "East Van Ketchup" if you prefer.

Awesome place to visit if you're craving a little spicy Asian. Food that is.

I'm hopelessly addicted to their Thai Style Chow Mein and I order it medium hot. That's plenty hot. Do not even attempt to order the really hot stuff. I love spicy food but I'm no fool. Well, I am but you get the idea.

Lovely smells waft out of the cooking area here and there's plenty of product on the plate. Lots of people order take out to get those funky take out boxes that show up on Barney Miller re-runs. Anyone remember that show???

Get your noodle in a box tonight! Still talking food.

consistently tasty food, big portions, cheap price = win !

I usually come to this place for lunch since it is close by, everything in their menu is in the $8-15 range and comes in big bowls, so you always have leftovers :) Everything on the menu has variable spiceness and choice of veg/meat/fish, so its highly customizable, and they'll work with you if you have food allergies/specifications.

The only negative is the seating , they have a lot of space, if they only had it laid out better, i'm sure more people could fit. Not good for large groups, and you're always sitting next to strangers and involuntarily listening in to other conversations.

Ok so the Noodle Box is no secret but I have kept it from my Yelp profile bc I am a bit nervous about increasing line ups and wait times...

The Noodle Box offers Southeast Asian noodle dishes- think Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian, noodles, fresh veggies, cilantro, garlic, sprouts and all served with whatever spiciness your palette desires (or can handle!). I like my food spicy so this is especially appealing to me.  And honestly, I am a teeny bit biased considering I order the same thing every visit (Tom Yum Soup with Prawns) and could live on a diet of tom yum soup and chicken pho.

The restaurant was started by a young couple who had traveled through Southeast Asia and clearly fell in love with the culture and with the food. The restaurant began as a food stand in Victoria and has been an expanding staple ever since (stay tuned to the new location dt location on Homer). The employees are ultra hipsters who all sort of look like they're at a full moon party on the beach in Thailand. The décor and music also add a nice touch and contribute to the look and feel that make the experience that much more authentic.

Ordering: When you arrive you'll step inside and notice large boards with the available dishes hanging from the ceiling above the cashier. Get in line (quickly!), make your selection, order from the cashier, find a seat, and get comfortable and excited for flavor and for a new restaurant to add to your list of favorites.

Wooohoo, yeah. This place is great. Trendy, great place for a fun date, and really delicious food. Cambodian jungle curry is great, and it has mango slices in it, the peanut noodle dish is amazing too. A medium heat is usually quite hot, i wouldnt recommend anything more.

After this make a visit to true confections, for a lovely dessert to cool down your belly.

This review is for the noodle box on homer st. As I can't find a separate entry for them.
I was excited for this new location, and I have tried them about 5 times, but I'm afraid I've given up. First of all, price is high, which can be forgiven for excellent food. And I will agree that everything is very fresh and cooked to order, but the taste is so...blah, off, not quite right. Every expensive dish I ordered ended up in the bin.

A few other notes - the space is very hip and open but the acoustics are terrible. The food takes a while so expect a long wait. People working there do seem friendly. The air exhaust system is very loud and has annoyed all the residents on this part of the street. It sounds like a street cleaner is on the street 24/7.

Just try walking past this place. After smelling the black bean and teriyaki sauces sizzling away in their woks, it's hard to resist for sure! Cambodian Jungle Curry with Rice, Teriyaki Box, Tom Yum Soup, Roti with Curry dipping sauce, it's all good here. Be careful what you wish for when asking for hot and spicy. I usually like things really spicy but only order my hotness at a 4 out of 10 here. Everything is made fresh to order, which is huge for me. I can't stand reheated food. Just order your food from the friendly staff and wait for your name to be called to dig in.

Lunch for 2 is a bit pricey though, especially since there's no table service - about $35 after tip.

*You know you've written quite a few reviews when you go to update your review and realize you haven't written a review in the first place*

Enter Noodle Box - my go-to place when I'm craving something that I can justify as healthy and loaded with peanut sauce: hence the five sexy stars. I may only come  here to get my peanut fix but, I do love the spice categorization too. I'm a mild myself, sometimes I dabble in mild medium, but my tongue usually regrets it! One day my goal is to graduate to "American Medium" which I believe is a couple more spice notches down on the menu!

I also *heart* that there is a designated area for separate your recyclables and compostables. Thank You Noodle Box for for being greener than most!

"Honey, what do you want for dinner tonight?"
Has got to be one of the most annoyingly predictable questions I hear.
    My answer today is...

    Spicy Peanut Chicken.  [Mild Medium]
I know Yelp is all about trying new foods and all that happy stuff... But I seriously cannot bring myself to order anything but this from their menu.
The one time I deviated from my conscience, I mean growling tummy, I was quite disappointed with the Jungle Curry.

Side note: I wish the Noodle Box was still a street food cart! It would totally give Japa-Dog a run for its money.

Ok in the spirit of full disclosure, a good friend of mine is one of the owners of this place, but that totally doesn't matter 'cause the food rules. Seriously.

The concept is simple and is inspired by those side of the road noodle carts that Bourdain visits every time he's in Asia. In fact, the first NB was a cart in Victoria, but that didn't last long because the food is so awesome that they couldn't keep up with all of the customers. It's fast, it's fresh, and it's cheap - for $11 or $12 you can grab a bowl full of food and have enough left over for at least one more meal. You have your choice of meat, shrimp or tofu, and they will happily make it vegan for you (without the fish sauce) if you ask.

A word of caution, though - when they say hot they mean it. They have a little chart describing the levels of heat in their food. Don't pretend to be all tough and crap and ask for extra hot. Chances are, if you are a pasty white chick like me,  you can't handle it.

Noodle Box never disappoints. For the nights without any dinner ideas, this is the place we go to year round. It's always packed around dinner time. There are tables for sit it casual dining, but we usually do take out. They put them in these cute Chinese take out boxes, which are also microwaveable.

If ordering take out, always call in advance. This will allow you to walk in, pick up, and go. It could be a long wait (usually at least 20 minutes -half an hour.)

There's different levels of spiciness to your liking. I usually get the mildest ones, because I'm just not spicy savvy. Everything on the menu is Asian inspired, from Thailand, Malaysia, China, and Japan. Not the most authentic dishes, but they're always good.

Lots of different drinks to choose from, pop, juice, beer, wine. They also have daily specials (I've had a Kobe beef stir fry once), and many options for 'add-ons'-such as scallops, allows each visit to be different.

    Good stuff:
Vietnamese Spring Rolls with nouc cham sauce- one order comes with 4 pieces, a little over priced, but the filling is quite tasty.

Most of their main dishes are all 'stir-fry' style, all cooked in a large wok. You have the choice of chicken, pork, or tofu, prawns, or a combination of two things.

Certain dishes come with ribbon noodles, others come with rice noodles, most available with rice (or even brown rice, for those even more health conscious.)

    Favs:
Singapore Cashew Curry-mild curry spices, with toasted cashews, coconut milk, peppers, asian greens, herbs, and ribbon noodles. Lots of ground cashews with tasty noodles, topped with bean sprouts, cilantro. For my curry fix!

Cambodian Jungle Curry-spicy curry broth with rice noodles, simmered with ginger, mushrooms, peppers, asian greens, sprouts and finished with mango, herbs and lime. This is a little more spicy than the Singapore curry, but more flavour.

Spicy Peanut Box-Indonesian style peanut sauce, wok fried with peppers, asian greens, crushed peanuts, herbs, sprouts, coconut milk and lime on ribbon noodles. This satisfies my peanut fix. Noodles, drenched with peanut sauce- too good to be true.

Try anything else on the menu-Malay style fried rice, Thai style chow mein, you really can't go wrong here.

For eat ins, there are also many different Asian sauces to add to your dish.

I can usually only finish half of the dish, and then save the other half for lunch the next day, still as good!

A cool, casual atmosphere, perfect after a day of shopping, at the beach, or adding some heat to the chilly winter days!

mmmmmmmmmmm noodles...I love me some cards..so I love me some noodles...in turn..I love Noodle Box...

I was introduced by a friend that lives in Kits....she suggested it on a shopping spree to 4th one day and she totally had me at "noodles"...right away I loved it...love the simple urban cafeteria style....the music was really great and the patrons had a great vibe...now the food...I don't like really spicy food so I like that they give you spiciness options..although..I had like the least spiciest option and it still kicked the shit out of my taste buds...but after a while you don't even notice 'cause its just the tasty...oh..I had the Jungle Curry with chicken and I agree with Noa G...AMAZING...

Also...LOVE the little white take out boxes...they always make me think of watching 80's movies based in NY and the actors eating take out from some Chinese restaurant...

I consistantly go to this place, because i have never been let down! Mind you i order the same thing every time - the chicken thai noodle box..mmmmmm!!! The only thing i would add i think would be a touch of ginger (in case your listening out there NB) - but the cilantro and the spice is a perfect combo for a great dish! And authentically eaten straight out of the box!

As much as I like to want Noodle Box, I need to agree with Gabrielle P.

It's just not as good as it used to be, and it's WAY too expensive.

I had lunch there yesterday with a friend - we grabbed a couple of boxes of noodles, and some spring rolls and satay to split. Okay, so it was way too much food for lunch - but it was also WAY too expensive for what we got - over $40 and didn't even include drinks!

The noodles are pretty good, not fantastic but good for a quick lunch. It's just way too overpriced when you look at the other options in the city.

Proper food. Bonus - walking distance.

I usually get the Thai Style Chow Mein with pork, I wish they would cut the pork a little more thoroughly, there's always a huge mass of it. Aside from that it's great.

Sometimes there is inconsistency between different chefs re: how spicy you ask for the food to be. I always ask for the same, which is right in the middle (which is noted to be hotter than what most restaurants would consider "medium" spiciness), sometimes it kicks my ass and sometimes it's really mild.

A dish is about ten bucks. They have a card they stamp, and after you go there enough times they give you some free food.

We stopped by here the other day to get take out and take it down to the beach. It comes in cute boxes that are stacked it was so filling and delicious! A lot of great selection and you can ask for any spicyness level you'd like. Everything is cooked perfectly! I was craving it just today!!!

I love this place! It was fun to watch, I liked that it wasn't too formal. The portions are so huge, two people can share one noodle or rice dish easily and be full. Share an appy of roti as well and you'll be stuffed! I took my order to go but it fared pretty well on my journey home.

I shared a Spicy Peanut Chicken noodle and a Prawn Jungle Curry on rice both at medium spiciness.  The Spicy Peanut noodle was great but my dinner companion found it to be too spicy, so maybe a mild medium would be better for this. But the Jungle Curry wasn't as good as I would have imagined it to be. Where were the mangoes in it, as promised? Maybe it would be better on noodles... I couldn't tell this was a medium spiciness. Over all the SPnoodles were the best. And the Roti with curry sauce was great too.

Oh and to top everything off, they have wooden forks (instead of plastic!) and chili oils and hot sauce (in case it wasn't spicy enough..) and I like the eatery-style dining room.

Its hard to place just one order, I seem  to always leave with two items, and then I have leftovers for days. If your not spicy hot friendly then be careful, "Medium" is hot for lots but for some reason ive burnt my taste buds, so I have to go high on the scale and its always really hot and yummy...

One thing I have noticed here is a lot of the items have similar tastes, so try to flip it around with the daily specials. Lunch time can be busy with line ups...

I consider myself a bit of a noodle expert.  After all it is one of my favourite food.  I made the mistake of letting other people pick a place to eat with the word noodle in the name.  Noodle box was a very disappointing experience for me.  While the food presentation was pretty, the dish I ordered was so blah, I don't even remember what I had.  I can tell the noodle itself came out of a box, not freshly made (how fitting...).  The sauce again forgetful.  Oh yeah, just in case, you haven't noticed from the other reviews.  The menu was so overpriced that only non experienced noodle eater can accept it as fair.

I did like the decor of the place.  Very fresh and modern.  It fits perfectly with the Lululemon wearing, bike riding and pot smoking Kits neighbourhood.
