Place seems alright. Somehow a friend got free cover so we went. Venue is good.

Pros: Big venue, bar staff seemed friendly/helpful, free coatcheck (I think) and lots of space due to the 3 floors.

Cons: Kind of absurd that they call it a "taphouse" when I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere around 3 different types of beers in the whole joint. Also the music was horrendous. I usually don't really care what type of music a place has, but the guy was jumping all over the place and while its perfectly fine to play different sorts of music, you need to learn how to transition songs if you want to make a big jump from one genre to another.

Stumbled upon this place on a Thursday night when looking for a place on Adelaid and running out of options. My buddy and I were  both hesitant about this place at first, but after getting our foot in the door it was safe to say that it was the only happening place on Adelaid. This place was full of confused college kids needless to say, and it would make you feel you're back in college. I must note that it was a bit pricey for a college student type of place.

Shots, drinks and a bottle of bambino after, I found myself at the London Tap House for Halloween.

Although I've been here once before, when it was known by something else, I found my experience to be very different. I'm older and much less crazy. I have a higher alcohol tolerance and I'm not on the prowl for a girl.

What I really wanted was to spend time with my friends and gf. Dancing was on her agenda, so I settled.

A word of warning, the coat check is on the top floor. You enter, go up narrow stairs, check in, and go down to the dance floor. At the end of the night, you struggle to balance after each step. You hold on to the people in front, hoping they are sober and understanding enough to guide you safely to your destination. My gf somehow ended up to by that guide, she was pretty good too.

I assume it was crowded because it was Halloween so I'll let that slide. The dance floor was on the small side. There is a stage in the middle of the club and then there's a 2 meter perimeter of dance floor around it. In summary, there are those who dance in one spot and then there are others that walk-dance. They walk as though they have somewhere to be and dance to fit in. Anyways, the result is a lot of stepped on toes and many sloppy apologies.

One thing that I learned that night was that I could dance on thousands of broken glass shards without ripping a hole in my shoes. Another thing I learned was that I could dance with my shoulders.

Overall, if you see a ghost in yo neighborhood, save the time and call the ghostbusters.

This is not British. It's not a tap house. Ugh.

Beer selection is terrible. They have only four taps! And all the stuff they have in bottles is giant macrobrew crap (Coors Light, Bud, Bud Light, Stella, Heineken). Nothing from Toronto (no Creemore, no Steam Whistle, no Kawartha Lakes, no Sleeman, no Mill Street).

Since I couldn't get a decent beer, I asked the bartender for a margarita (salt, rocks). First, he didn't know how to make one. Then, he claimed they didn't have the "equipment" to do that. You don't need equipment to make a margarita. (You need tequila, lime and triple sec.) I explained this to him.

Eventually he arrives with a glass with clear liquid and ice in it. He apologized, but he didn't have some way of salting the rim. Seriously?

I drank it, but I still don't believe it had any alcohol in it.

The bar selection and bar staff here are terrible. It's as if they aren't even trying.

    The Toronto Lover system:
    5 stars = Must visit!
4 stars = Really good. I take my friends here.
3 stars = Somewhat worth it... if you have nowhere better to go.
2 stars = Below average. Attend only when necessary.
1 star = Do not visit!

Way, way, way up at the top of this place is one of the most impressive patios in the city. Large beautiful picnic tables are spaciously scattered around an area that offers a nice bar and a great view of the city.

The problem? It's way, way, way up at the top this place. It's usually empty. They only serve cans of beer, which cost $6.

I dare a brilliant marketing person to make this place successful, because it really could be awesome. Right now, it's just a shame.

There weren't very many reviews about this place and I first heard about it from a friend. She suggested this place for my 21st birthday.
Here is my long review =p

I filled out the guestlist form on their website and received an email back right away telling me that they will contact me for more details. The next day I got an email asking for details about my party (number of people attending, that I could get a booth, when guests should arrive).
Before going to this place, I had high hopes because the staff was already so nice and accommodating. They sent me their menu and said that my guests should arrive before 10pm to avoid line ups and for free cover.
They also have happy hour from 5pm - 7pm

I went on a Friday night at 7pm for dinner. They have a free coat check, which I thought was great. The food was great, but for a "Tap House" they didn't have any dark beers on tap...or any other great beers for that matter. They also don't have pitchers. Bottles are pretty pricey, cocktails and shots are $6-$7 but they make them well, I had a Killer Koolaid and various shots (swedish berry, tequila, liquid cocaine, and jager bomb).

The place was dead until about midnight.
One of my friends came at 10:05 and they wanted him to pay cover. he asked if they had an ATM and they said screw it, just go in. I found it pretty stupid that they want all my guests to come before 10 because we were sitting around for 2 hours waiting for the place to fill up or looking like idiots by dancing on an empty dance floor...

By the time people filled the place, it was much better, but a little too crowded with weird creepers grinding up on you...unless you smack them with your clutch =D lol

The DJ was AWFUL.  I tried to request a song and he said OK...he never played it, and my friends tried to request it too, but he said he played it already when he didn't. Also, he played full songs, rather than just the good parts of songs. There were a lot of times where the crowd boo'd him for changing the song, so he plays the next one, then cuts it off and goes back to the song from before...
I am not a fan of him.

It got pretty gross later on with a couple on the couch making out, and the girl was getting fingered.
And this one girl we noticed at the beginning of the night made out with quite a few different guys over the course of the evening, she left limping with a black eye   with a group of girls. That was pretty entertaining.

The place is kind of a maze and the bathroom smelled like a pet store.
At the end of the night, we were going to get our coats. we didn't know there were 2 coat checks, so my friends who came later couldn't find their's and were told by the bouncer to go up a flight of stairs to get to it, or to go downstairs...too confusing for drunk people to comprehend at the end of the night.

All in all, I gave the London Tap House a 3 because the food was good, the staff were welcoming and very nice. But their DJ sucks and their drinks are too expensive. And the biggest problem is that for a TAP HOUSE there are no pitchers  and have a poor beer selection.

My review is ONLY for the summer roof top patio. Because it is the best. If you go at the right time (early evening), you can enjoy the sun starting to set over the city. And it's beautiful.

They also have a grill with burgers! Yum!

As for the inside at night? No thanks. Not my scene.

Dive-bar masquerading as a night club with lame interior, obnoxious music, boring crowd, stingy pours, and horrendous--literally insulting--service.

Either go to a proper dive bar or a proper night club...don't go here.

I went here for my 21st birthday. I got a huge booth and cover all for free because I told them it was my birthday. They called me three times regarding my booking and replied to every email I sent which was fantastic! The music was pretty good, although the dj didn't take my request and they need to not play country music, because it sucks!
The food up on the rooftop patio is great and their is a great view!
    :)
    I will be going back!

Here late with Australian colleagues for our own personal rooftop view for most of the night: I think between 11pm and 1am only a few other people came in.  Beautiful view and a perfect night for the weather.  Little bit disappointed that there was absolutely no food for people hanging out there for a little while.  Less plentiful selection of drinks on the roof but good specials and nice eye-candy waitstaff.

The club we wanted to go to was full and we could not get in. This bar/club was within walking distance, so we decided to come here. Big mistake, this place caters to younger crowds (19-21), not good for a over-the-hill clubber wannabe like me. A lot of immature boys trying to hook up with my friends, got to the point where it became pretty annoying. We left the club early and vow never to go back again.

Only good thing about this place is their patio, nice view of the CN Tower. But damn, a long climb up the stairs just to get to the patio.
