My friend and I typically get together once per month at Moon Under Water (awesome) and decided to give a new place a try. I my 20+ years of being in Victoria I had never been into any establishment that had occupied this space. I had no expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. The service was extremely attentive despite the fact that it was busy. The owner or management (both?) also seemed to err on the side of caution with regards to staff - there were lots and they were all keeping busy. On Friday nights they pump up the music - not my usual thing - but we were still able to have a conversation and really enjoy the night. My friend ordered a burger and I ordered the wings. Two basic staples you need to get right. His burger had a beautiful bun (brioche perhaps?), the fries were perfect and the patty clearly made in house. My wings were large, very tasty (salt and pepper) and crispy. the blue cheese dressing wasn't too strong either. These are not 25 Cent wings! Anyway I will be a local at The Local - thanks for a great night.

Beware of this tourist trap! Went here for brunch (God only knows why), and was very disappointed.

Their menu read well, it was short and sweet, but the delivery was bland and oh sooo Denny's.

Server asked us if we would like OJ and coffee, where are the prices on the menu? Felt sort of pressured to say yes and when I looked at my bill OJ was $3.50 a pop, and shit coffee (that is better at Mac's) $2.50 a pop.

The entire meal set me back $40+ for 2 people...

Only good thing I can say about this place is the friendly staff, that's about it I'm sad to say.

In the end I felt like the egg was in my face and not on the plate.

Strolling Victoria BC wharf area the bride and I finally chose The Local Kitchen.

I had pulled bbq pork and those unhealthy fries but both your tasty. My bride, well to be honest I forgot but she thought it was good.

The disappointment came in overall service it too about 10 minutes to be seated despite no 'wait'. Getting water seemed like another 10 minutes.

The atmosphere was nice, but the going out the door is 'The Local Kitchen' though good in feeling a couple of tummies was one of our lease favorite places

The only 2 reasons why this place is getting two stars out of me are because the service was great, and surprisingly, the Indian butter chicken dish was decent.
The 13-dollar hot wings were just too hot without any sort of flavor, and the blackened halibut wrap was overloaded with mayonnaise and absolutely flavorless.
Expensive and the food sucked = the worst combo ever.

Pros: Good chowders, decent ceviche, attractive wait staff.

Cons: Inept wait staff, high prices.

On another positive note, they were able to get me a half-Guinness, half-cider despite the waitress's confused look when I asked.

This restaurant is situated across from the harbor. My family and I were approaching this street looking for a place to eat. The Local Kitchen has an outdoor patio area where a lot of people seemed to be enjoying their food and one's company. One of the biggest indicators for me  in choosing a restaurant is how crowded the place is, and by the looks of The Local Kitchen, this place was a good choice. We look at the prices, and they weren't bad! Ranged from around 10-20 dollars for an entree.

We tell the hostess lady that we would like a table for 4, and she gave us the option to eat inside or outside. It was at that time of day where it started to get chilly, so we opted to eat indoors. We walk inside, and Oh my god, this place looks kinda dingy and dark  from the inside. To get to the dining area, we had to pass the bar, which seemed kind of strange to me, but I guess that's okay since Canada's legal drinking age is lower than the United States.

Our waitress was this beautiful asian woman. She was really welcoming and friendly. We ask the special of the day, and for that day, it was pork ribs. My mom got that, My cousin and I chose the seafood linguini, and my aunt picked the salmon sandwich. We also got lettuce wraps for our appetizer .

The lettuce wraps were good, The filling had pork and some spices. My mom's pork ribs were so tender that the meat just slid off the bone when attempting to eat it. My seafood linguini was okay, not great but not bad. The sauce was pretty good, but a little under seasoned.

I think the reason why this place wasn't a 4 star, was because of the service. Although the Asian Waitress was super friendly when we saw her, she was mostly never to be found. My god, I think I asked her for a refill of water 2 times, but she failed to come back. So that was when I asked the hostess (FROM OUTSIDE) if she could get us waters. REALLY?? Do i really gotta go outside just to get water. Rediculous.

Whatever, this place overall was like the food, okay, not great but not bad. I would consider going back, because the prices were very affordable =)

Good food, but a bit pricey. I would recommend the stuffed chicken fettucine, just wonderful.

Walking Wharf St we saw the menu and took a chance. Sat inside, and it is really a sports restaurant. A little loud, with a young crowd and young wait staff. The menu didn't really appear to reflect a "seafood" type of restaurant. The cider on tap was very nice as a full bar was available. I had the Wed. special, $20.00 NY steak with bacon Au Gratin potatoes. The steak was perfect "med rare" and the potatoes were killer. My wife had the steak salad which would have fed both of us, and she gives it a thumbs up. The waitress was friendly and spot on with service. This is a good value.

Nice patio. Beer was served in frosty mugs which is great on a sunny day. Good wine list  The turkey lettuce wraps were amazing and the local fish ceviche was pretty darn good too.
