Review from Jude B.
Victoria, BC
(there seems to be two listings for the same place)
My friend and I typically get together once per month at Moon Under Water (awesome) and decided to give a new place a try. I my 20+ years of being in Victoria I had never been into any establishment that had occupied this space. I had no expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. The service was extremely attentive despite the fact that it was busy. The owner or management (both?) also seemed to err on the side of caution with regards to staff - there were lots and they were all keeping busy. On Friday nights they pump up the music - not my usual thing - but we were still able to have a conversation and really enjoy the night. My friend ordered a burger and I ordered the wings. Two basic staples you need to get right. His burger had a beautiful bun (brioche perhaps?), the fries were perfect and the patty clearly made in house. My wings were large, very tasty (salt and pepper) and crispy. the blue cheese dressing wasn't too strong either. These are not 25 Cent wings! Anyway I will be a local at The Local - thanks for a great night. -

Maybe 3.5 stars. Got drinks and apps here...it was a little pricy for what i thought was on the menu. Maybe its just canada, but 7 bucks with tax for a beer? Really? On a Friday? at 5pm? Really? Ugh.
Crab cakes were $17 and we got 3 cakes on the plate. They were great, a little complex and kinda spicy. Waitress didnt know too much about the local brews that were on the menu...but maybe that's not for everyone.
The view is nice, but not necessarilly incredible. Its across the street from an openeing to see the harbor. Was probably expecting too much, a better view and lower pricing on a Bar & Grill menu. But still A-OK! -

Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had! Great prompt friendly service, good drink menu (very tasty mojitos!).
The location is fabulous for looking onto the wharf and just general people watching. I will definitely come back again to try more of the menu. Great patio and relaxed atmosphere. -

Lovely dining al fresco with a view of the water, great service, incredible food and very good local beers on tap.
Menu has a farm to fork emphasis and it shows in the quality of the ingredients. And, unlike some other places around here, Local is family-friendly. -

I came here with a group of 7 people for dinner, and enjoyed a glorious summer evening in the sun, near the water.
I enjoyed the sundried tomato hummus and olives appetizer, and the vegetable wrap. The food was good, but it didn't move me. The location and service were great, though.
As a vegetarian, I didn't enjoy the fact that there were only two vegetarian dishes on the menu (though what I had was good) -

Manages to rise to the level of its prime location. Great service matched up with some outstanding sandwiches - I had the club and my wife had something else pretty tasty.
Bottom line: great patio, very good service and carefully prepared food. -

5 stars are due to the ribs! My lady and I both agree that these were some good ass ribs! The sauce was good and there were plenty of fall off the bone goodness. Too bad it's in a different country and I have to take a boat to get there... fml!

Good service and location. Sadly, the menu reads far better than it tastes. If their execution catches up with their ideas, they'll be great. Good place for a beer with a view, though.

Came here on a birthday trip with my boyfriend Mike; got drawn in by the live music outside and the great view of the harbor. We each got a beer (the honey-brown ale: AWESOME!) and split an entree. We asked the waitress which of the pastas she recommended and she said the seafood linguine (which is what Mike wanted, so he was already pumped). The food came out very quickly and with two plates and two sets of utensils (a small detail that I always appreciate when splitting a meal). There was SO MUCH SEAFOOD on our pasta! Usually, with a seafood pasta dish, it's hard to find the seafood and the flavors all kind of mingle together, but it was almost hard to find the pasta under all the seafood! It was incredible! The fish was so good, it tasted really fresh. The prawns were cooked to perfection, and everything was in a butter/oil sauce instead of a thick cream which was a nice change of pace. The service was very quick and friendly, and the food was amazing. Not to mention the awesome view! I don't know why the other reviews have less than five stars, although we did only get a few beers and an entree. However, 5 stars for our experience!!
