Every time I'm in Winnipeg, I make sure to visit the Lo Pub. It's always a great time, they have live concerts going on every night, as well as karaoke or a DJ on some nights.
They like to emphasize on local beer, so they have great deals on local beers (Half Pints and Fort Garry), its well worth the money!
In the winter they have the fire place going so on a chilly day it's nice to relax on the couch by the fire while sipping on a nice cold St James Pale ale with friends!
Everytime I visit, I meet new people from all around Canada and beyond, who are usually staying at the Hostel upstairs of the Lo. There's new faces and regular faces there every time I visit -

I went to the Lo pub a few times with friends as it seems to be the local hang out for University of Winnipeg students. I liked the atmosphere though I never would have known where to find it were I not with people who had been before. Their prices are relatively decent and I hear their food is fantastic though I have to admit I've never had the chance to try it myself.
I would say the atmosphere is definitely better is larger groups of people. They had board games on hand but unless there is a bad or something playing it's relatively quiet depending on when you go.
Over all a great experience I would go again but probably not with just one other person, it's better in a group. -

Great poutine, great veggie burger, great service.
One of the top 3 veggie burgers in Winnipeg, easily. Finally a place that doesn't use junk cheese! -

I can not speak much to the pub part but the restaurant part is a place I like to stop by, and the last stop was again enjoyable. The server was very helpful and professional. My company for lunch had the special was a marinated portabello mushroom burger, I had the regular nut burger. We swapped half's of each others bugger, and what can I say they were both very good. We added in a 1/2 litre of wine, and The hole thing cost under $30 defiantly a good place for lunch, and a place I will be back to.

Review from Joél H.

Jack & Co. at the Lo have transformed the Gordon Downtowner into a cozy, comfortable and fun music venue and watering hole. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the food (provided by the Hi restaurant next door) is good for food you get at a pub. The fries are really good.
The crowd skews young, student-y and hipster-y. -

The Lo Pub is similar to a cool college pub (part of the Winnipeg Hi-Hostel) conveniently located behind Portage Place, near the University of Winnipeg.
Drink prices are reasonable, service is very friendly and the food from the hostel restaurant is delicious; many vegetarian options.
The music they play there is mostly indie and there are board games to entertain yourself with. Because the bar is part of the hostel, you will also meet people from afar.
