I was impressed from the moment I walked in. Friendly staff, fun and open atmostphere, art on the walls. Everything about the place is welcoming and offers a creative feel.
The sandwiches are made to order, with fresh ingredients, and gluten free options. It was the best sandwich I've ever tasted, with veggies and dip on the side. (totally worth the $6.95)
The free trade, organic drip coffee they serve is well above average for the downtown coffee shops, and I think they serve espresso and milk based drinks.
Free wifi, and a ton of tables would make this a great place to meet for a lunch meeting. It's not located totally downtown, but is worth the walk! -

Well, I went to Little Bean for the first time today. Sure, its nice in there, but what struck me right away was: identity crisis. Is this a bar, or a coffee shop? In the front, there were people sitting in comfy chairs on their laptops, doing coffee shop stuff. At the back, people playing pool and drinking beer. I don't think this really works.
Anyway, I went to the bar and ordered a coffee. The owner asked me to grab a seat, but the coffee didn't come for 10 minutes, even though the owner was not particularly busy, and walked by me several times. So I left, and went to Balzacs.
Will I go back? Sure I will. But not a great first impression. -

A stage for live music, lots of space, sandwich bar and cafe.
