This place turned me from a "my can't knit" to a "my can knit"!!
Super fun knitting for beginner class, the instructor was very patient and the other girls in the class were fun to hang out with.
If you want to learn, then I suggest this class, I tried on my own, but it is really nice to have someone show you. Also, if you make a mistake she can figure out what you've done and explain it to you, something you can't get if you are teaching yourself.
If you sign up for a class, you can buy the yarn and needles there. -

I'm an avid knitter and this shop is closer to me than any other yarn stores. I come here when I want to treat myself to something gorgeous. For everyday yarn needs (yes, I have everyday yarn needs), I generally head to one of the larger yarn stores first. Since this is a small yarn shop, the selection is limited but what they do have is gorgeous. Lots of artisanal and hand dyed or spun yarns. It's a bit pricey, but that's to be expected from a place that carries only luscious yarns.
The store is bright and welcoming and the staff have always been very helpful with choosing yarn and interpreting pattern requirements. They'll even wind your beautiful yarn for you, which is a nice treat. I haven't taken advantage of their cafe offerings, but everything sounds great. There's a big communal table that takes up most of the space in the room, around which there are often one or two people counting stitches and chatting. -

Aside from a brief attempt at crochet during one arts and crafts session at camp, my experience with the world of DIY clothes and fabrics stops at stitching pants buttons back on. But if I were into knitting, I'd probably be coming to the aptly-named Knit Cafe, which is part cafe, and part yarn shop and designated knitting zone.
The Knit Cafe has a pretty impressive collection of knitted, miniature Toronto landmarks currently on display (although the yarn CN Tower looks a little stumpy, alas). The coolest regular event held here is the Tuesday and Thursday "Stitch and Bitch" sessions, which are times to get together, knit, and gossip and vent. Just like the good old days! -

Good location - with fun, whimsical window displays, make sure to check them out if you're wandering in the area. Delicious beverages. Lovely yarn selection (all natural fibers!). Friendly, relaxed, warm environment. A really wonderful place to go and while away some time crafting, or just enjoying a drink.
There is a very lively Stitch & Bitch every Tuesday but people are welcome to stop by and knit any time the store is open! They also offer a fun selection of classes and have a delicious high tea the first Sunday of every month.
