Rare when you're traveling, no nonsense, pure goodness for your body kind of juice. I came across the juice truck while fighting the beginning of a cold, I also explained that to the owner. They recommended the remedy and volunteered to throw in a little ginger for me. Yes it's $7+ but from my juicing experience, unless you're juicing fruits the other stuff doesnt really have a lot of "volume" even though it's a nutritional powerhouse (think wheatgrass). I know my body loved it till the last drop.

Hope to see the juice truck again when I visit Vancouver!

After sampling The Juice Truck at the Yelp - MOV event, I knew I had to drop by to give 'em some love.

And because I knew I could depend on The Juice Truck guys for some healthy cold-pressed yummy-liciousness, it was the first place I thought of while being on a liquid-only diet that day.

I knew exactly what I wanted when I got there:

    THE Avocado Pineapple smoothie

    So refreshing...
    So Light...
It was like drinking a bit of summertime...which was interesting 'cause I was shivering from the cold, and had to dress my hands in some gloves to hold it. Ahh, the sacrifices we're willing to make for some liquid goodness!

I'll be back to try their other flay-vas...and I'll have to remember to wear warmer clothes!

I first heard about Juice Truck from my friend Nancy who runs the food blog, Coffee Foodies, and there was a Banana Bread smoothie that was a creation by the owners of Juice Truck, Zach and Ryan, and food writer for the Metronews, Erin Ireland.

During my days at Starbucks we used to blend pastries with frappuccino mix and make all sort of tasty (and nasty) concoctions. But one of the best ones was banana bread as a main ingredient for a smoothie.

So when they first featured their limited time offering for a banana bread smoothie I was so there. And it tasted fantastic!

The second time I went there, I asked for something that would cleanse and trust me they didn't disappoint. They gave me something that was extremely vegetative in flavour, and I knew that it was designed to be healthy. So I'm glad they didn't hold back and try to sugar coat it all.

The third time I went back I got the Avocado and Pineapple. And if you saw my review of the Yelp Party at MOV #YelpNight then you'll know that I'm raving fan of the drink. So good...avocados never tasted so excellent.

Staff are extremely friendly. Every time I go there, or if I bump into Zach and Ryan they've always been so friendly to chat with. Even when temperatures are freaking freezing.

Why no 5 stars. I must admit that the prices of the drinks aren't cheap relative to other smoothies. But you do get what you pay for, high quality and fresh ingredients. So the pricing is the only downfall.

Other than that here are some interesting side notes:
They have already been taped by the Food Network, and the filming took 8 hours for a small segment that's coming out in June or July.  They told me it's been delayed. SO GET THERE EARLY before it's too late. Remember Jethro's, which is now on Food Network?

And you can find both those guys on Twitter @juicetruck.

For months I've been dying to go to the Juice truck....finally, I had the opportunity to visit this wonderful pink truck that promises healthy and delicious cold pressed beverages.

The Almost Chocolate: Banana blended with medjool dates, almond butter, raw cacao, raw maca & soy Milk-  I wouldn't say this smoothie tasted "almost" chocolate, It tasted mostly like bananas with the little bits of cacao as a delicious chocolately surprise. I am a chocoholic so I was hoping for a little more Chocolate.

The Profile: their most popular juice probably because it it sweet. Me, on the other hand, not a fan of sweet BUT I did like this juice. It was apple pressed with pineapple, orange, pear and ginger. It was sweet but not overly and sorts had s mild cantaloupe taste... Perhaps it was the pear!?! I could not taste ginger which was disappointing but the pineapple added a very nice Zing to it!

The Cacao Coconut Bar: Walnuts with pecans, cacao, coconut meat, coconut flakes, raisins & maple syrup - a small bar, very coconuty and the layers sort of feel apart as I was eating it. It was okay, the flavors didn't blow me away.

Quite pricey @ $7-7.50/beverage but it's jam packed with healthy goodness and not surgery, processed fillers so totally worth the price. My only question is, could you give me the option to include the pulp in the juices? I love pulp and all the fiber that comes with it!

Note: gastown is a pedestrian friendly area that is super touristy with little street parking and very busy, narrow streets. If you take the car and don't plan on sticking around, make you sure you have wonderful companion who will drive around in circles waiting for you to get your juice/smoothie fix!

A couple of things to note about the Juice Truck:

    1. "WTF is jewce?"
They quote one of my absolute favourite Dave Chappelle bits on their website. +10 for this: 4 for knowing about it, and 6 for actually posting it in a public space meant to represent their company.

    2. Big. Pink. Truck.
A converted Grumman Kurbmaster from the 80s (it was the 80s, right guys?), this bad boy screams "we're fun! and would rather put a little time and money into a quality item than skimp out on something that we don't believe in." I don't even have to try their product to know what they're about. Another +10 for this one: 4 for retrofitting a rad truck, 4 for keeping the graphics simple, and 2 for being secure enough with their masculinity to not only be 2 dudes serving fancy juice, but 2 dudes serving fancy juice out of a pink truck. Like *rllyrlly* pink.

Which brings me to the actual product: Juice.

Daaaaamn, it is GOOD. Don't expect a sweet treat here, because that's not their schtick. They do local, seasonal, fresh fruits and veggies (minus a few avocados here and there), all blended or cold-pressed (yes, like that fiiine olive oil) to make a perfectly refreshing and energy-inducing drink. And really, could they be any cuter? Super passionate about their product, and genuinely happy to be a local business, these two make it easy for me to fork over a few extra bills to buy a drink.

Also, they're serving some kind of brownie amazingness that I wish I wrote the name of down because it is OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious. Healthy? Perhaps. I don't even care -- it made me feel all kinds of good.

I will be back, big pink truck. Oh yes. And more delicious smoothies, tasty juice and chocolate delights are sure to follow.

Using my iPhone free app called "Eat St." I located on of Vancouver's new food cart additions... Needing my fill of true Green juice.. I order menu item called: "The Green", with a shot of Wheatgrass on the side.. YummYumm goodness in my tumm... They serve a good selection of smoothies, pure veggie & fruit juice drinks.

The owner tells me they use a cold press machine called Nor-Walk apparently the only ones using this type in Vancouver. Its a system that gets the most freshness & complete good stuff from the veggies & fruit. Its a very expensive system and is used for cancer patients world wide.

Their mandate is to use locally grown or organic fruit an vegetables, PLUS bio-degradable cups...

The location for most week days is Abbott St just off corner of Water St in Gastown.

I was very impressed with the very friendly and super clean truck..

Not only is the juice delicious but the staff are extremely friendly and genuinely give a care about supplying its guests with a product that is tailored to their needs. Not to mention they are all very good looking ;).

Anyone complaining about the price should perhaps take their juice needs to starbucks just around the corner. I think they may have processed, frozen and powdered juices and smoothies that might be a better value. The juice may be pricey but it is fantastic and right now they are donating a portion of their proceeds to the F*CK cancer initiative.

I love you juice truck!!!! So happy to have you in the neighbourhood
