If you're looking for unique styles AND people...this is the place. The owner shops beyond Canada to find pieces you wouldn't find in Vancouver. I thought that was really cool. Most people just order online, but she actually makes the trips herself! They have clothing for both regular and curvy sized women. Not just the "it says XXL, but it really fits like an M" kinda deal. Also thought that was cool, so I've recommended the store to some of my curvier friends. There's always new stuff coming in to keep the variety going, it could be overwhelming to some, but it just means I'll always find something I like...and remember to snag something I want before someone else does. Did I mention totally affordable?? Also lotsa stockings and corsets (again, even in curvy which I think is pretty rare)!
It's always a pleasure popping in, even to just say hi. The staff will always greet you and ask if they can help you with anything. I've never felt so chill at a retail store before. They give you space as you wander without forgetting that you're still there. If I'm looking for something specific that day they will pull out some options, and always seem to know what's flattering for different body types- not just their own! It's like they really care about you looking good or something ;)
The vibe is also welcoming and fun. I've never seen them discriminate against anybody. Any sexuality/gender, any age (kids play area) are welcomed. I honestly don't know any other store like this...so if this sounds appealing at all, I encourage you to give them a go. Hearts! -

A salesperson at Change recommended this store when I asked her if they have any tights more interesting than regular fishnet. Jean Queen did have some interesting legwear, but they were more costumey than what I was looking for.
I got a cute knit dress for about $20. Yay!
I went just before Halloween, and about half the store was costumes. I wonder what the ratio is for the rest of the year. The Jeans percentage is next to none.Comment from Corina p. of The Jean Queen 1/24/2012

I love the Jean Queen!
Always something fun to find here and friendly helpful staff. As a generously proportioned gal, I appreciate the curvy girls section that includes dresses, fun tops, corsets, leggings and more. My fave shopping spot on Commercial Drive. Oh and they have tutus! -

This place is cheap and right up my street (well, not literally up my street, but ya know what I mean). Loadsa cool clothing, casual, smart, comfy, sexy, and all at cheap to reasonable prices! Oh and friendly staff :)
I picked up a small top, scarf, and earrings, and spent under $35, score! So exciting to find somewhere individual like this; am not gonna be bumping into someone with the exact same top on this winter I tells ya! -

How have I never bought anything in here before?? The name is a bit misleading, as I don't think I saw one pair of jeans anywhere in this store, they sure had a lot of fun clothes though! The Jean Queen has an array of cute work appropriate attire mixed in with little crinolines, stockings and accessories.
I found a red sequin shirt for $12! Yes, twelve whole earth dollars! The staff stuck me in the Marie Antoinette changing room which was adorable, and made me feel like a princess. They were very helpful in getting me sizes and I spoke to them about an exchange I have at home, but am still waiting for the receipt on. (It was a gift from a friend for my birthday but was too small.) Even though it has been over a month, they told me not to worry and bring it in for something else.
I'm looking forward to my next adventure out to this store, when I will be able to spend more time in that Marie Antoinette changing room! -

The Jean Queen is awesome! It's been down the street from my house for years but I only just discovered it a few months ago when I was Christmas shopping. I'm a Guy & I normally hate going into Ladies' Boutiques but this place was laid out really well, everything looked great and was reasonably priced. I picked up a cute little animal pendant & earrings for my Niece, a nice blouse for My Mom, crazy stockings for my Sister & a super sexy corset for my Girlfriend. They all loved them & it didn't break the bank! Since then I've been there every time I want to get something for one of my girls. And the Clerks there are really helpful too. Thanks Jean Queen, you've made my life much easier!

What a cute store!
I see it all the time but assumed they just sold jeans... for obvious reasons. This time I walked past the store on the proper side of the street and was lured in by all the polka dots.
Holy cute dresses! Everything from 50's style to skanky as hell. And amazing prices! I will be back for sure. I was really impressed with the range of sizes! I actually tried on one really cute black dress that turned out to be too big, which NEVER happens to me! So that was pretty great. Even though I left empty handed.
I can't wait to go back when I have some more time on my hands!

I love this funky little gem!
Highlights:
-Super sweet and adorable staff (Rosie is the best!)

-Funky affordable clothes that can fit even us curvy gals!
-Cute dresses (deserve their own category)
-Fun and affordable jewelry
My out of town gf's always ask me to being them to the JQ, so I'm always having to be tempted by the super cute items in here. But life could be worse, hehe. -

I've been trying to find toe socks before Coachella with no luck. When I wasn't looking, there they were. The socks were fairly priced which was awesome. I am wearing them now. The dresses are nice and reasonably priced by my standards. The staff is ultra friendly and sociable which is always a plus.

I looked at the website before coming here, and for some reason expected the store to be bigger than it was. Jean Queen has the feel of a thrift store- you're not always going to find what you want (or in your size), but it's fun to hunt around. The accessories here are always super cute, and it's always a place to go for leggings and fun socks. The clothing changes too frequently to come in here expecting to find a dress or whatever.
I love to pop in here when I'm shopping on Commercial. It's not too far from the Skytrain, just a block or two north on the left side. They're open all week, they open at 11 (12 on Sunday) so no early bird shopping here! -

Just because I live (practically) across the street does not mean I frequent here super often. I do, however, remember the queen from back when it was a small thrift store further up the drive...

Ok, so I wasn't always a corset-dress shopping nutter, but I sure am now.. I love to dress up and this definitely is a good place to do it all..
I got myself some hot leggings, a corset-style shirt, a lovely work/play blouse AND a saucy pair of panties.. all for under 100.. ooooh yeah... this is gonna be a good weekend... -

When The Jean Queen first opened its doors to the public in 2000, it carried only used clothing and accessories and it has now changed up its inventory to include only new pieces. Eight years of selling clothes and accessories seen The Jean Queen through some major phases of change but it still remains a great place to pick up major deals on women's designs from California and beyond.
Whenever I come in here, the plethora of lovely sales women bombards me with 'hello's and 'by the way, we have a sale on jewellery and jeans and this and that' and I always come out the door with a little something for myself. These ladies know how to sell, and they do it without making you feel pressured. There really are some amazing deals here if you take the time to rummage through the racks. Also, The Jean Queen carries a huge selection of great, sexy tights, body-stockings and underpinnings to wear with your new outfit...or without!
Today I bought a cute silver ring for 12 dollars and a sparkly top for 15 dollars, a steal! -

Super cute store! I thought it was going to focus more on Jeans but they've got a pretty wide range of styles and even some costume stuff. My daughter needed jeans and at 13 she's pretty particular about what she's looking for. I got momentarily worried when we walked in as there's so much more than jeans here. It was a delightful surprise when we spotted black, skinny jeans with no fancy stitching on the pockets. They were only $39 too and the denim had some good weight so hopefully they'll last too. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I'll be back to look for some fun things for myself soon.
