I've been here a few times now, as a friend lives in the area. To be honest, there is nothing that really stands out about this place for me other than the location and in the summer, the patio. The decor is sort of...sterile but there are plenty of seats and lots of space.

There's a pretty big beer selection, and the nachos I got were fine. Not amazing, not horrible, just fine. The server did comment a number of times that they were the best looking nachos the kitchen had ever put together. Oh -- the service was really good. Attentive but not annoying.

To sum up, a good place for a quick drink but if my friend didn't live in the area I wouldn't make the trek back here.

A group of work friends decided to meet for drinks, and this is where we ended up. Why? Its conveniently close to the office. Again? Methinks not.

The Jason George is your typical neighbourhood pub in every way, from the decor, to the service and food. Except for the fact that its in a prime tourist location, so they feel like they can jack their prices for subpar pub fare.

Pints were almost $7, I wasn't drinking anything too high end of exclusive (Blanche De Chamblay). Mixed drinks were $6.

We ordered food. If you happen to be here, don't bother. No better than Caseys. Had a turkey grilled cheese with a side salad. Not very good, too much butter (yes, its possible), rubbery cold cut turkey. Side salad was typical mixed greens, unripe tomatoes. Other ordered appetizers, the calamari was over-battered, very greasy, deep friend pickes the same.

Verdict. Don't stop. Keep walking. Go to Betty's around the corner.

Went here not too long ago to patio it up with a few drinks.

I suppose it's worth noting that they have a fairly decent-sized selection of beer, though beer isn't really my thing.

The location is decent, the inside looks very presentable (though I stayed outside), and the prices weren't offensive or anything.

One thing that was definitely lacking was the service. The waitress was very nice, but I think I only saw her twice the only time I was there. No checking up whatsoever. Waiting for her to pop up when I wanted to ask for the bill was no picnic either. Considering I was a drinks-only situation, you'd think it wouldn't be that hard to stay on top of the situation, not to mention the fact that the inside was dead at the time.

Oh well. There are only about a thousand other places in the vicinity of this one. Thanks but no thanks, Jason George.

This place is right across the street from my friend's condo. She needed to eat, and after 9 months of no alcohol - I needed a drink. We went late afternoon and the service was quite slow, even though it was not busy.  When the evening waiter came he was much more attentive. I do feel I need to review this place because I have a fondess for deep fried pickles. There aren't a lot of places in the city that serve this delicious spears up.  There were pretty good. Not the best, but I wasn't expecting too much and it complimented my pint of Magners nicely.

Went to grab some late dinner and drinks here last night. The vibe inside is pretty cozy and it very much feels like your average corner pub. We found a booth and settled in and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The beer selection is average.

Appetizers: Baked brie with roasted garlic and deep-fried calamari. The brie & garlic were great--everyone raved about it and it was gone in no time at all. It came with a side of cranberry sauce and some greens. The calamari was good--not overdone, not over-fried--and a pretty sizable portion, too!

For mains, we had the specials: grilled cheese with broccoli soup and angel hair pasta with seafood medley. The grilled cheese is probably the best I've had so far--great, fresh bread, real cheddar cheese and bacon! Divine. Should've been paired with tomato soup, though. The angel hair pasta came with some great garlic bread and was stuffed with various creatures from the sea. Yum. I couldn't finish and took the rest for lunch the next day.

Overall, this place isn't anything special, but I would go back for some more of that grilled cheese.

PS - The patio is a great place to watch a hockey game on a warm night.

From the outside, you'd expect this pub to be one of those typical over priced joints that seem to pop up around town.  Unfortunately, that's exactly what you're going to get inside.

While the food and beer selections are diverse, there is not a lot that puts this place over the top in a neighborhood filled with similar places.

If you're looking for great food at good prices and an even better drink selection, I'd recommend heading down the street to C'est What instead.

The saving grace is their great patio, which proves to be an excellent lunch time spot in the summer heat.  Good shade coverage from the trees and umbrellas and a good spot for people watching.

I probably had the worst service from my entire life here. It was smokin' hot outside, and there were lots of empty tables. Husband asked for a beer, I asked for a diet coke.

Ten minutes later, his beer arrived. Nothing that resembled a diet coke, though. I waited, waited and waited. About 15 minutes later, I asked another waitress, who was not exactly friendly, for my drink. And I had to wait a few more minutes for it. Like, dude, IT'S JUST A DIET COKE.

After finishing our beverages, we asked for the bill, and as we were already expecting, it took ages, as well as the change.

I'm never coming back to this place.

This place was crowded outside on Saturday night, but empty inside. Waitress got our drinks right surprisingly after stopping at several tables to take orders w/o writing them down. Then we watched the customers at the table who came after us get their food. Then the customers who came after that get their food. About 45 minutes later I said out loud that it was ridiculous four tables got their food before us. That's when the waitress decided to come over and tell us something happened in the kitchen. We ordered two burgers! What can you get wrong? Got home and found grease all over the back of my pants. Ridiculous. At least the burger was good, but not worth the wait or the grease stained pants.

Pretty standard pub that apparently uses its location to justify their expensive prices. This really reminded of the worse places I've been to in Copacabana while I was living in Rio. By the way, I'm starting to get the impression that most places on Front Street tend to be tourist traps, but I digress.

The service was TERRIBLE and they didn't even have a decent excuse for that. We went during the Busker Festival, but the place wasn't even close to packed -- much on the contrary, actually.

I ordered a beer that took ages to arrive and my wife ordered a Diet Coke that, for some reason, took even longer. We asked for the bill and -- get this -- we got the wrong tab back. Yep, you read it right: this is a place that managed to screw up even the most basic things.

    Avoid at all costs.

It seems like this is going to be a pricier pub when you pass by but it really isn't.
It is in an excellent location just off the busier sections of the financial/corktown district.  comfortably sitting on Jarvis on Front, it also has an excellent patio that is conducive to long conversations while enjoying the affordable pints.

I'm a little off-put by the non-chalant blase attitude of the servers.  But you get used to it.
As long as you don't mind the servers not even bothering to feign interest and occasionally getting your drink order [very] wrong- it's a solid place = )

I wouldn't say I had a terrible experience here, but the whole thing could have been much better!
Our group came here after realizing that the 15-20 empty tables at C'est What across the street all had 'reserve' signs on them at ~12am! More on that later...
To start off, we were only able to order fryer food because the cook was about to leave and didn't want to start anything that took time to prepare. This is fine I guess. From what we could order, the calamari were above average, but on the other hand, the sweet potato fries were some of the worst I've ever had (not to mention this is the first place I have seen them being served with sour cream on the side)!
So far an average of about 3*, but where they lose another is the service. The waiter who was in charge of our group, aside from being sparse (i.e. sitting at other tables and chatting or smoking outside), had a smart-ass attitude that no one in our group exactly appreciated. Maybe this bar has regular patrons who selectively get the buddy-buddy reception, or maybe they thought we were some Friday night tourists who happened to stumble in, but it did not seem like they cared for our business. To extend this to the actual barkeep, it was funny to see BIjan ordering a simple cocktail with rum, mint, and lime, and being met with the response that 'he's in a pub, and they pretty much just serve beer'. Needless to say I was totally baffled by this, especially since they have a full liquor selection (as with any bar!), and a 'bartender'.
On a totally different note, the WC is located pretty much in a different building and I'd hate to make the trip there if I were under the influence!

That being said, there are a few positives notes about Jason George. To my liking, they serve Blanche de Chambly, and the prices are great for the area. Decent place to go for a quick pint, but Toronto can do better.

You always worry when the folks that make a restaurant great up and leave to start another place.  There's always something that seems to get lost in the original chemistry of their first place.  Also, when you're faced with the old place that they left and the new place they've started, loyalty really gets you into bother and you hate playing favourites.

The folks that started up Jason George (named after the owner's son I believe) also seemed to ensure that they kept the initials from the place they left, the Jersey Giant (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...).  This is a pub that I've been in since it opened and always have fun there.  A small patio outside is great in the summer and the booths at the side and rear of the place are intimate enough for quiet conversation.  It also seems that whenever I'm there, Paul the bartender is as well.  This then typically becomes a session night where the one you came in for becomes harder and harder to find as the minutes pass.

Recommended are the burgers, the curry, and the beer.  I hate nasty break-ups but this place appears to have survived nicely.

Had our company Christmas party at the Jason George last night.  I am not a beer conoisseur, but when the waitress came around to take beer orders, the list seemed a bit scant. My colleague asked for about 2 different beers which they did not seem to have.  You would think that with all the other competition in the area that they would at least beef up their selection.  Hopefully they have other tricks up their sleeve to make up for their scant beer selection.  The food was typical pub fare.  Nothing really blew my socks off.  Would probably not go back again.
