Just returned from a FANTASTIC stay here. As the previous Yelper mentioned, we too received a very generous upgrade from a standard Euro room to a Penthouse Suite, and what a treat! It was also off-season, but it seems that upgrades are something they try and do whenever they can. They are also new (open less than a year), so it might be something they are doing now to garner positive feedback and build a following, but hey, it works!
It was definitely a luxurious stay, with the nicest sheets I have ever slept in, heated floors in the bathroom, views from every window, and a very spacious multi-level penthouse. Fireplace, great kitchen, and really wonderful shampoo/conditioner and soaps. The in-house coffee was also awesome!
Very clean, modern and sheek, quite the opposite of our usual Island Bed and Breakfasts, but everyone needs a little luxury in their life.
I highly recommend staying here, and try and go in the off-season, a nice upgrade might be waiting for you!
* I should also note that I peeked into the Euro rooms that were empty, and would not have minded those either. They are significantly smaller and without much of a view, but the space is so well utilized and the same luxurious sheets and little touches are found in the Euro rooms too, and they are about half the price.Comment from Island I. of The Island Inn at 123 West Friday Harbor 4/26/2012

I stayed here for a winter business trip. Loved the location-right off of the ferry-no car necessary. You can walk to restuarants and shops. Loved the view of the harbor. Loved the facility-large and open-modern-clean-a place that is inviting and perfect for long stays. The owners are gracious and they did a remarkable job designing this facility to fit in with Friday Harbor. It might be a little busy around the location during the summer months-so not sure how noisy it gets outside then-but during the winter it was quiet and peaceful and perfect for my work environment as a writer.

I treated my fiance to a little weekend getaway to Friday Harbor, and I'm soooo glad that I chose to stay at the Island Inn! We both absolutely loved our stay here! It's really close to the ferry and you can see the property clearly from the dock, so it's pretty impossible to have a hard time finding the Island Inn.
Scott and Lauren are both very nice and extremely accommodating. We arrived to the island several hours before check in, but we were able to leave our luggage with them and wander around while our room was being cleaned. Lauren was also nice enough to give us a call when our room was ready so we could get settled in (even though it was before their regular check in). Also, when we were leaving the island, we were able to hang out in the lobby area where the eurostyle rooms were to kill time before our flight back to Seattle. I thought it was awesome that they had cards and other games (dominoes, chess, checkers) that the guests could use during their stay.
As for the rooms themselves, we stayed in the eurostyle room. It was VERY clean, which is always a nice plus. Usually, I cringe when I think about walking around a hotel room without socks on, but I didn't have that problem here. :) Also, hooray for free wifi and for super soft mattress pads and sheets!!! The one thing that I would like to point out about staying in the eurostyle rooms is that there are 3 rooms that are right next to each other, and they all lead into the one lobby area. So, with that in mind, you're really at the mercy of the other guests in terms of how loud they are. I'm a light sleeper, and when the other guests were in the area outside our room, it woke me up in the morning. :(
If you can't already tell by my glowing review, I would highly, highly recommend that you stay here if you're visiting Friday Harbor; I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. -

The only problem with staying at the Island Inn is checking out - I would love to move in! This is the most amazing hotel I've ever visited. Everything is perfect, inside and out. The attention to detail is incredible, far too many examples to list. We were upgraded from a Euro room to a Penthouse, on top of the off-season discount. The decor is modern, all light and clean lines. The view is incredible. I actually used the shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion, which is unheard of for me. The steam shower is self-contained, so the bathroom doesn't get hot and humid, no matter how much time you spend in there. And, such good sleeping! I had no idea that sheets could be this soft; seriously, I'm planning to buy sets as Christmas gifts next year. Of course, the location is perfect, too. All of Friday Harbor's restaurants and shops are within an easy walk. Misty and Scott were very helpful and personable, as was everyone else we encountered here. The only downsides, and they're hardly worth mentioning, are the slow WiFi and tight parking. But really, the Island Inn is awesome!
I have a history of finding cool boutique hotels when they're new and reasonably priced, only to find that prices have soared well beyond my budget the next time I'm in town. So I don't know whether I'll be able to stay here next time, but I hope so. And if not, I'm thrilled to have experienced this place once!Comment from Island I. of The Island Inn at 123 West Friday Harbor 4/26/2012

This review is certainly biased, as we got a generous upgrade to a penthouse suite during the off-season. However, it is easily the nicest place I have ever had the privilege of "habiting" for any period of time. Wow...every last detail was obviously attended to by someone with impeccable taste, with no compromises made. Harney and Sons tea by the stove (which has its own faucet). Beautiful hardwood floor. Remote-controlled fireplace. Large windows overlooking the harbor. AMAZING bed with a thread-count that I've probably never heard of (it was incredibly comfortable). Steam shower, fancy soaps and shampoo, heated floors, indoor garage parking. Again, biased review, but this place is incredible.

The Island Inn at 123 West seriously raises the bar for lodging in Friday Harbor. Their motto is "ready, set, slow" which to me means "relax, enjoy, and let us worry it." And the Island Inn delivers. We stayed in a euro-style guestroom that was nestled between two similar rooms. Interior was comfy, contemporary, perfectly simple, and brand-new-clean-and-sparkling. The rooms are co-located with a common gathering room, complete with multiple small tables and chairs, couches, fireplace and... games! We played dominoes one night for a couple hours, falling into the activity just like you would in your own home on its best night. Love that touch. Location and rates are great and the owner and staff are the best.

We had a wonderful stay at the Island Inn, and we wish we could have stayed longer. Our room was clean, modern, but still homey.
The steam shower is awesome. After 10 days of hiking, kayaking, biking in Seattle and Vancouver, the steam shower was exactly what I needed. Our stay at the Island Inn was the most relaxing, enjoyable leg of the trip. We hope to get back! -
