I feel the need to review Home Depot because of the OUTSTANDING service I received yesterday. I'm sort of at the moment the primary caretaker of my parents house and over the weekend while I was away, our hot water tank broke and was leaking everywhere and I have no idea how to deal with that. It broke and was replaced 2 years ago too, but my sister and uncle dealt with it then. This time it was my turn.
I had already been having a really bad day for personal reasons, add on a broken hot water tank and you have a Reena already in tears trying to hold them back. I go to Home Depot and I was expecting to have such a hassle trying to figure out this whole tank thing, but they got a guy in the plumbing dept right away for me. His name was Saleem and he went out of his way to help me for an hour an a half. This location didn't have the type of tank I needed, but he tracked down a store (after calling a few different ones) that did have one and arranged for everything to be delivered and installed in my house today. And he was really nice to me. So while the whole incident was a hassle, Saleem did a great job of easing the headache.

Asking for help sometimes turns into a circlejerk of pass-the-customer. Which is better than a simple "I don't know".
In a recent example they weren't able to help me for a custom bit of work I needed that should have been simple (getting some floor tiles cut) but it turns out no... they did try and give some alternative options I could try instead. -

Sometimes good, sometimes bad.
Our experience at Home Depot is hit and miss. We were looking at kitchen cabinets and countertops and couldn't wait to get away from the person working in that department who obviously had no clue what she was talking about but wanted to push to send someone to our house for a consultation. The next visit we had two extremely knowledgable and helpful staff assist us purchasing bathroom faucets.
I love their no hassle returns, huge selection, and overall I'm happy with Home Depot. -

The cellulose insulation blower had to be fed tiny pieces of cellulose to avoid jamming, took forever! A real shame, cellulose is a much better product than the highly marketed, but potentially carcinogenic fiberglass.
