Yum.
My co-worker and I both ordered a #1. We were trying to make life easier.
It's a good standard burger. Lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions, mayo, on a bun. I like that the gal asked to make sure I was okay with having all of those toppings, and listed them by name instead of making me look up to see what was in it. Great service from everyone we encountered.
I like the fries, not too shoe-stringy, not too steak-fry-y. Great dipping and munching size :)
The burgers were smaller than I expected, but it was refreshing not to be given a heart attack on a plate. The disappointing part was the "grilled onions." It looked and tasted like they had been grilled that morning and were sitting around all day waiting to be scooped onto the burger. It also wasn't nearly enough, probably the size of a quarter...
Best part? $0.95 ice cream cones! Where can you get that anymore? -

This is a pretty good new burger joint here in Carmel Mtn Ranch. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the burger for the price.
The Char burgers are great and fill you up. Definitely on par with In-n-out. For some reason i feel fuller after eating here though, which I guess is a good thing. Tried the Teriyaki Char tonight and is on point as well. Only gripe is on the Tri-Tip sandwhich. It was way too chewy for my taste. Fries are good too. Definitely recommended! -

This place took over Cheeburger Cheeburger's old spot (next to Pier One).
What we ordered:
- Chicken sandwich on sourdough (I added mushrooms & it came out pretty good!). - Sweet potato fries and onion rings (sweet potato fries were 'meh' but the onion rings were pretty good).
- Tri tip sandwich (pretty good, meat wasn't overcooked and it went pretty well together).
We didn't see a clean table so we weren't happy that we had to wipe down our own table/seats.. I was impressed with their menu options though as I saw a couple of salad/healthier options. They have so many charburger options for the meat lover in your group -

This place has bomb food. sweet potato fries are my favorite. The burgers are different but a good different. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because in-n-out is down the street (for cheaper) and i eat a lot and these portions don't fill fill me up.

Love the burgers. Been there 2 times. Ordered #1 with everything first time then mushroom Swiss 2nd time. Burgers were moist, buns were toasted, the grilled onions were sweet. No disappointment both times. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Yummy! I went here on a whim with a few co-workers and the experience was better than expected. The atmosphere was a classier version of a fast food hamburger joint, there was ample seating that was inviting and the staff was incredibly friendly but not annoying. There is also an outside patio that is very clean and well kept.
I had the mushroom swiss burger and fries. The serving was enough and the prices were very reasonable. It is affordable enough to take a family out for a quick bite. The burgers start out around $3 with general toppings and of course you can add more toppings (bacon, cheese, avocado) for additional $. There is a pepper bar that consists of jalapenos, wax peppers, and pepperoncini, as well as other available condiments. Fries and onion rings (delicious!) are priced under $2 and they also have shakes and salads.
Orders are placed at the counter and vibrating buzzers are provided to alert customers when orders are ready. It took less than five minutes for my order to come up during the busy lunchtime rush.
As we were leaving, the manager approached my large group to see how the experience was. We all agreed it was great. This place is located in Carmel Mtn next to Rubio's where Cheeburger Cheeburger used to be. It was completely remodeled and has a much warmer atmosphere. Enjoy! -

Having heard this place was great in the L.A area from a friend I decided to try it. I guess i was expecting too high of standards thinking it would be gourmet burgers.
The Bun on the burger was pretty good. It had a nice crisp to it but not too much so that it cuts the roof of your mouth (Hate that). The Patty itself seemed to be the normal "fast food" patty but with the char of the grill.
In short, the burger was nothing out of the ordinary.
On the other hand I did like that they have a small pepper bar where you can add peppercini and jalapenos to your burger (Kind of odd to have the worchestire bottle out there as well...)
So If you're looking for a quick fix for that burger crave and you want a little char taste to it, come here. If you're looking for gourmet burgers, try somewhere else. -

Very tasty food. I tried a BBQ bacon burger with cheese and also their sweet potato fries and onion rings. I was very impressed all around. The prices are good as well.
It was busy, but not too cramped. The inside had quite a bit of seating and they had a nice patio area to sit in as well that had propane heaters that you could sit near if it is too cold.
I give it a very solid 4 stars. -

OK, I really like this place. I've given it several tries and I haven't been let down.
I do have to agree with other reviews that yes, this places is similar to In n Out, but honestly I think it's a little better. I really like the char-broiled burger and the ONION RINGS are wonderful! The burgers are cooked well and have plenty of flavor. Did I mention the onion rings? My husband & I usually split an order and we think we get a good amount. I mean you can never have enough onion rings...but splitting them makes us feel less guilty about grease consumption.
The biggest plus for me is that The Habit is also a really great place to bring our kids. Its one of the burger joints we can actually afford to bring our kids to and we all get to order drinks! The place can get a little noisy when it's busy - but who wants to take two boys to a quiet restaurant??
I'm glad The Habit moved in and I hope it's here to stay!! -

I LIKE this place, but only as a friend :) The service was AWESOME. Everyone was very friendly and when they screwed up our order they fixed it right away and gave us coupons for free burgers on our next visit. The burgers were ok - I'm talking about the actual meat. All of the toppings were decent but not the super fresh awesomeness of Smashburger. I'm sorry, but Smashburger has just ruined other burger places for me (except for Fudruckers, which I L-O-V-E). The fries were just ok. All in all - it's a decent place to get a burger but if you're going to spend the money for a fastish foot sit down place - go to Smashburger.

Was in the mood for meat and finally decided to try The Habit. Hubby tried the Mushroom Swiss Char and I'd give it a 3 stars. I am HUGE fan of mushrooms and melted swiss cheese but this one was just ok for me.
My Tri-Tip sandwich, on the other hand, was one of the yummiest I have had. My only beef (ha, ha ... get it ... beef) with it was that the chunks of meat were a bit of the big side. Kind of hard to get it all in one bite. Still, tasty and quite flavorful.
Onion Rings? YES PLEASE! At a $1.95, I would have wanted to order more than one serving but sanity prevailed. Next time, Habit, next time.
I'll be back! -
Review from Yoon P.
Their Veggie burger is only $4.85 and is much bigger than their Char burger. Comes with my favorite vegetables - sprouts, cucumber, onion, lettuce, with honey dijon as well as good quality veggie patty.
The sweet potato fries are good too. Just make sure to eat them right away!! -
Review from Kate G.
Ehhhhhh. My parents seem to be obsessed with this place, so I agreed to meet them here for dinner one day.
The veggie burger is a garden patty. I HATE garden patties. They are just so very wrong... I would've appreciated a soy-based patty that was meatier.
The fries were fine. And the prices were good, similar to In N Out's pricing. But there is no drive-thru. You have to either eat in or go in to take it out.
The most disturbing thing about this experience? They were blasting Enya outside in their patio dining area. I don't even understand. -

A sit down burger joint w/ cheap prices, I'm a fan. Make the burger pretty damn decent, I'll be back. That's whats up with The Habit.
When we first walked in we were expecting something like Smashburger or Father's Office but it's definitely more laid back with no pressure to be a burger connoisseur or whatnot. Plenty of seating, condiments to add, clean, quick service, everything was pretty much a thumbs up. Maybe it won't knock your socks off but you'll leave happy. -

I have been to this place twice & both experiences were positive. Their customer service is through the roof, everything is clean and dry.
My second experience could have been a negative one but Jose quickly changed that. Their card machine wasn't working properly and the cashier was doing everything she could, she apologized for the delay she even changed computers to try and problem solve. Unfortunately, she had to get Jose (don't know his title) and he couldn't figure it out at that moment so he gave her his "okay " to give us a free meal for the inconvince. When he walked into the back he came back out with a phone in his hand trying to solve the problem.
As my boyfriend and I sat at our table we noticed the cashier continued to hand out free meal until the technology glitch was fix. Instead of inconvincing their customers they accommodated them.
PRO
- clean
- workers are efficient in their duties
- everything is made to order & you can see it being made
- various sauces to choose from
- free refills!
- outside heating lamps for the people who like to sit in the patio
CON
- parking could be a problem for some
- limited choices could be a problem for some but they have a Vegetarian Options
Will definitely be back! -

SENSATIONAL!!! We ordered the basic burger and fries plus some onion rings. There was another burger place in this spot called "Cheeseburger Cheeseburger" which was awful, so finding the food SO much better was a nice surprise. The burgers were delicious, really excellent... I'm trying to remember when I've had a better tasting burger. The fries were also excellent, and a single order is really enough for two people. The onion rings were BEYOND excellent. It's hard to find good onion rings. Overall it was a nice surprise to find everything absolutely delicious. Great family place. Not terribly expensive, either. I'd love to go back again. Hope they stick around for a long time.
---
My daughter and I had lunch at The Habit during Easter Break. I had a veggie-burger and she had a cheeseburger, and we split some onion rings and fries. The food was excellent, again, and it was a real deal, under twenty bucks for two burgers, fries, onion rings and two drinks. The staff really goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and to make sure everything is satisfactory. Terrific spot, we'll definitely be back again. -
Review from Rachel Q.
Family and I came here because its a new place to eat.. and we all like to eat out..
My mom and hubby ordered a charburger with cheese and I ordered a mushroom swiss burger. We also ordered sweet potato fries and a chocolate milkshake.
My mom asked for no mayo on her burger. When we picked up our food, the lady pointed at one and said that it was the one with no mayo... But when we looked at it, it totally had mayo!
They agreed to redo it, but you would assume that they would consider that a priority due to their mistake. It took quite a while because they did everyone else's order before getting to hers. Hubby and I were finished with our burger before mom got hers.
Not cool, Habit. Not cool.
Tastewise, the burgers were pretty good. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful.
Despite the small incident, we all agreed we would come back again.
The booths really couldn't hold an infant carrier in them. And the highchairs that they had didn't accomodate an infant carrier either. So we had to put her on a chair and hubby had to hold onto the carrier the entire time. Really inconvenient. I don't know if there were changing tables in the bathroom.. my baby was asleep the whole time..
So the place isn't too "new mommy" friendly... But the food definitely makes up for it. -

First, I have to admit a slight bias. I used to live in the West Valley area of Los Angeles. The Habit was pretty big there, and I quickly developed a taste for their food. This location opened up within the last three months and I was absolutely ecstatic to see the familiar sign where Cheeburger once stood.
As my friends will tell you, I enjoy a good burger, but am damn picky about it. The Habit found some way to forge a telepathic link to my subconscious and molded their burgers to the highest of standards. With shredded lettuce, pickles, GRILLED (oh, my) onion, and tomato standard you have to actively TRY to destroy the flavor sensations. That said, there are alternative meat varieties and flavor combinations (BBQ, Swiss % Mushroom) available on the menu. Not to mention salads, malts, ice cream, and SWEET POTATO FRIES! Also, unlike other burger joints that offer a single or a double (double) and generally leave you hankering for more, The Habit's single burger is most satisfying
Similar to the other locations in LA, this site is clean, run most efficiently, and the staff is friendly. For those of you who swear by Smashburger, Five Guys, In-N-Out, or any of the other burger-centric eateries, I say try the Habit. You will not be disappointed and may, in fact, be converted. -
Review from David H.
I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Charburger with fries and a drink. It comes with all of the fixings, lettuce, tomato, carmelized, onions, mayo and pickle on a nice toasted bun. It was good, but I didn't know it came with all of that. I like my mushroom swiss burgers kind of basic (with meat, cheese, mushrooms, onions and mayo), don't like it with pickles, lettuce or tomato. Don't get me wrong, I like lettuce and tomato on a regular burger, but not on my mushroom swiss burger. Price for all of that was $8.03 so it was under $10.00! Not too bad considering other places like Five Guys, Smashburger, Red Robin or Fuddruckers will generally run you over $10.00 for similar type of meal. Your basic single charburger will run you $2.95 for the burger only. If you get the meal it's $5.95. Not too bad for a sit down burger joint.
The bun is toasted like they do at In-N-Out, but it's different because it has sesame seeds on the bun, it's got a nice crunch to the bun and it's served all wrapped up in paper. The taste of the meat was okay. Nothing too fancy, but the burger itself was very juicy. The fries were okay, not greasy like some burger places and had a nice crispness to them. Would be nice if they seasoned them with seasoned salt or fry seasoning to give them a little more taste.
Restaurant was nice and spiffy and modern looking. Didn't have problems finding a seat. You can bring your vegetarian friends here as they do offer veggie burgers and salads and grilled sandwiches, sweet potato fries, plus they have shakes, malts, sundaes and cones. They have a kids menu too. I would come here again.Listed in: Burger Joints

Review from Amy Y.
When trying a new burger joint, I like ordering their most basic burger - if you can excite my tastebuds with a slab of meat, lettuce, tomato and onion... well, they did just that!!
YUMMMMMMMMERS!
Another thing I loved about this place was the chili bar - pepperocinis, jalepenos and the like; and the bottles of worcesteshire sauce, malt vinegar, etc. I'm Thai, and we like to season our own food, so this was a plus. I'd alternate bites of the burger with pops of jalepenos in my mouth..
DOUBLE YUMMMMMMMMMERS!!!
Fries were ok.. not greasy enough i think.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I ordered my burger "lettuce wrapped" aka protein style. Their lettuce was perfectly formed around my burger like pretty faux buns. In n Out's Protein Style is pretty weak and flimsy in comparison.
When I have my next burger craving, oh, I am all over this place!
Ps, I am so glad it's The Habit that opened up in my hood.. and NOT Five Guys! -
Review from Joe Q.
Delicious!!! I didn't really know what to expect when I went here, but the meat is really ordered to cook and very fresh. Maybe a tad better than In N Out considering the meat, but everything else that surrounds the burger makes it different.
What's with shredded lettuce? Why take the time to cut it up? Make it leafy so it doesn't fall out so easily.
Near the soda fountain are all types of hot sauces, jalapenos and chilis...a good convenience so I don't have to ask.
Choices are pretty wide. Mushroom burger, the double, hell...there's even sandwiches. What's awesome is the sweet potato fries. And not too shabby of prices, I believe the regular Charburger starts out at $2.95 and around $5 for fries and a drink.
Place is clean and organized. Will come back to maybe try a sandwich.Listed in: Hamburgers!

Amazing yum yummy burgers.
This place has great options. Well cooked burgers. Cheap prices for great quality. I'll venture to say this place is better than In-and-Out, which is in the same parking lot. The employees are very nice and friendly, with good customer service skills. Lots of options to put on your burger yourself like pepperoncinis, jalapenos, bottles of worcesteshire sauce, malt vinegar, etc. Super yummy onion rings too! -

Kinda like In N Out but not...Cheeburger Cheeburger used to be here until they went downhill and closed. Way better than Five Guys and maybe the same as Smash Burger IMO. I'd go back! I love Burgers.

Modern interior, open, plenty of seats , booths and outdoor patio seating . They have burgers, sandwiches , and salads. pretty simple menu, after a quick look I decided .
I went with the combo #2, Double Charburger, Fries and drink $8. The burger comes with mayonnaise, pickle, fresh tomato, lettuce and caramelized onions.
When you order they give you one of those pager/ buzzer things . So i sat and waited until my party buzzer went off.
Got my food headed over to condiment bar/ pepper bar. In the pepper bar they have jalapenos, pepperoncinis and wax peppers. The also have a bunch of bottled sauces, A1, Tabasco, etc.
Burger looked great, sizable , wrapped in a paper diaper ,drooling cheese. (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) I've seen this burger somewhere before? The fries piled up in there boat , looked like cafeteria fries.
Mouth to burger, tasty, good char taste, well done , good burger. The fries on the other hand are bloated, and mushy on the inside, some people like these types of fries but I like the slim crispy fries. ehhh
After eating this burger and just looking at it, It could be the retard brother of the IN and Out burger. Looks the same , tastes very close, . Maybe next time I will order it animal style and see what happens.
If you like burgers a place you should try .Listed in: Hamburglar

3.5 stars.
I had been really excited to try this place given the good reviews and the fact that on a Friday night there was a huge line out the door for people wanting food. So on a Wednesday night we headed back there.
I went for the burger with mushrooms and swiss cheese which tends to be something I regularly go for. Hubby went for the Charburger.
After they took our order they gave us a bleeper so we could sit down while our order was cooked.
The burger was pretty good, not the best I have had but I am now thinking that perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. The fries were too overcooked for my liking.
I liked the atmosphere and the setup and I liked that the menu was kept simple. I just wish I had been more impressed with the food itself as this is in a great location (for me). -
Review from Jim L.
The location of this Habit was home to another burger joint in the past however I feel as though The Habit may be here to stay.
Unlike the other popular burger joints that tend to give out happy meals or prizes, this place focuses more on what they do best.....put out a good burger.
They have their standard combo's which consist of #1 - a Charburger or #2 - a Double Charburger. Keeping things simple is obviously a plus for me. Cheese is extra for both but well worth whatever they end up charging you. All the burgers come with all the fixings (grilled onions, lettuce, tomato's, pickles and mayo). If that is not your style, you will need to tell them up front but most likely they will ask your liking as you order.
The burgers are large and more than a mouthful, even for me and the fries don't have that greasy feel to them.
While I would consider The Habit to be a fast food place, the vibe doesn't feel that way. You place your order and are given a pager to indicate when your meal is ready.
If burgers aren't you thing, they have other menu items to choose from such as chicken, tri-tip, albacore and salads so everyone should be able to leave here happy.
Service is quick and staff is friendly and this is a place that I would recommend as well as return to. -

Decent Burger joint. I think its a little pricey.
You can taste the char on the burgers if that's your thing.
Coffee shake is pretty good.
Good thing is, they move fast. There was a line out the door but it moves quick. -

The place with nice and modern. It was clean but it was a new restaurant in our area.
I tried out the burger and fries. It taste good but it really didn't stick out to me like I wanted to order from the place again. There was a distinct flavor that I would be craving for another habit burger and fries again. I did noticed they had other type of burgers so I will go back and try their other burgers. If I do want a burger and fries I plan on going to other locations. -

There was just nothing special about this place. The burger was ok, the fries were ok. It tastes like they use frozen patties and fries. I don't mind it for the fries but that made the patty really dry.
I would just rather eat at In n' Out.

I started eating at the habit when they were just in Santa Barbara and I always looked forward to it. Now that they have expanded South I am in a difficult spot. Were they so amazing that I will have to eat there often, or was it special because I didn't get to eat there often.
This location is very nice, clean and modern (should be it is new). Staff was nice, helpful and friendly (they better be because it is new). Burgers were just like I remember them and the fries were great.
At this point I am not going to go often so it stays special, and it isn't mind blowing good.
The true test of this location is if they can stay as good as they are after they've been open awhile.
Try it! -

I just went there with my future son in law. We wanted to try a lot of different items, so we each got a burger, and we split an albacore sandwich and a tri tip sandwich.
The burger - I ordered mine without mayo (I hate mayo) and substituted mustard. I liked it, especially the little "crack" of a well toasted bun when you bite into it. Excellent!
The albacore - I ordered it without tartar sauce (like mayo to me) and it was much better than I expected. I will definitely order it again.
The tri tip - This came with BBQ sauce that I didn't much care for. I should have run next door to BBQ Republic and gotten some of theirs. Next time I will get it with a different sauce, I am sure it will be much better.
Fries - Yummmmmm!
I would have preferred that they turn the music down a bit, a little too "foreground" for me.
There ya have it! -
Review from Marvin S.
I think this place was probably more of a 2.99999999999 star burger place. I loved the lay out of the restaurant and the general feel of the place as we ate there, but their burger wasn't anything really special to me. I really wanted to love this place more. I'm not opposed to coming here, but I definitely don't crave it. If you order fries, it's probably enough for two people. I ordered their mushroom swiss charburger on wheat with sweet potato fries. Pretty good, not great. Krystle got their bbq bacon charburger on sourdough, which she said that the bread was really good. We ordered a chocolate shake and the taste was good, but it was a little more milk than shake.
I won't lie and say I wasn't disappointed. The girl behind the counter was really nice and the prices weren't too bad. I definitely wouldn't pay $3 for their shakes though! -

We made a last second decision to eat here last week, and it was pretty good. The gf and I got here about a half hour before closing but it wasn't that busy or loud like some people have said. I got a mushroom swiss burger and she got a charburger with added guacamole and other stuff. I have to say that the burgers are pretty delicious. The patty has some mass to it and it was juicy but not overly greasy. The bun is soft and the amount of each topping was just right. The side bar with sauces and peppers was a nice touch. The fries are perfectly cooked, though I wish the portions were a bit larger. The onion rings are above average.
We also decided last minute to order some milkshakes....they are gooood. Super thick and creamy and not icy or watery at all.
Overall, it's a decent place to have a burger with a friend or two. I would say that it's a different kind of burger than the In-N-Out down the street just because there are more options (avocado, bacon, etc) to customize your burger, but probably on par with it in terms of taste. I will probably come back to try their other burgers. -

This place is a decent burger joint. The price is probably the kicker as the base burger is $3. Then you start adding the 'goodies' and build up into a $6 burger.
Of the food offerings in this part of the plaza (rubio's, bbq republic) I would say the habit is a winner and a good replacement for the cheeburger, cheeburger that used to be here. -
