Review from Renee C.
I have now been here three times, and it makes me wonder what I've been doing with my time that I've only been here 3 times.
First of all, great location in sleepy pretty Roberts Creek. Really just a hop (on to the ferry), skip (off of the ferry) and jump (to Robert's Creek) away.
Second, the food - love love love. This is one place that I have found outside of The Coup in Calgary that has just really good 'wholesome' fresh, healthy food. I am so in love with the Buddha and Ninja bowl, I would be willing to follow either a path to enlightenment or...lightening fast stealthy movements, to eat this every day. This past weekend their vegetarian special was roasted squash quesadillas with macadamia pesto. So very yum.
The waiting staff sometimes makes me laugh, but generally always a great experience. I've even heard a rumour that they grow a lot of their own vegetables that they put in their food - I could totally believe this.
So, go stealthily and with an enlightened heart and take the jaunt to check this place out. -

Best coffee on the coast, that i've found yet.
The cafe has very limited pastries and such, in that regard other options are better. However they have some great gluten free options for those so inclined, i highly suggest their macaroons.
the restaurant across the parking lot is amazing, top notch, 5 stars.
4 stars overall, would love to see more pastry options and more reasonable pricing on the pizza slices ;)
be sure to check out Elphinstones out back and up the stairs! -

As a gluten-free gal, I loved finding this quaint cafe on the Sunshine Coast during our honeymoon. We stopped by three times. Once we stayed and hung out in their 'backyard' patio. A very chill, casual patio with covered areas- it feels like you are in a friend's back garden. I enjoyed a macha green tea and devoured a decadent coconut bliss (a GF coconut ball (2"dia) topped with chocolate). Their coffee is Strait Coffee, a local roaster- and delicious with deep chocolate toasty notes. My husband loved their cinnamon buns, which sell out before the afternoon on most days! He rates them a 7/10, likely not perfect b/c they were iced (he prefers not) and had raisins...
I found it to be a bit pricey for a casual hippy cafe (a coconut bliss and cinnamon bun came to almost $6) but we were happy to support to local economy of Robert's Creek.
Their food options are plenty- pizza slices looked great... just not GF.
Good for: A quick bite, bringing a novel and enjoying lunch alone, take-away for a beach picnic, morning coffee... -

Nestled in the infamous Hippy-central of BC, The Gumboot Cafe is all organic-hippy greatness.
I haven't been here in about 5 years, and was surprised to see that they had expanded. They now have a bigger separate restaurant, a spa, and a bakery/cafe in their original location.
It was pretty busy but were seated promptly, servers very groovy and friendly. I had their chicken burrito that was filled with beans, rice, and other goodness. Sides were mango something sauce and sour cream as well as a fresh salad with mango dressing. It was Campbell's mmm mmm good good.
My table-mates had yam fries (best ever, done wedge style and roasted, not fried), Thai noodle salmon with wild smoked salmon, and the lamb burger. I tried a bit of everything and my eyes popped from each bite.
All you Vancouverites, visit The Sunshine Coast and stop by the Gumboot. Organic morsels never tasted so good.Listed in: Unique Places, Sunshine Coast Eats

I had a great Americano and an excellent piece of blueberry pie. The atmosphere is very relaxed and enjoyable, with a peaceful outdoor sitting area. Lots and lots of vegan and gluten-free cafe choices round out the snacks, and there are non-vegan items to please everyone as well.

yum! we loved our breakfast at the gumboot! arrived in town pretty late the night before, found the hostel (which we also loved), and had a great sunset on the jetty. before setting out the next AM, we stopped by to fill up on some really great food. and picked up some treats for further down the road while we were at it. loved roberts creek! and loved the gumboot.
