This place is pretty self-explanatory. Ranch 99 is a centralized area in the middle of desolate Kent that has all of the Asian stuff you could possibly want and also offering competitive prices compared to Uwajimaya. I love when I'm driving to Ranch 99, and all I'm thinking is that it looks like some place you would put an airport.

My family cannot have a proper meal without having bought SOMETHING from Ranch 99, whether they are making curry, broth, stir-fry, hot-pot, sushi, or fried chicken wings. Most ingredients were sourced from here, and I don't blame them. I can always rely on this place to have something that I cannot find else in the east side.

Something I would always watch is their produce, like all other supermarkets. I have seen wilted water spinach (one of my favorite vegetables) that are too old to be sold but were sold anyway. Make sure to grab the fresh, seasonal produce.

Basically, this place is a Costco for Asian people. You cannot leave without buying something that wasn't on your original grocery list.

And no, this place does not offer an "oriental experience," this is just plain wrong and oppressive terminology to describe Asian shops.

Before Great Wall, I had to drive to the ID to get my chinese veggies and other asian food necessities. I would go to Uwaji  but it is mainly Japanese and over-priced. You want to talk about parking? Try to find parking in the ID and it's not free. From what I remember you have to buy something in Uwaji to get free parking anyway so yes Great Wall can have parking challenges but it's free and just know when not to go and you will be fine. I don't go during the peak lunch hour especially on the weekends.  So 99 Ranch Grocery store is the anchor, all the other stores and restaurants come and go. Few are still in business since the opening like Imperial Restaurant, Pho and the Japanese restaurant.

99 Ranch Store has everything Asian that I need. Fresh seafood, bakery, bbq, veggies, instant noodles, all kinds of soy products, teas and lots of meat of all kinds and parts. Pricing is really good in comparison to ID and even the regular Safeway that I go to. Granted I still need to go to Safeway to get "western" groceries like cereal but that's ok.

Selection of restaurants is pretty decent.  The Korean restaurant rocks, love it esp if you want good tofu, spicy especially. V Garden is new for me and love their crispy seafood noodles. Have to go back to try some of their other dishes. Japanese restaurant is good too when they first opened but haven't been there in awhile. Like Imperial for their dimsum. Pho is tasty and quick.

The other stores around there are fun to browse in, from the store that sells Hello Kitty to the store that sells traditional chinese clothes.

oh there is a Bruce Lee museum which is new. I haven't been able to go visit. Everytime I go to the mall, it's closed.

My main target of my visits is really 99 Ranch Store. I was and still am very happy Great Wall is here in Renton/Kent.

Oh, I doubt this is even a small percentage as impressive as the real thing, but for Seattle, it ain't too bad.

I used to love the teahouse and Zakka here, but they closed. Helpful, right?

I do like the Ranch 99, almost an entire cold aisle of tofu alone. More sauces than you can shake a stick at.

I like the random mall kiosks, I like the dance dance revolution game that I can watch the AWESOMELY TALENTED kids play.

I like the makeup/San Rio store.

I like the super cheap phone accessories.

Basically, I just like stuff and they have stuff.

"The Great Wall" is a perfect name for this place because it's straight out Asian!  I frequently head to this place to shop at the Ranch 99 market for exotic fruits and groceries, or just to get some goodies from the bakery.  I also shop at Valerio's, the Filipino bakery near the right side entrance.  They have a ton of delicious items to choose from.

I'm a big fan of Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi sandwiches), and the Kim Van Deli is where I usually get my fix for a good bbq pork lunch/dinner.  They cost about $2.75 and can rival those from Chinatown.  Usually two of them disappear pretty fast around me.
I also love to head over to the bubble tea place right across the hall.  They make a tasty honeydew milk tea.

The Great Wall Shopping Mall isn't that big, so don't expect a ton of stores.  It's more of a food mall really.  The majority of the patrons are there to shop at Ranch 99 or eat at the Imperial Garden restaurant for delicious dim sum.  Basically, if you like/love Asian food, then head on over.

The Great Wall is a convenient location that I go to often for my Asian needs.  Here is a sample list of stores you will find:

Ranch 99:  Good sized supermarket that has nearly everything you need for that Oriental experience.  See my super short Ranch 99 review for that at: http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Lotus Hair Salon:  young Asian ladies (with tight clothes) ready to trim your hair.  I would not try to get the pedicure there though as they aren't very good at that nor do they do it very often it looks like.  I prefer Suncoast next complex over.  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Jang Soo Tofu:  For the Korean food lover in you.  Kalbi ribs and the spicy seafood soup are awesome here.  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Champion Gourmet Services:  Chinese specialty snacks, foods and boba smoothies.  I love the spicy red beef jerky!
    http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Hue Ky Mi Gia: THE noodles specialist!  Newly opened as of 5/28/2011:  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

New Massage place:  just opened up.  Free one minute massage to try before you buy.

Gift and video stores:  Cheapy knick knacks, asian video rentals, karaoke discs and the like.  There are kiosks also that sell cell phones and other miscellaneous services.

Pho To Chau:  Good Pho.  I like their beef stew pho.  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Recent Phillipino food:  haven't been here yet but there is a buffet style lunch there?

    Regal Financial Bank: CLOSED....

Imperial Seafood:  Weekend dim sum is decent here.  They recently did a minor remodel.  I like the congee'.  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Kim Van Deli:  Oh yes, this is one of my favorites in the Great Wall.  Sandwiches are good, Humbaos, Bobas and of course the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Sugar Cane drink!!  Cash only now.
    http://www.yelp.com/bi...

CLOSED Custom toilet seat shop:  If you want a heated toilet seat, or a seat that will spray water up your fanny after you are done...there is a place that sells that thing exclusively here.  If anyone actually uses this, please send me a message as I am curious....

Froyo and Boba:  a small frozen yogurt place here but business is slow?

Cafe Taipan:  An extension of Imperial Garden (same kitchen and owners).  They recently revised their specials and the quality of their offerings have gone down! http://www.yelp.com/bi...

V GARDEN!!! :  The newly addition to Great Wall and it is about time!  V Garden, for those of you that aren't familar they suffered a fire at their old location in Chinatown by the Sounder Station.  They recently moved over to this area and is a gem to the Kent area.  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Next Cellectoin:  Mobile phones and accessories.

As you can see, a one stop shop.  If you need to, the next complex has Szechuan First (good!) http://www.yelp.com/bi..., Crawfish Grill http://www.yelp.com/bi..., and Suncoast Hair Salon ..... One complaint I do have is during their peak hours, the lot can be quite full on the weekends.  Luckily, I usually only go early on weekends or later after work.

Good, clean and organized Ranch 99. Already a plus.

Pho, noodles, bahn mi sandwiches, and assorted Asian knickknacks and the like.

There's nothing like it in St. Louis (I'm so deprived), so I was just thrilled to walk around and take in the Asianness.

The parking lot looks tiny compared to what I would assume weekend crowds would be. Therefore, try to avoid this place on weekends.

Come here for your QUICK STOP shop at Ranch99 for all your asian food goodness. The baby bak-choy is always fresh, and who doesn't love a grab-n-go lunch there for a good price?

Not to mention they have a pho restaurant & filipino restaurant. Haven't been to the Filipino one yet, but from what I've heard, it's pretty gosh darn good. If you're craving a vietnamese sandwich, they have a little shop (unsure of the name) on the same side, and awesome bubble tea right across from it ( CASH ONLY HERE! ).

So go ahead and stop by, pop in a quarter on one of their kiddie rides and have a go at the place.

Just don't use the bathroom....... especially if your intent is to go into the woman's one..........OH! and be PREPARED to have a SHOW DOWN when it comes to parking. FIGHTO FIGHTO FIGHTO!!!!!!

I wish I could simultaneously give this place both 1 and 5 stars.  It's an Asian shopping center and they decided to name it "The Great Wall Shopping Mall", plus there's some miscellaneous dragon themed decor.  Stereotypes and setting back race relations = awesomeness.  Hey at least they didn't accent it with mini Buddhas, or did they?  I forget.

It's got a 99 Ranch, an herb spot, a pho place and a few other vendors.  But the best and worst part is clearly the name.  The Great Wall Shopping Mall, so wrong, yet so right.

A Unique Plethora of Stores. From Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Filipino, Taiwanese, and many more. A Pan-Asian experience without flying out of Sea-Tac.

The Shopping experience has slight  feel of Uwajimaya but more subdivided.
There are quite a few good restaurants like:
    Bangkok Caf
    Boba Express
    Caf Taipan
    Dax Express
    Eddokko Japanese Restaurant
    Hana Restaurant
Imperial Garden Seafood & Dim Sum
    Mai's Deli
    Mak's Juice & Dessert
    Mi So 1
    Pho To Chau Vietnamese

The highlight of the Great Wall is The 99 Ranch Market which is a Supermarket of various Asian goods, from International Groceries, Fresh Produce, Select Meats, Live Seafood, Free Fish Frying Services, Bakery items Baked Daily,Chinese Food Express,Taiwanese Cuisine and Hong Kong style B.B.Q. and more...!!

Parking can be an issue on weekends so you might have to be a parking-stalker!!

Come to the Great Wall Shopping Mall and enjoy the Pan-Asian Groove with resonable prices. This place sure does satisfy some of my cravings!

After walking out of The Great Wall Mall I felt like I had just been on a world wind cheap ass tour of the China, Vietnam, Philippine, Korea, Japan and Thailand.  I think I can now say I've been to the Forbidden City, that is kind of what it looks like from the outside.

They have a little bit of everything Asian you could ever want.  Knock off designer bags, check. Pan De Sol, check.  Anime DVD's, check.  Banh Mi, check.  Lucky bamboo, check.  Dishware, check.  Pho, check.  Hello Kitty stuff, check.  Facial waxing, check.  Candied fish, check.

See they have everything you might ever need if you ever wanted to fool your friends into thinking you'd been on a trip to the Orient.

I always get a little sad walking into this place. You know know that in a matter of days any number of these stores is going to close in a couple of days.

I did find a small shop that sold Asian candy by the quarter pound. They had some sort of candied fish which looked a little too advanced for me.

An exceptional place to hang out with friends and family alike......This mall is very ethnic...after doing the rounds you'll notice that most of the businesses are mostly Asian... So in short you can have a tour of the South East in one roof ...and have a taste of  their cuisines as well...isn't that cool... There is a Japanese,Filipino, Chinese, Thai, Korean,Vietnamese, and Taiwanese...

Aside from the restaurants, there's a Filipino bakery that served not only breads but some savory mouth filling Filipino delicacies....there is one particular bread ..looks like a log with pineapple and cream cheese filling....Delicious..i am thinking of calling my friend if he can send me some via priority mail....seriously this bread is just so good, my daughter Camille can't stoptalking about it and literally asking me to  send for it via the post Office.

The supermarket located at the back offers everything you can ask for...cooked food to go..bakery..a sit down restaurant while food shopping, pharmacy, utencils, chocolates all kinds of teas..this of course aside fromthe usual meat, seaffods , fruits and vegetables.
What more can you ask.  There arealso a lot of little rides for the kiddies...

With a huge parking lot for shoppers this mall has surely a lot to offer...

    Overall: Not overly impressive

The Great Wall Mall was a disappointment, I was expecting my eyes to light up with excitement - but sadly they didn't.

It was relatively empty on a Tuesday morning with loads of free parking spaces. The mall has numerous eateries, 99 Ranch Market, 2 video/DVD stores and a store that sells Sanrio stuff - but in general, it didn't amount to much.

Needless to say that I won't be making the trip to Kent to see this again... maybe I've been spoilt in the past? But really, this place was a serious disappointment.

I'm with Andrea D. in that I only really go here for groceries (Ranch 99) and the knock off hand bags that are always on sale....well, that and there's a little bamboo shop that sells bamboo for cheap, cheap, cheap...which is only a notch down from free, free, free!

PLUS!  This place is THE place to go if you are cooking ANY Asian style food and need some random (not common), cooking item.  I've had to come here numerous times for some ingrediants that neither your mainstream stores or even the little mom and pop places carry.  On top of that, the people working there are SOOOO helpful.  They walk you straight to what you are looking for if you cannot find it and with a smile at that!

The parking lot does get full and hectic so if you can make it, try coming earlier in the day...before 4pm on weekdays and on Sat.'s either forget about it or pack some patience.

So leaving Ikea, I see this map to "the Great Wall", so we hop in the car and decide to check it out.  Approching this place is pretty awesome... it looks like it should have archers on the roof.  However, we were quickly shocked at the absolutely packed parking situation (yes it was Sunday and there is a grocery store).  I highly suggest parking in the back and avoiding the swooping car bonanza.

The grocery store is amazingly well priced.  There are a number of cute little resturants with lunch specials and an acrade composed of games that were definately good back in the day.  Moreover, there are bakeries, and a place that sells Boba tea... of course you can look forward to those reviews later...

There are also a number of places to buy foreign DVDs.  You will find yourself watching the sample show on a plasma screen along with other passers-by.  If international cinema isn't you're deal how about buying a high end Japanese toilet complete with sounds and buttons.  Now that is something you can't get at Westlake.

But what really should be said about the Great Wall is that it is not like other places, sure you can find all the goods here in other locations but the atmosphere is a bit like taking a tiny vacation.

    YES YES YES!!

My favorite part about this place is the shop, Champion.  It is a little store located inside the mall, and they sell Taiwanese products.

I love the bao zi (meat buns), bah wan (sweet potato/rice flour dumping filled with meat, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms, then topped with garlic sauce), pickled vegetables, pudding milk tea, wah guei (rice flour mixture in a bowl), and bentos!

The best part about the the bao zi (meat buns) is that they look homemade, and not formed by machines.  They are not bleach white, and not perfect circles.  The filling is meat or meat/veggie.  I've never tried the just meat buns, always the meat/veggie.  Filling is always perfectly spiced, juicy, and there is plenty of it! They are pretty big, so one will be able to fill you up, no problem!

Bah wan (sweet potato/rice flour dumpling) consists of an outer shell that is chewy, a little sticky, and tender.  The inside is filled with pieces of pork, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms.  The garlic sauce that comes in a container on the side is garlicy, sweet, and savory.  Yum!  Put one in a bowl, top with sauce, then microwave, and you're good to go!

Pickled vegetables are an important part of Taiwan cuisine.  They are eaten with congee, stewed pork over rice, given in bento boxes, and found in gua bao.  I love pickled vegetables because they're salty, sour, and crunchy.  The pickled vegetables here are absolutely amazing!

Pudding milk tea was only introduced to me recently, I had no idea it even existed till a couple years back.  The pudding is a generous portion in the drink.  The tea is nice and sweet, but definitely not over board.  I've had the lychee milk tea here before too, also a good choice!

Wah guei is basically the outer part of a bah wan (sweet potato/rice flour dumpling) put in a bowl, and little meat and mushrooms are added.  It is topped with a brown sauce, and a great addition to any meal!  Or it could be a meal itself!

Bento boxes here come with either pork cutlets or chicken.  I've never tried the chicken, but the pork cutlets are excellent.  The bento boxes come with rice, pickled vegetables (I always ask for extra!), a tea egg, and some bok choy or Chinese broccoli.  It's a lot of food, so share with a friend or two!

Besides Champion, I also like to grocery shop here with my mother.  They have a lot of fresh fruit, vegetables, snacks, meats, seafood, drinks, and a bakery in the back.  There is also frozen products, a food court (similar to Panda Express), roasted duck, and desserts!  The fruit selection here looked especially decent, and I bought some mochi ice cream as well, yum!  Grass jelly drinks, vegetables, ground pork, and pork sung were also items that I purchased.  The place is huge, and you'll be able to find almost anything.

There are other restaurants in the mall, including Taipan, a pho place, and another unknown cuisine restaurant.  I've never tried them out, but it always smells heavenly when you enter the automatic door of the mall.

I'll be coming back for more produce, snacks, and CHAMPION!

Came here excited considering I was really looking forward to cooking Thai food.

First glance of the fruits and vegetables seem like a bargin and everything looked fresh and yummy. That is where my excitement ends. Sad,

It was truly an eye opening experience. Who knew there was so many parts of any meat animal you could eat. Cow Uterus....need I say more.

This experience was disappointing for two reasons.

    1. They didn't have peanut sauce. Very disappointed. We had to just get some peanut sauce dressing for our fresh roles (which by the way were amazing)

    2. The overwhelming smell of fish was just to much. It seemed very unclean and I almost threw up.

I would shop here again but stay to the front of the store where the stench is not so bad.

I wish I could find easy parking....

It's best to shop here on the weekdays. Usually the only time I come now is during the night time before the mall is about to close. Weekends are always jammed pack and it's too difficult to get around the small lot to find and wait for parking. Of course everyone is super slow to back out as well, even Costco is faster than this...

Despise the downside of the parking lot, the shopping center is fairly large. Theres a wide range of things inside as a couple Chinese restaurants, Vietnamese restaurants, Filipino restaurant, bubble tea, bakery, sanrio, etc and of course the Ranch 99 grocery store. There's a few stores that are often going out of business, I'm not sure why, but I suppose the business may not suit the market here.

It's nice if you got time to stop in. I've been to better shopping centers in So Cal though...

i have been to both the great wall and uwajimaya many times, and i prefer the great wall. i even find it worth the half hour-long drive to kent from seattle. no, it's not the most uplifting of places to be. the mall itself is a bit run down. half of the stores haven't been open when i have gone, but it's a great destination if you're a foodie.

the grocery store itself is fantastic. i have been in there for literal hours. their seafood section is exceptional and completely kicks uwajimaya's ass. my boyfriend bought really beautiful yellowfin tuna for around $6/lb. the fishmongers are happy to help you out with your fish, whether it be dead or alive. this great wall has been the only place i have seen with fresh uni. they also have fresh shellfish meats, etc. in their pre-weighed section, along with salads and an impressive variety of roe. their meats are also pretty interesting to tour through. the prices are excellent, and it's all very fresh. if you want to eat any -- and i mean any -- part of a pig, look in their pork section. the amount of pork they have available makes you want to give someone a hug.

another reason i love their market is because you can buy a shrubbery of basil for $1.50. i feel scandalous when i buy it almost. in the laws of western grocery stores, that isn't right at all.

they have a very wide selection of... everything. they have everything from different sesame oils to kraft dressing. the only thing i haven't found is kewpie mayo, but i didn't ask. this store is the epitome of "oh, i didn't know i wanted this so badly until now." for example, i was shopping for steamers and stumbled upon the most epic vegetable knife. either make a list, bring someone with you to talk you out of things like epic vegetable knives, or accept the fact that you will leave with far more than you came in for.

the other stores in the mall are nice. there's a store that sells hamtaro, totoro, hello kitty, etc. things, a dvd store, the store to buy your lucky bamboo and waving kitty... it's all covered. but i would advise people to come hungry, because they have great places to grab a bite. i love the banh mi shop which also sells fresh rolls and boba teas. i get really excited just thinking about it.

if you're into one-stop shopping, this is good. no, their produce isn't the greatest quality. no, it's not everyone's prime shopping destination. but they have a lot of variety, a lot of really great things, and i appreciate the great wall very much.

Asian grocery shopping, ya'll. i don't love the place, but i like it to an extent. a mixture of everything- from korean to thai, but mostly chinese products. it's cool for sales items on Gyozas or Milkis soda or something. Noodles galore. the other shops inside are cool- the bootleg Gucci, Louis Vuitton bags can be found there. the Banh Mi Sandwiches sold there are pretty decent. the Pho isn't too bad, either.

I go here for the Ranch 99 because it's closer than Uwajimaya, and every once in a while when I want dim sum at Imperial Garden Seafood on a Saturday morning - just be sure to arrive somewhat earlier to beat the parkingmania, but approximately after they start their congee cart (if you like congee). The seafood counters at Ranch 99 here seem to be very popular, although I have no opinion on the matter myself. They also have gigantic daikon when it's in season. I don't really care much for the Boba Express, myself, although the pho place is pretty good.

I was going to write about Asians and the parking but decided against it for I'm almost cretin it will be flagged. Once you make it inside it's your average "international" shopping mall setup. It's really built around the supermarket and shopping inside is challenging during peak hours. Grab a basket, not a cart.

My Favorite place to grocery shop! I love all the little shops and delis! Gotta say the Viet sandwich shop is bomb I always get a combo and iced coffee!  I think that I have been to every shop in the mall but that is my favorite place to eat. The grocery store is awesome too it has everything I need to buy in one spot and they are not over priced! I would say if you are in the area stop by and check it out!

This little mall is GREAT if you don't want to drive into downtown to Uwajimaya. Fantastic little asian marketplace with tons of fresh fish and produce. Some great little restaurants in the same location, as well.

I really enjoy great wall. It's a great place and all of the restaurants and stores are amazing. My family comes here quite often and we're usually always pleased. There is such a variety here and we love trying the new stores that come and go.

The only complaints that i have is the parking (i think that bothers everyone) and the store champions...

I'm sad to put down champions and maybe i don't really have to and am choosing to anyway. I've been going to champions for bubble tea for as long as it has been opened. My whole family thought it was THE best bubble tea place EVER. I was loyal to this place and recommended it to everyone. When i tried bubble tea elsewhere i'd compare it to champions, and truly champions was the greatest... at least until a few years ago. I began to become disappointed when i'd go there. Not every time, but sometimes it'd be watery or bitter or kind of rotten, but i never complained because it wasn't unbearable and it was more hit or miss. Once again, i was loyal. I didn't want to believe it was becoming a disappointment... that is until today. Today was the last straw. I came in and ordered 4 drinks. 3 of the 4 were ok, but one was undrinkable... it wasn't even tolerable. I didn't want trouble or a refund. I went back in just wanting to let them know i can't drink it at all. Reminder it's just 1 drink out of the 4 i bought, and it was by far the worst customer service ever.

They said "i drink it all the time, i tastes fine." And "we make it the same way! It's fresh mango! See!" He showed us a bag of frozen mango and made a new drink throwing his stuff everywhere being really pissy and rude. I just didn't want them to make this drink for someone else that's going to be rude to tell. I'd rather tell them nicely and maybe they'll make it differently maybe the won't but at least the were told about it. I wasn't trying to be mean and i definately wasn't expecting the response that i got.

    ... i won't be going again :(

The name of this place sort of is misleading... you would think this is one of those mega Asian shopping centers you would find in Richmond, BC or down south in Westminster, CA. or even Houston, TX... its more of a regional Asian shopping center - with a 99 ranch out back... a few Vietnamese and Filipino places... i think there's a sushi place... a Taiwanese place... a few places for boba tea... and a dim sum place. you can check out this place in less than hour so its not a whole day event.

Me and my wife got dragged in here recently, and while I appreciated/liked the Asian cultural theme, it's not what I expected.  Mostly every one there was unfriendly.  My wife couldn't get out of there fast enough.  It gave me bad memories of ghetto parts of Korea while I was stationed there.

my mom too me here a couple times when i was younger as a curiosity/novelty kind of place (after all, how often do white people usually see products such as pig uterus?).  then when i was on my own and living and in tacoma and cooking asian food my partner and i took occasional shopping trips up here.  this mall has been somewhat formative on my life experience.  being a white person, i'm often surrounded by white people and before this place only had one memory of being one of the only white people in a room (a MLK memorial church on MLK day in Renton when I was younger).  this was the second place.  when you grow up seeing other white people in daily life, in the media, in authority positions, etc whiteness becomes "normal" or "invisible" and you tend not to notice when you're surrounded by white people.  whereas people of color are generally always aware of being one of the only people (hence being called a "minority") and are aware of most people on tv, in magazines, in positions of authority, etc being white and non-representative of them.  at the great wall mall i was a minority and at first it was slightly uncomfortable and strange but an important experience.

anyway, the 99 ranch market is huge and has almost everything.  nice bakery, desserts, canned fruit, fresh fruit, boxed foods, sweets, anything you'd want. they have a great variety of cuisines represented in their products, including some good vegetarian products.  and a whole wall of cheap instant noodles!

also in the great wall mall i had my first bubble tea and i went to a good thai restaurant that had durian sticky rice (the first time i've seen that), which was delicious.  there's a nice candy store.  overall it has a good variety of stores, cuisines, and cultures represented and it was an important place for me to grow up with.

What kind of place is this?  A false security camera?  I can assure you that their parking sucks and the people who go there.  uhhhhh!  Rude and violent.
