One of my favorite dining locations anywhere. Great entrees and appetizers. Service makes you feel special. Dining on the patio begs an extra amount of time to just relax. Have not had a bad meal at the Granary and the martinis are exceptional.

Not trying to be a hater but this place is not that great. Crap services, high prices. Our server told us that their bartender sucked and she was right. Also, the food wasn't that great. A few things off the bar menu were good but the Tuna Tartare was poorly executed, the "gnocchi" was CRAP and not gnocchi at all. And the menu isn't seasonal so if you order a Tomato Basil salad in the winter you are getting crappy tomatoes and disgusting basil. If you can't give me good product, don't put it on your menu and don't charge me out the ass for it. I won't be going back.

Highest grade 2" ribeye + 28 day age + 1700 degree grill = perfection!! (the first is factorial, the second is exclamation)
I ordered med rare, my brother in law had rare and both were spot on AND had a wonderful sear which is becoming a lost art even at a steakhouse.
-Cocktails: pretty good
-Choose starches over veggies
-coconut shrimp over calamari
-Great service -

Fun fun place to go. Really nice quality food, however it is a bit pricey. Nice place to relax with friends for a good meal.

Lovely dining room, nice bar, great patio... so so food. Have drinks and an appetizer then eat elsewhere. Just my opinion.

With the hot summer, we love a great outdoor patio. The Granary offers a nice atmosphere, good summer food and great drinks. They have a large drink menu, (although I like a wheat beer) they have a full appetizer menu as well as very nice dinner selection. We have tried their Shrimp/Chichen Nachos, very yummy as well as their quesadilla. They are also open for the lunch crowd and the ceaser salad is pretty good too!

I hit Granary and Walkers within 3 days of each other, so I can break it down for you:
Service: Granary
Decor: Walker's
Bar: Walker's
The food category is all important, and so deserves more consideration.
First course: The Granary's braked brie appetizer was tastier than either my bacon wrapped scallop or my friend's seafood cocktail at Walkers.
Second Course: The Granary's blue cheese souffle destroyed Walker's House Salad. The quality of Walker's greens was actually not much better than what I would expect at a place like cheesecake factory, and I was pretty scandalized by the fact that there was exactly ONE blue cheese crumble in the salad. In contrast, the Granary's greens were excellent, and the souffle itself was ample. I think the pastry chef at the granary was having some trouble tonight though, as our fresh bread, the souffle, AND the carmelized sugar layer of my dessert were all overdone.
Entree: Walker's won the entree hands down. One of my dining partners had the seafood special at both restaurants, and while the granary salmon dish was well prepared, it was blandly topped with a nondescript drizzle of cream sauce, in contrast to the goat cheese sauce on the seafood special at Walker's, which was fantastic. My own entree at the Granary was surprising, as I had enjoyed it there before but was SHOCKED at the hickory farms "andouille" sausage in my pasta. Another of my dining partners was unable to eat her scallop and shrimp dish, and my final dining partner's beef short ribs were black.
Dessert: Walker's easily won the dessert course as well. As I mentioned earlier, the pastry chef at the granary must have been hungover or something, because the carmelized sugar on our blueberry dessert was a disaster. It was almost black (in fact there was a black spot on my souffle, as well.) It was inedible.
Overall, if I had to recommend one or the other, I would probably recommend Walker's to friends my age but the granary to people taking out their parents. The granary's menu is less imaginative than Walker's, and for all that not always executed better. It was an enjoyable dining experience though, and certainly among the top in Billings (especially if the pastry chef pulls his act together), but despite my sense that Walker's is slipping a little, I don't think its best restaurant crown is at present in any danger.
