I went in one day to inquire about orthotics for my feet and the sales associate helped explain why I needed orthodics and how it could help me.

So he measured my feet, got me to walk over an imprinting tool. He went to the back room and.... BAM! Here are your orthotics!!! I was very skeptical about this because well, he just pulled a pair from his back closet and said they were perfect for me. I asked a few questions and he continued to convince me that these are "measured and customized" to suit my feet. Hey, what do I know right? He's the expert.

My work covers customized orthotics under the extended medical plan so I sent in my paperwork. A week later, I received a notice asking for some more specific information....

    - were the orthotics made for the patient?
    - provide a lab bill containing a description of the process used to create them, including casting technique and raw materials used
    - a copy of patient assessment chart
    - a copy of the gait analysis
    - copy of the biomechanical examination used to fabricate the orthotics

So I went back to Good Feet with these details.... and came out with a letter that explained that a biomechanical method was used (not what the method was, just that it was used), that most of the orthotics are injected molded and manufactured of the highest quality polymers..... and a sales pitch. Didn't give me what I needed and didn't answer the questions. But unfortunately, this is all they could give me.

I sent in the new information and low and behold, I got a letter back explaining that this product does not meet the criteria required for customized orthotics. As you can image, I'm pretty frustrated at this point. I'm out just under $300... and I have these orthotics that are 'PRE-customized' to my feet. Does that even make any sense?

Overall, my experience was very negative. Maybe these orthotics are beneficial... maybe they're not - I can't tell, which probably isn't a good sign.

For the same price, I would suggest going to a chiropractor or some professional office that will take customized measurements of your feet, and have orthotics created and molded specifically for you. And by the way, this process takes more than 2 minutes. I know, shocking.
