This place is so cute & am very glad I discovered it while visiting the area. Their veggie hash was so damn tasty, I wish there would have been more. I also got the blueberry pancake as well which you could tell was like way healthy. My boyfriend got a standard breakfast which he thought was good. The only thing they could do better on is the service. I mean laid back I can understand, but some of us are hungry! Check it out though, looking at their dinner menu I started salivating.

I and a friend showed up last Tuesday morning , there were  two table that had people occupying them and we waited for EVERYTHING ...coffee , Our order to be taken and then when that was done (Coffee still empty !!) One of the servers decides that talking to her friend on the restaurant phone was appropriate as she walked thru the restaurant and all could hear her side of the conversation ,She walks by our and the other two tables and ignores all of us then hangs up the phone and then proceeds to the "prep area" and starts laughing  and talking to the other server (who was sitting down ) The food was good but the service was HORRIBLE and I will never go there again !

My wife and I stopped in here recently after a few friends raved about the place to us.  I had heard about it before but just never seem to find myself in this part of Portland come breakfast time.  Needless to say we woke up one morning and decided to give it a whirl.  I debated giving this 4 stars because in some ways it is worthy, but there were a few rough spots that combined with the high expectations I had going in left me a little disappointed.  I ordered an omelet which was stuffed with spinach and mushroom, but was a bit burnt.  It still tasted great, but burning eggs is a no no for me.  The toast was pretty good, but had it not been for the fantastic jam provided to accompany it I may have been less enthused.  My wife ordered the egg sandwich which is something we had heard good things about, and I'm told it did not disappoint.  Coffee was also good which I feel is crucial if you're going to call yourself a breakfast spot.

They make a mean vegan hash and blueberry pancakes. I may be small, but I can eat most people under the table. With that in mind, I'd appreciate a larger portion when I order a side of hash. One odd thing I've noticed is the pancakes vary. Sometimes they are your standard American fluffy cakes, while other times they are heavy on cornmeal. Either way they are tasty. It's just that I'd like to know what to expect because sometimes I feel like fluffy cakes while other times I prefer the more substantial corny version. Regardless, I love that they are willing to veganize the hash and pancakes. I wish they offered loose green tea.

I really like the food here. It is the only place in town, that I am aware of that you can get a vegan blueberry pancake with REAL maple syrup and they have a fantastic veggie hash. Although, I have to say I wish the portions on the latter were a little bigger. I always get it without the normally added egg and cheese and ask for extra hash, but never get it... so I leave hungry. Their tofu scramble is  NOT good - kinda slimy, not very flavorful. I hear that most of their other egg-based dishes are good. Probably my biggest qualm is the service. Even when it is not super busy, it is really rare to actually get the glass of water or bottle of hot sauce you request on the first try - you usually have to ask twice. If there were more veg breakfast / brunch options in town, I would likely move on from this place, but alas...

Super-cheap cafe just on the outskirts of Portland's Old Port.  Apparently this place "transforms" into another restaurant for dinner called Pepperclub.  I was a little surprised to see that they had only one (insanely cute) guy working there.  He seemed a little stressed out and I had to keep asking for everything over and over, but he gave me the bedroom eyes and put me at ease.  I got the french toast which was good, but really, really thick.  It was 3 inches thick.  The middle of the toast was not toast - it was bread.  But, I doused it in syrup (they make their own raspberry syrup) and everything was fine.  Definitely reccommend this place to anyone with a tight wallet and a lot of extra time to kill.

Good breakfast place with consistency issues.  I really like the veggie hash with tempeh.  Sometimes the cooking quality dips a bit, though, and as The C mentioned, the services is not always great.  In fact, the last three time I've been there they've forgotten something in the order.
