So that cheap and delicious pita concoction I was talking about? It's called Manouch Zataar and it's phenomenal. I visited today to pick up six that I chopped up for an office potluck. It was enjoyed by all and only cost me $15 even!

When I see bakery I usually skip it. I have never been a baked good fan, my family sold bread and other baked good at markets and while I love making bread and other baked goods, I seldom ever eat them.
But upon seeing the reviews on here I set my mind to stop in the next time I was in Bedford. I was surprised when I walked in at the wide variety of items that they had. Besides breads, pitas, various French and Middle Eastern desserts, fatayer, as well as jars of pickles, spreads, etc.
I couldn't resist the cream puffs, so got one of those. One of my favourite things is cream, it is one of the few sweets I just love, so cream puffs are next to perfect for me, especially when they are not covered in chocolate. These were just the pastry filled with cream with powered sugar on top. Perfect little treat, well worth stopping in for.
I wanted to try the manouche zataar or ma'noosh b'zataar or whatever they are called. They were out of the one made with cheese and I should have just gone with the traditional one with herbs, but my carnivore took over and I got the one with beef. The flat-bread was delicious, the meat filling left me a little wanting. Can't wait to go back and try one of the other kinds, I am sort of dreaming of how the cheese filled one would taste.
I also picked up a couple fatayer, one with cheese and the other with chicken. I loved them, the dough was similar to soft pretzel dough and the filling in both was delicious.
The cream puff, two fatayer and ma'noosh cost less then $10. Very good value. You get an even better deal if you buy in larger quantities. I would certainly recommend all three items I tried and imagine the rest of their items are equally great. Give it a try!Listed in: With a Little Help From My…

The Golden Bakery is located along the Bedford Hwy. It is sort of tucked in, so easy to drive by. However, you will not want to do so, because it is worth watching for.
You walk in to this magnificent display case of mouthwatering pastries.
This place is bigger than it looks. There are wonderful sections of speciality items.
They actually specialize in pita bread, which I did not know.
They do catering,wedding cakes, birthday cakes, pastries, and of course fabulous breads. They will also cater events for you.
Out the door I went with some pita bread and a loaf of fresh baked french loaf for supper.
The store is wonderful and staff is equally as nice.
