When I lived in PG, I spent almost every Saturday night at the Generator. It was one of the only other options besides The Cadillac country bar, and seeing that I wasn't into two-stepping (yet) I flowed with the flocks to "The Genny" as we affectionately called this fine drinking establishment. It was dark, crowded, and multi-leveled, so you could sit down around the bar, behind it on a raised platform up against the wall, dance on the raised floor (and try not to fall off if it was overcrowded and the D.J. was playing "Jump, Jump,") or you could take a tour upstairs to smoke in the semi-enclosed room and hang over the railing to scope out babes below. I think I spent more time touring this place than staying in one spot. So, come to think of it, I wonder how great it really was. I remember long, painful line-ups to get in at 11:30 p.m. when things got a little dull at another pub and someone suggested The Genny. Minus 40 was only a mild deterrent when boredom struck. I've stood out in the cold waiting to get into The Genny, in unsubstantial clothing, more times than I care to admit. Ah, what young people in a small town will do to drink on a Saturday night.
