Love Love Love The Foundation Room. The Moroccan themed decor and the good music and drinks equals a good time every week.
I mainly go on Wednesday nights for DJ Frances Jaye of http://neosoulcafe.com and DJ M Knight for a mix of Neo Soul & Hip Hop. It's a diverse crowd that brings out people that just come for a good time and want to dance. -

I've never been to House of Blues and had not heard of the Foundation Room until my date invited me to his friend's going away party that was being held there. Apparently it's a private event space where your name has to be on a list to be able to get in. That seemed a bit silly to me but whatever. The hostess was very obliging and we didn't have a problem getting in.
The FR itself was very cool. All the hallways that lead up to its entrance made me feel like I was a genie in a bottle! The Moroccan theme was very beautiful. There was an up-in-coming country singer (Imag I think) who was the live entertainment on stage. It was a very small venue and the intimate setting was so cool. The only gripe i have is they needed to blast the AC on high cuz it felt quite warm in there even though it wasnt crammed with people. I would love to come back to listen to more live music. I don't drink alcohol so I can't vouch for the bar. Valet was fast and friendly. Overall a very cool place to hang out! -

This has to be the most awesomely designed club in town. From the moment you get off of the elevator the smell of incense, the groovy fabric on the walls and the Indian artifacts will make you feel like you're in a funky palace somewhere outside of Mumbai.
It is members only most nights, but there are private parties as well. Membership is well worth the fees. The staff always treats me like a VIP and Michael, the concierge, is incredible. One call and he will take care of anything you need. Add to that the over-the-top service from Jason, Mo, Merrill and everyone else at the FR. -

Cool spot that is within walking distance of where I live.
Saw Buddy Guy there when he played last and recently went to a birthday party there. Very Indian-- Acid Rock them in the actual bar/lounge, and a great view of the stage for shows.
Great venue for shows or private parties. Tons of cool rooms to explore upstairs too. Wading through Dbags is a glaring black eye here, just block them out and move on.
(Buddy Guy rocks too, obviously). -

I don't know, I guess I've never really understood the fascination with the Foundation Room. Maybe because it's "members only", people feel exclusive? I find myself ending up here too often, mostly because a friend knows a member or has a VIP pass.
I've been to a few, Chicago, Vegas, Dallas and one thing I can say is they are all consistent. The decor is warm and cozy, kind of like what I imagine "the study" would look like in a game of Clue...with a touch of Buddhism. To me, having a few drinks early or on a week night is nice, but when it gets crowded and clubby, it loses its appeal for me. Last Friday, the DJ was spinning but the speakers sounded slightly distorted.
The pro for me was the friendly and professional staff. Even the bouncer who kicked us out of the hallway (we were eavesdropping on the show...shhh) was very pleasant and offered the option of the patio if we would like some quiet time. Nice!
The con would be the patio. Sounds really nice, until you get out there. It overlooks a parking lot and is reminiscent of a motel balcony.
So anyway, I could take it or leave it. Perfect for three stars.Listed in: My Dallas Learning Experience

When it comes to the Foundation Room, I have to say I'm a little spoiled. Surprisingly enough, it's not for the elite treatment that members get nor the amazing food that the people downstairs just don't know their missing: I'm spoiled because it freaks people out that I'm there.
Having been a Foundation Room member since our wonderful HOB opened here in Dallas (yes, my name is on that funky mirror near the bar), I have noticed that it attracts a certain class/type of clientele. That class/type just doesn't jive with how I present myself, so I often garner stares when I'm up at the bar ordering one of their tasty, tasty Bombay Sapphire martinis. Now, there's nothing wrong with this. I realize that "I'm not like the other kids." I'm sure that half of the people think that I'm with one of the bands playing at one of the two venues downstairs: no skin off my back.
The standout thing about the Foundation Room is the staff. I have never met more attentive, personable staff in what I typically describe as a "fancy bar." I spend a lot of my time at dive bars. The people there always know me because I'm there often, tip well, and pretty much always behave. "Fancy bars" don't have to remember you. Hell, one of the defining factors for a "fancy bar" is that they don't remember you because you aren't as important as the image of the bar. Not so for the Foundation Room.
A not-so-lauded benefit of the Foundation Room that has made me appreciate my annual dues is the "mini" Foundation Room in the main Music Hall. Members can crash out on the couches down there and get a good shot of the stage without having to fight for standing room in the rest of the General Admission area. It's a nice little perk that makes it all worth it. -

o_O I felt like I was in a big cat preserve. Cougars as far as the eye could see. The decor was okay, but I can't say the same for the dj. No one should be playing 50 Cent's "Birthday" song in this day and age, but the cougars loved it and had fun in their grind line trying to woo 40 year old guys with leotard level tight shirts who were checking out the girls in their 20s. It was such a lovely trainwreck to watch, but as much fun as people watching can be, it is not worth the $15 to valet and overpriced drinks. I will definitely award an extra star to the staff. They were super sweet to me and I can see why people would want to return continually for that alone.

Not quite sure how I got in there one night but I did and it was awesome. Great design for a club, service at bar was good, DJ played some classic hip-hop tracks and I was dancing my behind off.... Really loved the vibe, cool people, everyone enjoying themselves. Loved it. As per Bill B's review, feel exactly the same about decor.

A genie bottle crossed with an opium den with a side of country club. It is members only most of the time, however private parties are known to frequent the upstairs of HOB. If u get a chance to be invited to a gathering at this psychedelic "Members Only" establisment, do not wear flip flops or shorts, but get ready to have a blast...I only go when my good friend is throwin a shin dig. Thus, BEAUTIFUL atmosphere, stiff drinks, great sound system and fantastic patio to smoke and conversate on.
