Ohhh Foolish Chicken.
I have to shout out the the great management at this restaurant. I threw an event here a year or so ago and they were phenomenal. We reserved the room upstairs, and while the stairs were a little steep, the staff did everything they could to ensure the event ran smoothly. They re-arranged furniture, helped us with AV stuff and were genuinely cheerful.
I've visited the Foolish Chicken several times since and have only been bummed out once because my sweet potato fries were a little overdone. Other than that, I simply LOVE their Dr. Pepper pulled chicken sandwich. Damn, writing this review just made me want one immediately. I must admit though, I was a bit dismayed to learn they don't serve Dr. Pepper as a beverage choice - wouldn't that be AMAZING with the sandwich?
My favorite thing about this spot is the atmosphere - it feels just like a little neighborhood hotspot...my favorite kind of place in the city. The staff always treat you well and the owner will often drop by to see how your meal was. If you're in Westboro for lunch, don't pass this place up. -

I've been a few times here and love it. The sweet potato fries and chicken wings were great appetizers. The ribs are a must try for sure, tender and not dry at all.
Great gluten-free food with staff that seem to understand food allergies well. I love eating here! -

Went the other night for the first time after reading the reviews here and was quite let down.
Service was fine (nor more than fine, although the owner was pleasant) but the food was way off. The sauce on the ribs was very odd. I did not enjoy the taste at all. Chicken was tender and juicy, but again it was slathered in a really sweet and odd sauce. I had read here that the chicken was roasted with a dry-rub and came out nice and crispy-the skin on my bird was limp, wet and slimy.
Wedge fries were overcooked and without flavor. Dessert was the highlight. Had the Gingerbread cake, but for $7.00 it was just a little wedge with a squirt of whipped cream
I had such high hopes but things fell flat
I'm not a fan of Swiss Chalet but frankly would put it a notch above what I had the other night. For Ribs, I would go to Baton Rouge any day of the week.
Maybe just a off night for the kitchen, but i will pass on a return visit -

A group of four of us went out for an early dinner. The restaurant opened up at 5:00, and we were the first group there.
The restaurant is two floors. We were seated on the second floor. We were happy to have the owner serving us for the evening. He was so kind, and had a great sense of humor.
Three of us ordered the the quarter chicken with half a rack of ribs, and potato wedges. The fourth person ordered just the quarter chicken and potato wedges. One word...DELICIOUS!
The chicken and ribs were both flavorful, and tender. The potato's were amazing, as well as the coleslaw.
We all agreed that they were better than the ribs that we had at the Ottawa Rib fest in the past years.
The service was quick, as we were in and out in an hour. Total bill came to just a little less than $100.00 for four entrees, two beers and a piece of gingerbread rum cake, which was delicious as well.
We will definitely be back. I would love to try the onion rings next time, as well as the pulled pork sandwich. -

I met a friend here around 830pm on a Tuesday and wasn't expecting it to be busy, since it was a Tuesday, after all. When I got there, however, my friend was waiting at the bar area for a table to be cleared for us.
The staff clearly hadn't been expecting it to be so busy either and were trying to recuperate, but still had the time to suggest a nice blended drink for my friend with fresh pineapple. I had some wine and we perused the menu. It was a hard decision, a lot of sandwiches looked good, but in the end I felt like having a hearty meal and decided on the quarter chicken, with sweet potato fries and cornbread.
After another glass of wine, our dinner arrived. A fantastic barbecue dipping sauce came with my chicken. I have to admit, that I may have eaten a couple of bites with more sauce than chicken...
The meat was moist and the skin crispy; in other words perfect. The sweet potato fries were good and the cornbread was delicious, though tiny.
By this time the restaurant was actually empty, but the owner (who had actually been serving us) assured us that they were still open and to sit as long as we liked. A cup of coffee ended of our meal beautifully. -

The Foolish Chicken is actually a pretty cool little place on Holland. There's a lot of good restaurants in and around this area so it took me awhile to actually get to visit this one.
The staff was super nice but the place was pretty much full with 1 table left available. They seated our party and I ordered what I had to. A delicious chicken and rib platter. I've had a lot of great chicken lately and when I got some from The Foolish Chicken I felt really let down. My chicken was really dry. They have a lot of sauce on the chicken and it's a strong hickory sauce. The ribs though were pretty good. I was also not a fan of their thin cut fries. I'm not sure if they were going for more of a chip with the way it was cut but it seemed dry and almost burnt. I tried drowning them in the hickory bbq sauce.
If I do come back to this place I'll definitely stick to the ribs. If you want chicken I'd save your visit to Nando's or Yre's new spot. -

My friend kept recommending the place to me that I finally went there for lunch to see if it deserved such hype. The chicken was delicious. My biggest complaint about chicken is getting it dried out. Perfectly cooked. And so moist. The fries were good too. The staff was very friendly. I liked the takeout boxes and I could recycle everything except the plastic fork and knife. Now I am recommending the place.

Think Foolish Chicken, then think Swiss Chalet, now look back at Foolish Chicken. Sadly, Swiss Chalet is not Foolish Chicken, but it could be if had the ambiance and tasty crispiness of the Foolish Chicken's signature bbq'd chicken. The ribs are also good. Good kids menu and friendly service round out this neighbourhood joint.
