Tucked in behind YVR's southside. this little pub offers great waterfront view in a comfortable environment.

Offering excellent beers, burgers, nacho's, and wings. With daily deals happening, the food here is excellent. I wish they served some craft beer though. Being a hot wings fan, the only thing I craved for awhile while sick was their honey garlic wings. They are so good!

The only problem that I have experienced, is that the tables are a bit small. For a party of two, we found our table for 4 inadequate for what we ordered. This is place is especially busy during Canucks game so arrive early.

If you want to have a beer and enjoy good bar food... Flying Beaver is great!
The negatives: it's a pub and service is not really there but just don't expect service and you'll be good to go. =)
Weds are wing nights, yummy but super busy.

    Horray for Beaver!

My gal friend has been talking up the beaver for a while now. I pictued some hole-in-the-wall kinda divey place. Boy was I wrong. Easy to get to...fantastic locale...great decor...HOT chick waitresses.

We 3 ladies stopped in on our way to Vancouver from Seattle for a girl's night. Apparently Caesars are the hot ticket here, but ick, clam juice. No thank you. I had one of the vast beer selections. For noshing we had potato skins covered in shredded pork, and yam fries that comes with a chipotle aioli. Ay caramba! So good.

Of course the views here can't be beat. If you're in the area, or have a long wait for a flight out, definintely give the Beaver a try.

What a fun place to sit, have dinner and watch the hydro planes take off and land!  Steps from YVR International Airport, this is a major airline crew hangout.

The menu was extensive, ranging from ahi tuna salad to halibut fish and chips to surf and turf.  Prices are reasonable, and if you remember to bring your airline ID, you get a 25% discount.

Been going here for awhile now, discovered it after a friend worked here.  The atmosphere on a summer day is incredible, watching the float planes land and take off while having lunch with some friends, cant beat that.
Game nights are crazy busy and thats when service is somewhat lacking, however overall good service, and good food.  Decent prices and you get good portions.

Was waiting for take a float plane ride and merely stopped in thinking I had to kill some time.  After a few drinks and some calamari realized this place was for real and a stand alone bar.  Being right by the water with a great patio.  Off the beaten track but if you are done wondering around Steveston head over and grab a pint and enjoy the sunset.

    I am a fan.
I am sold by the view. Overlooking the river and planes taking off in a cast of sunlight (summer). Well, the food is not bad too.
Yam fries is average and a bit too pricey for the portion ($6 for the size of McDonald's small fries).
Beef dip is nice, as well as the avocado seafood panini.
Booze is average, service is above average.
Atmosphere is casual and I figure out it's the last castle of the white people in Richmond.

Yay! Discovered another place where white people hang out in Richmond!  Needless to say, BH was thrilled to find his brethren enjoying good old fashioned pints and wings, getting drunk and united in cheering for our Vancouver Canucks.  Seated at the bar, BH leans over to whisper, "I feel like I'm in Canada again."  Laughing hysterically, I pointed out that Richmond IS still in Canada.  Me thinks he's really missing Victoria!

To reiterate what everyone's been saying, great wings, awesome harbour front view, great food and decent wait service.  For pub food, it really is pretty good. I was very surprised by how good the tiramisu was for a pub; it's the real deal.  The drink specials are a steal; slightly lower prices than any pub so far we've been to in Vancouver.  Best part for me was seeing patrons smoking out on the deck.  I don't really smoke but it's nice to be in an establishment where people are not so uptight.

BH and I will be back for sure.  It does seem to me that it's a place where people are picking up or wanting to pick up other people, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on what you feel like.  Just sayin'.

Ah, the Beaver.  Big part of my growing up.

I can't remember how I first heard of this place, but it has never disappointed.  Many a Wednesday evening has been wasted here.

Parking is ample.. in a lot across the road @ Harbour Air.  If you want one of the spots in the lot directly in front, you really do have to get lucky.  However, if you ride a motorcycle..

As I'm not a hockey fan (unless you count cheering for whoever happens to be playing), I try to avoid game nights if I can.  This place gets packed with Canucks fanboys/fangirls.  There's also an outdoor heated (but not covered) patio, for those summer nights.

On game nights, they have this contest (other places have it too but thought I'd mention) where you draw a card with a Canuck's number, and if he scores, you get a drink.  The kicker is that if you draw a goalie and he has a shutout for the period, that counts a "score" for the goalie.  Now I may be no hockey expert but something tells me the goalie cards give you the best odds of scoring free drinks. *wink*

For a date it's not bad, but a bit loud.  Trust me, I've tried, and it wasn't even a game night.

    Now onto the food.

The beaver's claim to fame.  WINGS (Wednesdays and Sundays).  There are 6 flavours.  Pints of Honey Brown are also $3.75 on this day.  The wings are 40c each.  My rankings:

    1) Thai Chili - pure crack.  I can eat this all day.  Sweet with a spicy kick. My favourite!
    2) Salt + Pepper - covered with rock salt + pepper, but otherwise plain (ie no sauce).  Actually one of the better tasting ones, as you can also easily rub off some of the salt to suit your taste.  I like rock salt for some stupid reason.
    3) Honey Garlic - very delicious and you can actually taste the honey.  Another staple, but very similar wings can be had elsewhere.
    4) Hot - this one has just the right amount of spiciness in my opinion.  However, you do not want to get a dozen of just this type.
    5) BBQ - this one tastes like BBQ sauce.  Maybe I'm thinking more of bbqed wings when I eat this one, but I find it rather disappointing.
    6) Teriyaki - imo the worst one.  Are they buying this sauce from a factory in Prince George or something?

    Mondays - Burger Night
You can't go wrong with this burger either.  Also served with salad and fries, for a reasonable price.  But it's nothing special.

    Tuesdays - Fish & Chips
They serve it in this Chinese-style basket (think dim sum), with "salad" (really just a pile of shredded lettuce, see pic).  The pieces are a bit smaller than some other places but it's not bad.  Fries are a bit on the soggy side, and tartar sauce is a bit too salty.  Maybe it's just done differently.  My only complaint is that I left hungry.  The drink special is pale ale.

    Thursdays - Steak Night
For some $10, you can get a decent steak made to order, coleslaw, and skewer with 4 shrimp.  This is actually pretty tasty.  My only complaint is that I have to swing by McDonald's after leaving.  It's not the biggest steak.

All in all, a great place to sit back, get some decent pub food, and grab a drink all while watching the occasional seaplane takeoff/land.  There is ALWAYS a drink special (except for maybe Fridays but I could be wrong), and the prices aren't bad at all.

    Recommended.

We came here after a long day and I just realized something.

After coming here many times, I never looked at the food specials...only at the beer.  Did you know that there are 40 cent wings every Wednesday after 5pm. This equates to 10 wings for 4 bucks. 20 wings for 8! This would not be a surprise if they weren't delicious but they are.

I hate writing a review like this, but, we each enjoyed 20 wings and 4 beers 28 bucks each with tax. I had the traditional hot and thai chili and, being a big wing fan, enjoyed them quite a bit. I just wanted to let all of the yelpers in Vancouver know about this!

Very cool pub with a great atmoshere right on the Fraser river. I went here with friends and we ordered a few appies and sat near the window watching the view of the river as well as the planes flying overhead from nearby YVR.

Looking for a good pub?  The Flying Beaver is pretty fun.  Located in Richmond near YVR.  It has friendly staff and has good specials.

I usually go on a Weds night, wing night, where wings are $0.35/wing.  Good meaty wings with lots of different flavors.  Beers are like $4.75/pint.

It can get crowded if you go late or on a game night.  It has a bunch of TVs.

The only reason I gave the 4/5 stars is due to the location and inaccessibility from public transit.

The Flying Beaver is an awesome standby for travelers wanting to get out of the airport for a bit or anyone at the seaplanes/south terminal. Easy to get to, great prices, friendly staff and the food is terrific.

My most recent trip to the Beaver included a beer and the awesome new calamari. It was super tasty, spicy, went great on the patio with my honey brown beer.

You can get to the beaver by shuttle from the airport as well as taking a cab or bus. Check out the mostly inappropriate swag and underwear in the display case right out front by Harbor Air.

And before I forget, this is where people go to pick up pilots, pretend to be pilots to meet women, or are pilots and probably shouldn't have been drinking that table full of beers and shots.

A great, but hard to take transit, pub (easy to get there but not back to the Canada Line afterward with the last incoming bus around 6:30pm).
Their trivia nights are legendary with tables creating teams and competing with each other funwise/trivia-wise all night.

Definitately something to try to get to (as long as you have a ride home/to transit after)

Background: This our new sports bar go-to place in Vancouver.

Food: Wings are good if not great.  They're savoury and messy and just what the doctor ordered for the big game.

Ambiance: Looks like a warm cabin with a central fireplace, but actually has heating issues.  Especially in the perennial Vancouver Spring/Fall rainy season, there don't seem to be enough heat lamps to cover their humungous patio, in which they seat overflow clients.  The atmosphere is quite loud and festive although this is not technically a mingling bar.

Service: Great, personable servers who clearly know what they're doing.

Pricepoint: Each person is gonna spend $15-20 here.

Overall: I like this place, I imagine it will grow on me as I eat/drink here more often, indoors, and get here early enough to avoid their cold-as-stone patio.

Owned by the Mark James Group, this down to earth pub is situated in the same building as the Harbour Air Seaplane terminal by YVR.

Probably one of my favourite places to visit when I'm craving pub food
Basic pub fare plus they have nightly dinner specials like pastas and grilled fish. I've been told that the burgers are phenomenal as well. One of my faves would have to be the chicken wings - meaty, juicy, and tasty! Oh and don't miss out on their most renowned special -
a 6 oz flat iron steak + 6 baby shrimp + loaded baked potato + salad.... all for under $10 (last I checked) WHAT??? Yes, it's true. Believe it.

On Saturdays and Sundays, they offer breakfast from 8am - 11am. When I am able to joust myself out of bed on a weekend morning to make the 30 min drive... this would be one of my breakfast "go to" places. The breaky menu is not extensive but I've had consistently wonderful eggs benny here. The eggs are always poached perfectly. The smoked salmon benny with dill cream cheese is a must try item! Oh, and the breakfast potatoes are addictive....

Daily drink specials are great on the pocketbook as well. Martinis are $4.49 on Tuesdays. And $3.04 for a sleeve of draft beer on Sundays!!

Staff are super friendly. They always seem to be in a great mood. Great service service every time!

One thing should be noted: The restaurant seating is all first come first serve. Could get kind of hectic during dinner times and weekend nights. Be patient.

The Flying Beaver is the Canadian experience poured into a pub.  It is THE place I take foreigners to when they want to go to a "Canadian bar."

This pub stands on stilts over the North Fraser.  Its remote location truly communicates the feeling of isolation and vastness that Canada is known for.  And you don't have to drive miles outside of Vancouver to get to it, being located just across the Arthur Laing bridge near to the airport.  It is also the home of Harbour Air, so as you sit and sip drinks you can watch Beavers (hence the name) and other seaplanes take off and land on the river.

On a nice day, the patio is the place to be.  It's probably the nicest patio in Richmond.  The indoor atmo is also nice, with lots of natural wood to complement the Canadian theme.

The Flying Beaver has a good variety of cocktails and beers, with $3 domestic pints on Sundays.  The food, however, is pretty average.  It's not bad, but it's not at all memorable.  But I feel the ambiance of the place more than makes up for the lack-lustre food.

So the next time you're entertaining a foreigner, check out "The Beav."

I'm definitely one to chase a view and this one is worth chasing.  The building is half airport and half restaurant / pub.  It's got a great ski lodge feel with wood beams and wide windows facing the Fraser River where float planes come and go before your eyes.
Went for lunch and had a very good seafood (crab) and avocado sandwich with side caesar.  Service was super attentive, taking away plates, bringing refills, checking in when necessary, and performed by a team of servers - always nice to know you're being looked out for.  Our cute blond server had a great sense of humor on top of it all.  It was a perfect respite in the middle of a day of hard work.

The best and most  interesting bruschetta you will ever have. And boy, do they ever love the Canucks. A great pub with a lovely pub feel, amazing menu and a whole lot of fun.

Taking my gf to the airport we stopped here tonight for some grub and might I say that this is the place to chill. Too bad it's so darn far from the downtown core, but maybe that is the charm of it. What a quality place to be. Don't miss out on going out of your way for awesomeness.

My boyfriend really likes this place, and I did too for a while but to be honest, it doesn't really thrill me. The food and drinks are expensive, unless you go for wing Wednesdays. Every time we go, I stare at the menu for so long, trying to decide on which boring meal I'd like to have. I don't know, it's just not exciting for some reason. They've never done anything terrible, but I can't get pumped for dining here.

That being said, the location on the water is amazing. They have great views of sea planes landing and taking off, as well as the river. This is a great place to go to watch a sunset. Probably good for a first date place.

It's always, always busy at this place and hard to find a table. Once you do, the crowds really start to get to you, and since it's a bar, there are a lot of people just drinking and standing around. Often the police pop by to check on the crowd, but I have never seen anyone get rowdy or kicked out.

No, it's not a move a Canadian stripper does, it's a restaurant/bar on the banks of the middle arm of the Fraser River.  While knocking back some beers, our hero enjoys the sights of the airport nearby and seeing the float planes take off.  Wings here are killer (though not exactly cheap) and they have a nice deal on martinis on Tuesdays as well.

    PROS:
    - A great place for planespotting!
    - Diverse cocktail selections.
    - Nice covered patio.

    CONS:
    - Aside from the wings, the rest of the menu is so-so.
    - There's a transvestite who frequents the bar that kind of freaks me out sometimes.

Also, everyone working, from the host to the bartender, was friendly and upbeat... a nicely run place!

Went here for lunch yesterday. TGIF was in full effect so we had to wait a few minutes at the front door. The waitstaff was more than accomodating, bringing us beers and menus while we waited.  Once seated, our food was brought out verrrry quickly! I had the same burger, only with fries instead of the house salad that borders on trail mix. Plump and juicy patty, not overcooked, a contender for one of the best pub burgers I've had in Vancouver.

They have daily drink and food specials..Burgers/Wings and Salads are always good. My boyfriend loves their beef Dip. My only complaint is the "getting out there" We would drink there more late nights if they offered some kind of shuttle. Basically if you do drink there your only option is a taxi, and Im pretty sure you can't leave your car overnight :(

My all time favourite place for wings!!! They have food & drink specials for everyday of the week.

This is located at the south end of Russ Baker Way, and it's shared with the Habour Air Seaplane terminal. Lots of parking in the lot across the street.

Big windows with the view of the Fraser spans the restaurant, large open patio is perfect for hanging out with friends in the summer. Nice, spacious place.

Come on Wednesdays for $0.30 wings!! Arrive early, because it's always packed. Favourite flavours are honey garlic and thai chili. I can eat so many wings that I lose count. Wednesday drink special is the honey lager for $3.84.

Tuesdays martinis are $5!! LOVE the lychee-tini!

Thursday steak special is as good as it gets for $10. Where else can you have a steak at this price?

Try the nachos here, even the 'small' size is good enough to share between 3-4 people. It's loaded with toppings, and always enough cheese to cover most of the chips.

Again, wings are juicy and highly addictive here. Great food, great environment. Bring an empty stomach, and you will surely be satisfied.

    Oh my gosh YELP CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going up, as I do every year, in a couple weeks.

I have been going up to BC since I was a kid.... fishing with my pop and friends.  Since then, I have developed a contingent of endless brethern across Vancouver Island and the surrounding areas, as well as on the mainland.

Whenever I have a layover in Vancouver, am heading either here or there... be it with family or friends...

I am maniacal about getting to the Flying Beaver.

A simple lodge-like pub with a deck, it has incredible bar food, AWESOME service and the servers are cute to boot.  I might not be noticing the guys.  Frankly.  As I am about to start sitting in a 17 ft boat for 12 hours a day with two other guys drinking scotch, I can tell you I am not looking at the guys.

Anyhoo.... they always let us be rambunctious, and we really have a fine ole time and this place reminds me of some of the most relaxing, excited, at peace moments I ever get.... that gentle anticipation of leaving for a relaxing adventure.

The other part of the allure is that the classic old Flying Beaver planes locally are constantly flying in and out... random pilots getting some eats, hopefully not too much booze.  Others are just chartered, and they are waiting for clients...

whatever the case, the view.... the food.... the service... and OH MY GOSH YELP CANADA I AM SO EXCITED.

It's a fun bar, not a club/lounge bar.  I found it to be a tad meat-markety, which is funny to witness.  I would reckon they get many pilot types and women with their war paint on looking to conquer one of these pilot types.  I could be wrong in what I'm witnessing though.

The food is meh. I only remember the nachos are purdy big and beer is fast and flowing.  I've only been here three times, once after a hockey game with another friend so it was just beer and chill, the other two times for Name That Tune!

Name That Tune is not easy, man.  I thought I'd get at least three right answers each time but prolly only one correct each time.  It's a lot of fun though.  If you want to take part, come here for dinner on Saturday and stay for the quiz which begins at 9, I think.

I LOVE pub quizzes.  I hope to find more pubs that do a variety of quizzes, and not just naming songs.

Ps - Please don't be a prick and shout out the answers if you're not taking part in the quiz in the main room.  It's protocol.

As a commercial pilot who worked out of South Terminal forever, you can imagine why this would be my favorite pub.. BUT even when i am not working this is still my favorite pub in the Vancouver region. And yes it's full of local pilots, mtc engineers, or other aviation workers. It is worth the drive to this gem right on the mouth of the Fraser river. Nothing makes me happier then having a pint of whatever beer is on special, and having a salmon burger with 1/2 fries, 1/2 salad. If your a frequent Beaver attender, take advantage of there stamp card and get a free meal when you fill up your card. Great daily specials, plus 25% off on Tuesdays if you have your airport security pass.
The one problem is .. it's no longer a secret that this place is awesome, so it's hard to get a seat sometimes. That just means you have to hang around the bar with the friendly wait staff and swoop around the seating area waiting for someone to leave. I could almost recommend them getting a hostess during peak times.
Sunsets here are glorious and a highlight of my summers.
One other problem is getting around this area of South Terminal. The buses don't run late out this way, and taxi's cost a fortune.

I'm not going back to this pub until they figure out a seating arrangement. No reservations, fend-for-yourself-for-a-table is not a fun way to start an evening out with guests from out of town. I was hovering over tables like a vulture and ready to tackle this ass who wanted to grab my table. Not much fun. And food was so-so, to boot!

what a beautiful pub right by the water, i mean... on the water!
the service is good, the atmosphere great (especially when the canucks are playing) and the food is delicious.  the pad thai is pretty big but almost $15, the roasted veggie pizza was great. so fresh and filling. the bruschetta is so worth a try. nothing you've ever had before. yum. my friend got the fish and chips. it looked great and he said it was. pretty big piece of fish.
    drink prices are decent.
you can also get a frequent beaver card. 10 stamps and you get a free meal

Been here a bunch of times and has always been alright...Probably wouldn't make a special trip if I wasn't already in the neighborhood though. Most of the food I've had here has been pretty good with the exception of the Chicken wings. They are really hit or miss. Sometimes they're decent, other times crap. They are fairly expensive for what you get as well. Parking sucks, and it can become crowded fairly quickly since it is a fairly small place. If you're near the airport though, and wand a decent pub meal, this is decent option.

While waiting for our sea plane flight to Victoria, we sat down for a drink & appetizer. The outside seating was taken, too bad, so we took a window seat inside. Great views of the Fraser River and the sea planes coming & going. Drinks were good and the crab cakes were excellent, do not miss these. The prices are not inexpensive, but since the crab cakes were so good, not an issue. I can see why this place is so popular. Also the sea plane flight to Victoria was the highlight of our week!

been here a couple times in the past month.. love the atmosphere

it literally seems to be in the middle of nowhere

close to YVR at South Terminal.. stand alone place on the side of the road

in the day the view might be really nice.. its right on the water and you can probably see planes landing/taking off

fairly big space inside with a back room and patio as well

atmosphere is lively and they were playing name that tune on a sat nite which was fun to watch

food is pretty good and very cheap! as are drinks!

first time i went i got a 7oz steak dinner with salad and loaded baked potato for $10!  (it was a thurs nite special).  i've also had yam fries, chicken wings (honey garlic are the best), calamari and the bison burger there.. all good choices.

the $4.50 a glass wine is not really good at all but at that price, i guess u can't go wrong.  they usually have other drink specials which are really good.

service was awesome.. our waitress was dancing along to the music.. always smiled and checked on us often.

would definitely recommend this place.. its actually not that far especially from Richmond.. only 5-10 minute drive from richmond centre.  free parking across the street in a lot.

A friend keeps his boat across the river and after the cruise along the river and returning to the marina its over to the Beaver for a beer and burger, that's what it's about beers and burgers and beavers, we were sitting on the deck awhile ago and in pulled a beaver to the ramp, out stepped the pilot and he headed across the road to get the lifter to move the plane to the yard, well the tide was rising, what do pilots know of the tide, eh? Well he had to swim out to the plane that drifted off the ramp while he was away, there is a moral in there about beavers getting away or something. Enjoy the river view and have a beer on the deck.

The water view was fantastic and so was the food(though we only ate part of them), but I wish I could say the same about the service and the attitude of the server, in particular Andrea . We ordered quite a bit of food and drinks ($90.+),just to start with, but unfortunately our fourth member of the party lost her way coming to the restaurant.(her GPS was not functioning). So one of the remaining three has to go out and lead the direction for her to arrive at the restaurant. What follows was a complete unexplainable series of events.  Andrea the server came over and told us that within 15 minutes, if the guest do not return,  his chair will be taken AWAY!  HEAVENS FORBID, we were there only less an hour then,  our food and wine came already and started enjoying them.  The poor girl lost her way coming over, not an intentional delay tactics to occupy your table.  This so called server Andrea kept  telling us 10 minutes left, 5 minutes left, when that 5 minutes gone, the chair was taken  away.  We asked to get the manager over. To make matter worse, the so called Manager,  Phil Wong came over and offered no help. If the capacity is for so many people  why is it still allowed to have patrons come in?  If there is a time limit to leave the chair vacant, say 15 minutes, why not disclose it ahead of time before we  order all this food & drink?  Why is there not enough chairs for the overcrowded number of guest?  Anyway, hope some all these questions can be answered, and the attitude of Andrea  and the manager were totally unacceptable.  They should  get more training on how to serve customers.
