I found out about the Fix while searching another salon's reviews on YELP. Some of the stylists from the other salon now work at the Fix.
Unfortunately for me, my regular stylist has changed careers and is an interior designer now. I am very happy for her!
I decided to give the Fix a try and saw Kirsten for my 'do. Kirsten was awsome! Friendly, good energy from this girl and she did an amazing job on my hair. Twice now! I am now sold to the Fix!
I live in Surrey, BC so I wait as long as I can between cuts so I can go to Victoria and see Kirsten at the Fix! -

I may be on a new haircut high, but I just saw Vanessa today to tame my seriously out-of-control hair, and I loved her. A lot.
Mostly because she listened to what I wanted, asked me the right questions, and gave me an AMAZING cut.
Partly because I was in a horrible, body-image-hating mood earlier (the mirror made me cry), and now I feel like a hottie. And random strangers complimented me on the street. Now THAT is the sign of a good haircut.
Now I can't wait to go back and update my color. If Visit 2 is anywhere even close to as good as Visit 1, I think I've found my new salon. -

I was in town from Seattle for the weekend and found myself with some extra time on my hands, so I figured I'd get a haircut. I called around to a few places near where I was staying, not overly optimistic about finding an opening on a Saturday afternoon (on a holiday weekend, no less). The Fix had a few spots open, so I figured I'd give it a shot. At worst, I only needed my hair evened out (I'd been growing out a short cut), so I figured there wasn't much that could go wrong.
My pessimism was unwarranted. Piper is a *MIRACLE WORKER*!!! She immediately recognised the oddities of my hair (fine hair, but LOTS of it) and knew right away how to handle it. She set to work thinning it out and putting layers in all the right places. She worked quickly with the razor and the hot iron, which led to some momentary nervousness, but the years of experience showed as the shape emerged seemingly without effort.
This is the best cut I've had in years and definitely one of the top 3 in my life. Now I'm faced with just one dilemma... How on earth am I going to justify coming back to Victoria every time I need a haircut?! -

Go to Lisa!!!
Okay, so I've lived in LA, Santa Barbara, and Victoria. I played Guinea Pig amongst all of my blonde friends in University in Santa Barbara and ended up trying out 6 salons during my time at school. The 6th times a charm. I also went to this swanky hair studio in Brentwood, CA costing me upwards of $210.00. Most of my haircuts were good but I'm one of those blonde girls who will leave the place, go to my car, and wail like a little baby in my car--yes, I'm sadly one of those. But as a blonde we are very particular about our blonde...
Anyways, so I was visiting my family in Victoria and heading back down home to Los Angeles and needed an affordable new due. I walk into The Fix, wait for my stylist, and up walks the tiniest cutest friggin girl. She was super young, super cute, and I was like, really?? An amateur is going to do my hair. This girl blew my ass out of the water. I have seriously never had such an amazing hair cut and color. It always seems that they never go hand in hand-- either a stylist can cut really well but can color or vice for versa. She was amazing-- I'm in love. And, super affordable! -

I gave the Fix three tries with two different stylists, one of them being the owner. I'll never go there again! When you tell the stylist what you want fixed after they've hacked away at your hair, they give it another try, and you still have to go home and fix it yourself, you know it's not worth your time or money. One time I ended up with half of my hair an inch shorter than the other. The cliche holier-than-thou salon attitude makes for an uncomfortable experience all around. Don't bother going to the Fix.

So basically more Victoria dwellers need to be yelpers as this is the best salon in Victoria and many people agree with me. They just don't voice it online. I personally used to frequent another salon on the other side of Broad St that was once an extremely reputable business, but has since gone downhill.... big time. That salon turned my naturally blonde, highlighted hair green and kept charging me to attempt to fix it. I can't begin to tell you how many salons I visited, searching for advice and giving stylists opportunities to convince me they could fix it. It was only when I encountered the Fix that I felt a glimmer of hope for getting my very green hair back to a state of normalcy... or blonde with blonde highlights in my case. Gerrard the owner, advised me at first to try a homemade concoction of lemons and aspirin, but this didn't do the trick. I went back to him and he recommended Candice as the resident 'blonde expert.' Funnily enough she had been recommended to me previously, but I hadn't wanted to jump ship at that point. For years now I have been more than pleased with my salon and stylist. They also seem to have quite a diverse staff specializing in different areas. Plus anytime I haven't been able to get in to see Candice she has picked someone equally as capable to do my hair.
On a side note my cut and colour for quite long hair (and lots of it) runs about $190 after a $20 tip. Nobody at this salon charges $150 for a hair cut. There seemed to be some confusion about that in a previous post. Go to the Fix!Listed in: Pretty in the City
