Their crusts are so crispy and tasty. I think probably they use whole wheat dough that is why their crusts taste better.
My favorite pizza is Margarita. And I notice most reviewers only mentioned about their pizzas. In fact, I found their pastas really good too. They have the best pastas I have ever had. Try their Chicken Linguine. It is really good. And also their garlic breads. -

Love. It.
The ingredient combinations are delicious, and the quality has never disappointed. Plus, they deliver.. FREE.
The Parmagiana is a consistant favourite. Fresh basil, garlic, chicken, parmesan, oregano & lemon!
Try it and let me know I'm not the only one that's in love.

Review from Mark H.
Wood-fired oven pizzerias are popping up everywhere this year. I'm a big fan of wood-fired thin crust pizza. Being in my hood and being lazy, I ordered delivery.
Pizza arrived pretty fast. We ordered two small pizzas. The Chicago and the Margarita. Ingredients appeared fresh, but not outstanding. The Chicago tasted better, and the crust was alright.
Is it with the extra coin? Not quite, but not bad. -

Listen if you are looking for cheap "Panago" or "Dominos" or "Flying Wedge Pizza" this is not the place. They do call themselves gourmet, but at the same time its pizza really folks. Comparatively (and I just looked it up, its about 3-5$ more per large pizza) its a bit more per pizza, but you are having something that is nice crispy thin firewood cooked pizza.
Ordered two pizza's
Thai Chicken
Verdict: Not my choice for pizza's but it was actually really good, I'm not a Thai fan at all, so I was rather skeptical about the peanut butter being in there, but it was subtle enough not to be overpowering. Would recommend getting.
Chicago
Nice helping of meat, nothing to crazy so if you are expecting a meat sandwich then order something else. Sauce was delicious not to much cheese, and these pizza's definitely are not greasy.
YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY I WANT FIREWOOD PIZZA IN MY TUMMY! -

Best. Pizza. Ever.
They don't use a ton of cheese so you get loads of delicious toppings instead of "filler cheese". The toppings are fresh, the crust is thin and crispy...and there's something about it that makes me think I'm in Italy again. It's not supposed to be panago or dominos. It's classic Italian pizza at it's finest.
The classic veggie & the tuscany are my favourites. SO AMAZING!!!!
After you eat here, every other pizza joint's pizza starts to taste like cardboard.
It's not greasy, it's not congealed, it's not dough-y. :D :D -
Review from Maha E.
The pizza is straight-up: D-lish.
Probably because it comes straight from: a wood oven.
Wood ovens: are a rarity when it comes to Vancouver pizzerias. Believe me when I tell you that it DOES make a difference when your circle of goods meets its firey-hellish, yet heavenly end for a mere fifteen minutes before it is passed-on to a worthy stomach on a cardboard platter.
You wouldn't be able to find it: unless you knew to look for the bright orange awning on the East side of Cambie Street.
Think again if you thought Will Smith was fresh: you'll swear that all of the toppings used here were picked right from their backyard, save for the backyard animals. I promise you, Fido is safe- it's Miss Piggy and Moo Moo Melon that you should be worried about.
Try it: There's something about the crust that tastes so different. I'd really like to know what the wood oven does to make these triangle slices taste so good.
Recommended main deal: Any of the veggie pizzas and definitely the margarita pizza.
Score: Straight good, straight Cambie hood. -

Extremely interesting pizza flavours.
Who knew that a Hawaiian pizza would taste great with pine nuts.

Review from Yoony P.
*ACT I SCENE I*
Firewoodeo: "Thou wilt receivest 10% off thine order of 'gourmet firewood oven baked' pizza if thou come hither to pick it up."
Yooniette: "Oh goody! Anon, anon, I come!"
*ACT II SCENE I*
Yooniette: "Thine menu offers so many choices. Mine mouth is salivating! I shalt order the MILANO! The very thought of Italian Sausage is making me excited with hunger!"
(Yooniette must sit and rest as the excitement is too much for her.)
*ACT III SCENE I*
(Yooniette's servant Mikevoleo P. fetches desired pizza from Firewoodeo)
*ACT IV SCENE I*
(Yooniette opens the pizza box)
Yooniette: "What's this I see? A pizza that looks just as good to the eye as I hope will be as tasty on mine tongue. But alas! The big chunky sausage I so desired is nothing but paper thin shavings atop this warm pizza. What say ye Mikevoleo?"
Mikevoleo P: "I agree Madam, this pie dost look delicious but one bite dost reveal that it is not a 'gourmet' pizza."
Yooniette: "How now, what dost a 'gourmet pizza' make? A delicious crust? This pizza shall not have any. It tastes of the air, or perhaps more as the box it came from. I see the wheat within the dough--this is a good sign; however, nothing can make my tongue go past its flavour, or rather, flavourlessness! My tongue hath tasted finer, thy cousin Incendio from Burrardona and Broadwayeth hath better crust than this!"
*ACT V FINAL SCENE*
Yooniette: "Firewoodeo, Firewoodeo, wherefore art thou Firewoodeo?
Deny thy title and refuse thy gourmet name, as until thou deliverest a tastier crust and more girth to thy italian sausage, I shall be not wanton for you anymore!"
(Yooniette runs off into the distance in tears)

Review from Evilyn T.
It was a lazy Sunday, and I should have been doing homework, but we were playing Bioshock 2 on PS3, and decided pizza would go so well with it. We decided we'd try out the Firewood cafe for dinner, since everytime I walked by in the summer it smelled so dam good.
I ordered two small pizzas, one margarita and one Greek. The person on the phone said it would be about 30 minutes, and it was. The pizzas arrived nice and hot and I loved the margarita one! The only thing I felt was missing were dipping sauces for the crust, but that's just because we order from Panago most of the time and I love their jalapeno ranch dressing. The pizzas were slightly more expensive than Panago, but sometimes supporting a small local restaurant is going to be a bit costlier than supporting a big chain. I would order from these guys again since they do have quite a few veggie options that sound delish, and I need to try them all. -
Review from Mike P.
After years of walking by this place many many many times we decided to order (especially after reading the positive reviews on yelp). Unfortunately I didn't exactly feel the same way as most:
Toppings: it seemed like the toppings were carefully placed so the pizza seemed full but compared to a lot of other pizza places there were less toppings. If I have meat on my pizza I would like at least one piece per bite.
Price: there are many one location only places that have great prices, just because you are not panago does not mean you need to charge high prices. This place differentiates itself by calling the pizza gourmet and charging slightly higher prices. I think there are better pizza values in the city.
Crust: I had high expectations on the crust (stone oven) and found that it was about average, not really any better or worse than a place like panago.
My favorite pizza places is my neighborhood are panago, Dallas pizza and flying wedge. If I'm in the mood for a cheap slice fresh slice is a decent option for the price. I would return to all of the previously mentioned places before I try firewood again. -

Simply so delicious and tasty. I love going there all time for dinner and I suggest it to every on to try it. Believe me it's so good.

Review from Jessie J.
Probably my favourite non-downtown pizza joint in Vancouver. It is not GREAT pizza, but it is really GOOD pizza, and that is a rare commodity in this here town. Good crust, non-cloying sauce, neither too much nor too little cheese, quality toppings.
My faves are the Griled Veggie and the Spanako. Note about the Grilled Veggie, if you're ordering it, double check that they heard you right. I've twice ordered it and had the classic veggie arrive instead. It's nowhere near as good. And while it was nice getting credits for 2 free pizzas, I'd rather have received the right one to begin with.
Oh, if you have ordered there before and have a menu around your house, make sure you check the website before you order. If you scroll down to the bottom of the menu on the site, you'll find the pizza of the month. It changes (gasp, monthly!) and they often have some really fantastic flavours.Listed in: 'Zza!

This really is fantastic pizza. There is not much else to say about the food. It is truly delicious. The crust is wood-fired crispy goodness. Their tomato sauce is spicy and fresh. Not overdone with the toppings. Generally bonza.
The only caveat would lie in some understaffing and a totally stressed out manager - chill out, pizza friend! You have the best pizza I've had in Vancouver, just let the goodness work it's magic :)
If you want ab-fab, thin crust, wood fired, well topped pie - try this place out. -
Review from Marcus B.
Hands down the best pizza in Vancouver . Wood-fire baked, thin crust, plenty of superb tomato sauce, and an eye-popping selection of high-quality toppings ....and they even deliver. When I moved here in 2005 I spent a year trying to find decent pizza, and in my 6 years living in Vancouver I never found a worthy rival .

ADD'L UPDATE
I had to ramp up my review. I had the Formaggio pizza and it was the most delicious pizzas I have ever had.
UPDATE
The owner read my review and not only apologized for the driver's behaviour but offered a free pizza as well! It's a great feeling when business owners demonstrate their concern about the customer's experiences! Thanks Firewood!!
I love this pizza! Santa Fe makes my day!! My only issue comes from the guy delivering the pizza. The other day, my pizza was 45 minutes late and I tipped the ol' fella about 10%. He actually looked at the tip and disdainfully mumbled the amount aloud...in front of guests. I was so taken aback that I didn't respond other than shutting the door. I wished I had thought to kick him in the ass.
Anyway, I'm not about to walk away for one rude comment because the pizza is quite good; however, if it were to happen again, I might consider the competition. -

The Firewood Cafe is a small pizza joint on Cambie - for years I've been in the neighbourhood and smelt the oven, but never actually got off my butt and ordered... Until now!!
This is really, really great pizza. It's expensive, don't get me wrong - if you're just looking for a cheap meal then there may be other places that are more your speed. However the delicious crust and ample toppings really give you a unique experience you won't find elsewhere.
They've got a wide selection of ingredients available, everything tastes fresh and that delicious firewood baked crust really just makes a near perfect pizza. Definitely recommended. -

Very good pizza. My only complaint is that one time they delivered us the wrong pizza. When the guy came to give us the proper one he was pissed off. Have never ordered from them again.
Update: The owner/manager emailed me after seeing this review and apologized for and explained the bad service. She offered me a free pizza. I didn't take her up on it. -

I wouldn't order pizza (currently) from anywhere else. Best I've found in a while (for Vancouver, that is). Very fresh, healthy (looking at least!) and quick.

The best pizza I've had delivered in Vancouver yet. Fresh ingredients. More interesting toppings than most places serve up. Well executed. I'm a repeat buyer.

This has become 'the' only pizza place we order from. I love the brick oven taste and their combinations and flavors are varied and mixed. I recommend the Parmagiana.

mmmm...a fresh pizza made just for you in a wood burning oven, is there anything like it? This yummy pizza place uses only the freshest of ingredients like roma tomatoes, mushrooms, fresh basil, spinach and for those who are more omnivorous, there are plenty of meats to choose from as well. The prices are reasonable and the product here is a truly delicious thin-crust pizza.
