Review from mark g.
the room was wonderful, the service and staff were superb, and the food was fantastic.
we expected to be treated well at the fairmont, but the experience at the fairmont vancouver airport is above anything we ever expected at an airport or at a hotel, and is a model for other hotels (fairmont and others) to emulate.
these fine folks set the standard. we love it! -
Review from Gary M.
The Fairmont YVR is one of my favorite airport hotels. What sets this one apart from most others is the service (top notch), the feel (casual luxury) and that it is in the middle of the terminal (not 5 or 10 minutes walk like in some of the bigger airports).
Upon check in I was offered a Gold floor upgrade - yes! The hostess on the gold floor is a real doll. They know how to take care of their guests on this floor. I'm a believer.
I love this place. I am already relaxed for my voyage tomorrow.

Review from Penguin S.
While in high school in the 80s, I trained at the Dallas Fairmont Hotel, one of city's 2 5-star hotels. So I know what the name means.
Just walking down the hallway to my room I realized that I was in a nice hotel that knows what a nice hotel is. And I'm not just talking about quality workmanship and well-appointed rooms. I'm talking atmosphere, attitude and spirit.
I loved the location, just inside the airport. I loved my view of the terminal and the planes. I loved my room, bathroom, bed and chair.
This was a business trip, so I don't know the price of a room here. I'm sure it's not much. But it's a shame it's most likely priced out of the price range of many people who deserve to see how the better half sleep in hotels! -

By far the best airport hotel I know, combined with very fair rates!
The staff is always very professional, the rooms are squeaky clean and comfortable. All facilities top notch. This makes the hotel a first class choice for any sort of layover or even if I have an early departure and like to relax beforehand without the taxi/car service/C-Line stress.
Friends of mine recommended the restaurant as well however I only had room service so far which was perfectly acceptable.
The hotel is directly situated in the Terminal at the US Departures area, a short walk away from the international Check-In Area (in the same terminal).
Should your evening or late night flight have a long departure delay and you are flying First- or Business Class I recommend to ask your airline to give you a hotel voucher for the Fairmont (mostly for delays of 3h+) and most often they will do so. Much better than slumming it at the lounge or the terminal.
Like all Fairmont Hotels they offer free WiFi for Presidents Club members so make sure you sign up beforehand. It's free!
Cheers

When these Canadians build an airport hotel, they don't mess around! This is a beautiful hotel right in the terminal. Yeah, you read that right. You get off the plane and enter a bustling terminal full of confused travelers and a short 5 minute walk later, you are entering another world. From the lobby you can look down and see the mad crush of people, but you can't hear a thing.
I am here for two days of meetings and I am just amazed at what they have pulled off here. Every employee is helpful and friendly and the room itself is beautiful. They upgraded me to a room on the Gold level and there is a lounge just down the hall which serves a very nice full breakfast in the morning and cocktails and food throughout the day, no extra charge.
And for cocktails, I'm not just talking about cheap beer and jug wine. There is a full self-serve bar with top shelf booze that would make any drunk proud. There is even some very lovely single-malt. I've traveled a lot, but I've never seen anything like this.
[Must. Not. Drink. More 18 year old Glenmorangie. Must not. Deep breaths. Meeting in an hour. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!] -

It doesn't get much better than this place. I often will just walk-in and stay in one of their rooms after a long flight, even though I live in Vancouver! Get the rooms with the floor-to-ceiling windows and soaker jacuzzi tubs!

How smart is it to have a hotel right in the Airport? You can check in and run back up and shower and wait till you need to get to the Gate.
I missed my flight back to SF one day. It was about 6am in the morning, extremely tired but the Fairmont rescued me. They had a Signature room for me and once I got in, I just plopped onto that wonderful cloud of a bed.
I just sunk in and fell asleep. The room had high ceiling with ceiling high windows. A view of the runways and you didnt even hear the planes roll by. A nice flat screen with bose steror-cd player~ They also addressed you by Mr. when you called them and was very very service oreintated.
The bathroom was amazing~ I just laid in that tub and just sunk into the warm steaming water. I havent had a bath since I was in 3rd grade. It was just amazing...even had nice robes for you in the bathroom too.
Downstairs you have a nice lounge and bar area with a fireplace. I just sat their drinking my cappuchino next to the fire listening to the Piano. It was a wonderful last night in YVR...so sad to go~ -

I love this hotel. If you can manage to schedule a layover in Vancouver, try your absolute best to stay here. Yes, it's in the airport. Literally, you walk through customs, down the hall and into the ticketing area. The hotel is up the escalator.
The rooms are exquisite. You can see planes taxiing from your window, but you'll never hear them due to soundproof windows. The bathrooms have separate showers and bathtubs--you can have someone come draw your bath for you and provide an in-room massage.
This is the hotel to come to if you plan to stay in--alone or as a romantic liaison. It's a perfect oasis of luxury.Listed in: I Love

This is the first Fairmont I ever stayed at! It's the one that ignited my devotion to all that is "Fairmont".
It all started when I won a free certificate for a night at this Fairmont. Erik and I decided to it would be fun to use for Valentine's day weekend. We drove up north on Friday night, stayed with my parents, then left the next morning to cross the border. On the drive up, we thought we should call and find out about rooms with a jacuzzi. The hotel said that was definitely something we could do and the cost to upgrade would be somewhere between $30 and $50. Since we weren't paying anything anyway, what's $50?
Normally, if you're staying at this location, I'd say you were probably flying in or out of the airport. The hotel is right in the airport! It's pretty awesome. At that time, it had been the only hotel I'd ever seen right in an airport (and really, the only other one I've seen since then was a Hyatt at MCO).
So, we check in and the lady at the front desk sees the notes on our reservation and calls for another staff member to take us on a tour of the rooms we could upgrade too.
The first room was really cool. It was a Signature room. It was a definite upgrade from a regular room - it had a runway view and a jacuzzi in the bathroom with one of those cut-out windows so you could see out the actual window while you were in the jacuzzi (or the tv if you really wanted).
The second room was not as fancy, but it was a Fairmont Gold room. It's the concierge level, so you've got a dedicated concierge, a separate check in/out desk, and a lounge where they serve a continental breakfast, afternoon and evening canapes and free (non-alcoholic) drinks. Oh, and the room had a jacuzzi. And the view was a little bit cooler. So, that's the room we went with. We reasoned that we could make a dinner out of snacks and we wouldn't have to pay for drinks (soda) or breakfast, so why not?
The room even came with a pair of binoculars. That was super rad since our room was RIGHT ON the airport runway! Honest to god, you could look right into the plane from our room with those binoculars! The windows are made from some super heavy duty noise proof windows. Other than the blinking lights on the runway, you'd never know what was right outside your window at night, it was so quiet.
The usual Miller Harris toiletries were provided. The bath gel makes for an AWESOME bubble bath, especially in the jacuzzi. The king size bed is super comfy, I could sleep for many, many days on that bed without feeling the need to get up.
The room comes with a cd player and at the front desk they have cd's you can borrow. I didn't see anything of interest, but we had brought our own music, so we didn't feel the need to get any of the "adult contemporary" discs they had available.
We didn't bring our laptop, but we could have accessed wi-fi at no cost if we had.
Basic cable was offered on the television and also movies to rent at a reasonable cost. We rented "The 40-Year Old Virgin" which was new on dvd at that point, and the cost was less than $10. That's a decent price for a hotel room movie.
Since we were at the airport, we decided to just relax and not go into Vancouver-proper. It would have been about a half hour away or longer if we opted to take the bus and leave our car parked at the airport. The Vancouver airport is set-up that all the shops are located outside the security area, so we weren't stuck with lame options like Burger King and Hudson News. Nope, there were some cool shops, but we weren't there to do any shopping. There was a liquor store - they were even having a liquor tasting! - so we picked up some wine, and made our way back to our room.
We had a great time staying at this hotel and would definitely stay here again. Definitely a nice option if you're flying in or out of the airport, without having to worry about transportation. Heck, if you're flying out of YVR to a warm weather location, you can even store your boots and jacket at the hotel for pick-up upon your return! Because, really, it's such a downer having to take your coat with you to the Caribbean.
If you're driving, parking isn't too expensive. I don't recall the exact dollar amount. It's airport parking fees, but there's a discount when you stay at the hotel. I think it was $11. Valet parking is $25. Unless you need in-and-out privileges, go with the cheaper parking.
I would definitely recommend the Fairmont Vancouver Airport for anyone looking for first class accommodations around the Vancouver airport or even if you're just looking for a fun and different place to stay for a night.Listed in: Need a place to rest your…

Review from Lisa A.
Imagine your road weary flight attendant, after a long duty day serving passengers from Chicago-San Francisco- Vancouver. By the time she has flirted her way through Canadian Customs and Immigration, she is about ready to collapse. The escalator to the hotel beckons, she does not even have to roll her wheelies to the curb and get in a hotel van, in her high heels. She simply stands on the escalator, and is greeted warmly by the reception clerk. They have her room ready, and it's a King, Non-smoking Room, with a Mini Bar!!, Canadian Cable TV, and Awesome toiletries from London. There is a jacuzzi bath tub and separate shower in the bath. The towels are Turkish cotton. There is a coffee maker, and real cream in the mini bar. The Spa offers crew a discount. I have seen my share of dodgy hotels, and I am not easily impressed. This hotel knocked my nylons off! I'd move right in if I could.

North Vancouver, BC
Recently I had a 6 AM flight from YVR. I spent the night before at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport and was very happy with that decision. The hotel is stunning, the rooms and bathrooms spacious and attractive and, best of all, I didn't have to get up at 3 to drive to the airport, park my car and catch a shuttle to the departure area. This hotel is a gem....I only wish I could have stayed longer!

REVIEW OF FAIRMONT RESTAURANT
The view: Exquisite. snow-capped mountains, landing airplanes.
The entertainment: 2-year-old + landing airplanes = HOURS of endless fascination.
The ambiance: Comfy. cool chairs, soft lighting. mellow music.
The drinks: red wine list that hasn't disappointed yet.
The food: O. My. the lamb. the wild salmon. the purple potatoes with ham. the garlic mashed potatoes in a rosemary brown sauce. wow.
Kids menu: complete with crayons.
The service? - a quiet talker who vanished when the bill came..come on, dude, we're at the airport. We gotta catch a plane.
The price: OUCH.
But THE FOOD!!! WOW. You can get this food AT AN AIRPORT? You mean, I don't have to eat plastic-wrapped day-old sandwiches??? Yes, it was damn well worth it.
