Don't let ostensible peace and tranquillity fool you. The Estates of Sunnybrook, or Sunnybrook Estates has seen better days, from an antiquated menu to battle weary foot soldiers of the service industry, the best days of the Estates have come and gone.

With that said, the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. you will feel as if you have been transported from Toronto's urban sprawl to an idyllic English countryside. If your one of the fortunate few you may even see the occasional Fox or fatigued Coyote sprint across the front garden of the Vaughn estate, so don't be camera shy.  For Its truly rare that one is afforded the opportunity to encounter such wildlife in close proximity to Bayview and Eglinton.

For weddings or conferences close to Sunnybrook Hospital, this is an excellent venue. The rooms are varied from small, wooden floors to larger with ante-rooms to serve appetizers and buffet dinners.
I have been here on several occasions, each time to a different building or room. There are several houses on the property, so if you are going, make sure to include accurate directions for your guests.
The food is not very memorable, but decent.
Some of the rooms are starting to look a bit dated or stale. They are kept clean and nice enough, but the floral patterns with contrasting stripes might be off-putting for some.
Also, this place doesn't come cheap. For the North Toronto wedding crowd, definitely check it out. Outdoor areas allow for potential lovely garden weddings.

Specialties

The Estates of Sunnybrook is an unforgettable, full service reception facility, with a long-standing reputation for gourmet cuisine and personalized service. The Estates is made up of three magnificently restored historic homes - McLean House, the Coach House and Vaughan Estate - that can accommodate private parties from 25-150 guests.

History

Established in 1991

The history of McLean House dates back to 1928 when James Stanley McLean, President and founder of Canada Packers, commissioned architects George Moorhouse and King Associates to design a unique home for his family on 50 acres of rolling land. The result was Bay View, now known as McLean House, one of Ontario's most splendid Georgian-style mansions. The fieldstone manor house was embellished with Palladian windows, classic moldings, a grand staircase, high ceilings, and spacious rooms. The acres of gardens were spectacularly landscaped by Gordon Culham, a landscape architect who worked in the grand English country house tradition.
McLean House remained the home of the McLean family until 1966, when the widow of J.S. McLean moved to a smaller home. The University of Toronto took over the property, and it was converted by Sunnybrook Hospital into a clinical facility. In 1982 McLean House was renovated and revitalized by the Junior League of Toronto.
