Oh, Edmonton. You may have your faults, but I truly do love you so very much, and a big reason why is your amazing river valley.
Whether in spring, summer, fall or winter, it's gorgeous. Either blooming flowers, a lush green forest, a sea of orange and gold leaves, or a solid but delicate white mass - I love it in any season.
One of my favourite parts of the river valley is the hundreds of kilometres of trail running along it. Ideal for walking, jogging or biking, especially in warmer weather. If you're up to the challenge, run up the massive stairs on the north side of the river for the ultimate workout.
It's no wonder that so many condos with river valley views have high prices, or that so many festivals happen here over the summer months.
I'm being such a sap right now, but thank you, river valley, for being one of best parts of our city! -

I love Edmonton's River Valley.
We often take it for granted but we are so blessed to have such a huge stretch of wilderness in the heart of our city.
I walk here in the mornings (from snow valley to fox drive) and I always enjoy it. It's the best way to start your day. Whether running, walking, fishing, or exploring, the River Valley has something for everyone.
The best part about our River Valley is the element of escapism that comes with it. When I'm immersed among the trees, bushes, and birds, I feel like I've left Edmonton. The hustle ad bustle of the city doesn't follow you. The air is fresh, the sound of birds and the rush of water over beaver dams drowns out any other noise.
Everyone you encounter on the trails is very friendly too. It's as though we are all sharing a secret. We are all so happy to be where we are at that moment that we can't help but smile at everyone who passes, felling the same thing.
Don't take our River Valley for granted. It's beautiful. Let's keep it that way!
