This is one of the best used bookstores in Edmonton in my opinion. They have an awesome selection of non-fiction books. If you are looking for science books, they have the largest selection. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff is super friendly. Only complaint is I think the prices could be a tad lower, but depending on the condition of the book, they tend to price them fairly. The best thing too is the bookstore sits next to Tim Hortons, so grab a cup of java and give this bookstore a look! Highly recommended.

P.S, the 1 star review by Trent is not fair. I have been a customer at this place for over 2 years and not once have I ever been ripped off. And the reality is the owner can't remember the price of every single book in the store and could of easily made a mistake.

This is a wicked used bookstore originally hailing from the McKernan area and transported to Whyte Avenue. Not only is it crammed full of every kind of book on every kind of subject imaginable. It's like it's Belle's library dream came true in Beauty and the Beast.

The owner here always has an interesting topic or a book recommendation for his customers. He's worth listening to, too, considering the enormous number of books in this little shop. You will almost definitely find a neat text either by exploring yourself or taking one of his suggestions. Books....I love them!

I HAD to write about what I heard today in this store. If my friend didn't hear the same conversation, I would have thought I was hearing things....

So, we were browsing the place, and the owner (I think) walks up to a guy who was looking at some books, and I guess buying some, and with a book in her hand says it's listed for sale on the internet for over $100.
She then offers to sell it to him for $50.
He opens the front cover and say he'd pay the $25 price written in the book...

He did mention a $100 she had on the shelf SOLD for $50 on line, but she didn't go for that deal, ironically....

What kind of place arbitrarily makes up prices?
Or, worse, prices books "according to the internet."?

News flash: The internet prices are for books being OFFERED, NOT what they SOLD for.

    Good luck. You'll need it.

This is by far my favourite used bookstore so far that Iâve come across in the city; and there are quite a few! The have been around for over 30 years, so they get the good stuff (says the owner). But their shelves are stocked with an awesome selection that will keep you puttering in your favourite section for a long time.

Once youâve worked your way through the main room you discover thereâs a whole other room attached, and a back space where they keep erotica, and other stuff. The owner told me they have over 70,000 books in the store with a few thousand in the basement they havenât yet gotten through. I spent over an hour looking through their philosophy and religion sections and walked out with over $70 worth of books. They were all fairly priced and the quality of each book was good. I even found a great Christmas present here, although Iâve never given a recycled gift, it was such a good find I know this person will love it.

Also, the Edmonton Bookstore has great ambiance, besides the fabulous smell of books. They play soft music, thereâs the smell of brewing coffee, and the gentle voice of the British manager whoâs always pondering one topic or another with a visitor or fellow employee. If you love a good used book browse, this is worth a visit.

I never knew this store existed until one fine day I walked into Traveller's Antiques and I was surprised to see that it was no longer there, and the space is now occupied by the Edmonton Book Store. It is my understanding that they have relocated here only recently since the sign outside still reads "Traveller's Antiques".
I will not be giving the Edmonton Book Store a rave review. I will just say that this is a neat place with thousands of books on the shelves. I, as always, was looking for classic books the selection of which turned out to be pretty disappointing. I did locate several Hemingway books as well as interesting books on psychology, all of which I ended up purchasing. While browsing the books, I have noticed that there were lots of books on history, philosophy and geography and not many books that have more mass appeal such as sci-fi, romance, crime and fantasy. The Edmonton Book Store is a more serious place for the lovers of more serious books.
