Review from Amelia R.
Love this place! Great atmosphere. It has a bit of everything. Drinks, food, pool table, sports viewing, bar (counter), table seating w/ captain's chairs, etc. Have always met the best people here.
This summer when I was here, it was during the FIFA World Cup, so the place was PACKED in the middle of the afternoon. But that's OK -- I enjoyed the covered outdoor seating on the little deck I'd never had opportunity to discover before!
Enjoy the Old English/Irish decor and the trademark Newfoundland charm. -

This place was great! A welcoming, classic pub with a decent selection of beers. The gang was pretty friendly and people were coming and going the whole time we were there.
I hear the food is also great, but can't comment. -

This is probably the closest thing we have to a real English pub. It's cozy and can get quite loud during certain sporting events.

Good basic down home pub. Chicken pot pie. Yum.

Lots of beer on tap and the best fish and chips I've had in town so far!

The best pub in St. John's.
If you want live music, go somewhere else. If you want frou-frou drinks, go somewhere else. If you want to drone on at length about how the Duke isn't some pretentious dump in Toronto or Montreal, go somewhere else.
If you want to enjoy a pint or two in the company of real people, then come here. This is as good as it gets, folks. I have yet to find a bar or a pub anywhere else as genuinely good as the Duke. -

Pure awesomeness. If you don't like it we will never be friends.
