This is one of my favoritest places to grab a quick bite, and today I finally tried one of their smoothies.
OH.
MY.
GAH.
I cannot even BEGIN to explain how amazing that smoothie was, it was so amazing that I haven't been able to stop thinking about it all day, and I totally want another one, but it's 11pm and they is closed. Sad face.
A couple of friends and I wanted a healthy breakfast (must be the weather!) and my first thought was The Dish!
I had always wanted to try one of their smoothies, so I got one of the beet, carrot and banana ones. We taste-tested three and mine defs won. Beets are your friend!
I also got a turkey avocado wrap. I usually get the Indonesian Chicken Wrap because I'm a sucka for peanut sauce, but I think it would have been a little too heavy for me first thing in the morning.
The only thing I didn't like about the wrap was that there was a liiittle too much cheese for my liking, and it was kind of goopy. Every time I took a bite, cheese. I don't like to sound like a fussy brat, but it kind of made the wrap a little too salty. Other than that, it was a pretty fierce breakfast!
I've been here many a time for the past couple of years, the staff is always friendly, no matter how swamped they are. It does tend to get very busy and crowded, so if you want to linger over your food, this ain't the place.
It isn't the CLEANEST place (ie. there was a whole carrot just chillin' out by the door..) but if you're making my tastebuds and tummy happy, then I will gladly forgive you. -

The dish is by far my favourite lunch spot!
My old office was right down the street from The Dish so embarrassingly enough I would find myself in there basically everyday. In order to justify eating out to this excess I at least needed it to be healthy and filling, the food at The Dish is both.
They do wrap specials that were/are my go to. Everyday they feature a different one - Turkey Avocado and Brazillian Chicken being my absolutely favs. Tons and tons of veggie options for you guys too. I am a 6 foot tall female and eat everything I can find so if I consider this to be enough for lunch it should basically feed anyone. I've also tried their soups and sandwiches ALL good things to say about them. Took a sick friend the Chicken Noodle one day and it took her right back to Mom's chicken soup growing up - Always good.
Can't say enough positive about the food and customer service. I was doing lunch daily with a large coffee for around $10.
2 Warnings:
- If you try the cookies they have on the counter you will most likely become addicted, just saying.
- The spot is a bit tight and can get busy around popular lunchtime so try to push your visit back to ensure less time in line. Or relax, check out the framed photos, the cheerful turquoise walls and the happy eclectic mix you'll find around you. -

Awwwwwww yeah! This place is my ultimate lunch pop in when I forget lunch and need to feed my face.
I love the staff and the food. The only think knocking it down a star is sometimes the food and place isn't as fresh as I'd want.
I still love it and highly recommend a wrap, the lentil stew or a sandwich and salad. -

When I first started working nearby about 5 years ago, I was brought here by a co-worker and told to order the taco salad. I did, and it was awful - bland and soggy, the kind of lunch that you want to stop eating, but you're hungry and don't want to be rude so you keep choking it down. I proceeded to avoid this place for many years, until a craving for an uber-healthy lunch brought me back about a year ago for a second chance; it has since returned to my list of decent/good-enough Davie street eateries.
Some items on the menu are still not very good, but the roasted veggie wrap is scrumdillycious (if that's a word) and their borscht is solid - not as good as mine, but mine is a hell of a lot more work. The soup changes daily, but their mainstays re-appear often.
The place has a bit of a cafeteria-like ambiance and staff aren't exactly rude, but rarely are they pleasant. Not a bad choice if you're looking for a light, healthy lunch...though Nuba is far superior and not too far away.
ps - This place is definitely veggie-friendly, but they do serve meat! -

The delicious dish! (Does anybody remember that SNL skit with Alec Baldwin and his schweaty balls?) Anyways, I heard the Dish had some decent veggie options, so I figured we'd check it out. The place was pretty much empty when we showed up, and the music selection was terrible, it was some god-awful hip hop R Kelly bullshit. I don't give a shit if you can fly buddy, just find another creative outlet that doesn't involve me having to listen to your emasculating voice.
The BF and I both had smoothies which were fresh and yummy, I had a small strawberry, banana and orange one, and he had a large one with beets and gross shit in it. He liked his, I like mine, now we have a place to go to get a good smoothie that's close to home. Cool!
For dinner we both ordered the taco salad, which came with a tortilla shell and veggie chilli, lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream in it. There wasn't really anything Mexican about it, but it tasted pretty good, and was deceptively filling. I couldn't finish mine, whereas the BF was already breaking his tortilla bowl apart and chowing down.
I thought the cost was a little pricey, it was about $13 or $14 for what I ordered, and it wasn't really that extravagant. I mean, I could have just made that at home for like one third of the price, but I guess that's the cost of having someone else do your dishes and clean up your mess. I might be back for the veggie lasagna, and possibly breakfast, but I guarantee I will be back for a smoothie soon.Listed in: Vancouver Vege-me-tarian.

The food is alright, but not good enough for the price.
The food is real, that I cannot deny!
The word that I feel sums this place up the best is "ho-hum" though. Sadly, I know. When I first came here, I was excited to find a "healthy" place to eat, being a college student with not too much time on my hands.
Their black bean tortilla soup is very well done; in my opinion it's one of their better things on the menu.
Their lentil and vegetable curry is bland at best. Served atop steamed, unseasoned short grain brown rice that tastes exactly like how I make it at home, the "curry" lacks any real spice and just kind of tastes like slop. Healthy slop, but slop it inevitably is, in my opinion.
Their pressed juices are delicious, but too expensive to get often.
The oatmeal isn't bad, but for $3.25 I could make about twenty bowls of oatmeal at home.
I have not had the wraps, but when asked, my boyfriend, who has had two (a potato curry kind and some other kind) said they were filling but bland.
The egg salsa breakfast wrap made him ill the rest of the day.
I held hope for this place for a long while, but I think I have to inevitably give up now. Sorry, Dish. You have plenty of other fans, though! -

The room is plain, and really more for takeout, or when you in need of a quick health bite. Food is super fresh, healthy and tastes like homemade. Extensive menu, lots of vegetarian options, great juices.
Can't beat the prices in comparison to similar places that serve over-priced smoothies and sandwiches. This definitely caters to those that eat out all the time like me, and sometimes you just need some whole, good for you food! -

the salad and rice pot makes my body and mouth sing. very fresh and crunchy salad veggies and perfectly cooked brown rice.
I get it with the chicken add-on. costs about $8. I ask them for half pesto, half sundried tomato hummus to use as dressing. NOM. the bowl doesn't look that large but it's full to the brim. it's a lot of food. I overeat instead of taking it home because it's so fresh and tasty!
they're really nice and accommodating, and can work around allergies. my partner isn't a huge fan of this place but i couldn't like it more.
very casual, not meant for lingering eating area. think IKEA inspired mid-90s. -

We were here for brunch at around 1pm. I had the egg dish and was very unsatisfying... The eggs were microwaved and runny while the side potatoes were rock hard. Never will be back for brunch... A shame. Seems like a nice place!

This place always has good vegetarian options but at the same time when I go out I want a restaurant experience not a prep line like at subway. A lot of the food I can make myself so it's nice not to cook but at the same time you usually want to get a meal that you typically don't prepare easily. Also the music is terrible in there and the ambiance needs to be rethought. Otherwise it's a nice little locale and it always has something on special that is yummy. If you do decide to try them I would go for breakfast. Their breakfast burrito is very yummy.

Yummm! This little restaurant's tag line is "Real Good Food for People in a Hurry". And it's true. The food is really good, and it is real. In other words, everything here is wholesome goodness from the vegetable and lentil stew to the fresh fruit salad, it's all delicious and nutricious and, yes, it is fast. They make up some really good smoothies, and though I've never eaten breakfast here, the menu looks outright impressive with items like muesli with apples, cinnamon and yogurt or the Tijuana egg wrap with fresh salsa, cheese and sour cream. Perhaps best of all, the prices are exceptionally reasonable...hurray for fast food that actually is tasty and good for you!

i like the dish, the specials are good especially the turkey meatloaf with baked fries and gravy ... the staff is not the friendliest (i base that on the last two and half years i have been going there) ... there seems to be some issue with getting the taco salad to go, every time i have to debate it ?!?! the fruit salad with yogurt and bananas is yummy ... the portions are not the biggest but still filling ...
