I am so thankful for Yelp for tipping me off to The Daily Grind. A darling mismatched Licensed dining room, a simple but delicious menu (I had the vegetarian quesadilla), and whip-quick wi-fi. What a perfect spot to get some work done!

The washrooms are upstairs and if you have a sec, so is a little shoppe that sells some jewelry and crafts. According to the owner, they also have live music nights.

It's bright and cheery and a good choice for letting a work day afternoon fly by.

Get the green iced tea. It's housemade and fantastic!

Stopped in here last night with a few friends for coffee and drinks (yes, they are licensed!). The staff was very friendly, and attentive without being overbearing.

We took advantage of the large tables to work on crafting projects and catch up. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. As the owners offer art classes, the tables have some pencils and crayons in the middle of the table - which turned out to be pretty handy.

The coffee is pretty great - I am a fan of the dark roast.

Executive Summary: Another solid coffee place in Centertown(ish); kid friendly, portion controlled treats!

Taking full advantage of paternity leave, I stopped in here with a group of parents for a mid-day coffee.  The staff were super friendly and open to people being there with kids - they have colouring areas for older kids and they let us clog the place up but good with strollers and various other baby paraphernalia.  They also set up a make-shift changing area in a storage room upstairs as the bathrooms lacked change tables.  All and all, I'd rate them 'ultra' baby friendly.

My latte was fine, nothing out of the ordinary, and I didn't have any hot food though the sandwiches looked good.  They had a wide selection of desserts and, to my delight, a good number of 'micro' items - really tiny cupcakes or tarts and the like.  I enjoy these as I feel slightly less obese when ordering them then, say, when I get a huge muffin all to myself.  Suffice it to say, my mini-chocolate cupcake really hit the spot.

This place has it all -- caffeine, ambiance, character and booze all rolled up into one. But hold the gluten (all desserts are gluten free)! I really dig the old pews that they use as cafe booths, and the woody-dim atmosphere makes me think I'm actually at a Queen St. coffee house in Toronto (only to be disappointed when I walk outside, sorry Ottawa). A great place to bring your laptop and peck away at your thesis, or paper, or whatever you're working on.

This was a very bad experience. When for brunch and had horrible service and after 45 minutes i checked with the kitchen re the delay (we had a 1 year old with us) and were told that if we did not like the place then we should leave. Having had 2 coffee (which while slow were good) I asked how much the bill was and was told we would have to pay for the orders (which had not even been started!). We (group of 4 + child) protested and as they slung down a badly cooked scrambled egg and one slice of orange the change to say we owed for the coffees and the egg ($9.61 in total) At the cash the server started to berate me on our attitude and that we "did not get the place". We also notice another table complaining about the service and they left also. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS RESTAURANT.

Just recently stopped by to say hello to my friend, left with an addiction to their Mexican hot chocolate!

Nice to see another cafe option on Somerset. Food and coffee are good but the sandwiches are a bit small for the price. I suppose if you camp out there long enough you'll get your money's worth though. Friendly service.
