I love this place for a number of reasons. It's small. The decor is eclectic, the crowd is mixed, and the DJ is excellent. The bar staff are really friendly, and, lastly, it's really close to my place. What more could a girl ask for?
Well.. Maybe I don't LOVE it that much. The journey to the bathrooms is a bit perilous. However, I do enjoy a good time, and each occasion, this place delivers. Go with friends. Go in jeans. Go tonight. -

The Curzon is a great spot for a drink. It is well furnished and clean. The service is good. Prices change depending on the events on TV.
*** DRINKS ***
I had a pint of Okanagan Spring 1516 Bavarian Lager and it was good; not watered down. The beer selection is not extensive.
*** SERVICE ***
There was just one bartender working the bar but there wasn't much clientele either. The bartender told us that he was setting up for a private function and put "Reserved" signs on our seating area. The bartender was friendly but not very sociable. However, I wasn't there to talk to him.
*** ATMOSPHERE ***
The bar is dark and is decorated like an old house. The furniture is comfortable since most have cushions. The tables are mostly coffee tables. The bar is clean. Curzon has a relaxed feel, but when a game is on, it can be exciting.
*** PRICE ***
Pricing for a pint is typical, but being disqualified from a $10 pitcher because of a Leaf's game does suck.
* Okanagan Spring 1516 Bavarian Lager [after tax] | $7 *
*** EXPERIENCE ***
The Curzon is a nice bar to sit and have a drink while talking or watching a game. It doesn't stand out as being particularly better than other bars, but it is a good bar. The pricing is good but they should still honour their specials regardless of sporting events, especially when there's not a lot of people in the bar. The Curzon is clean, has a nice decor and is worth paying a visit.Listed in: Noise 'n Poison

The Curzon is a nice neighbourhood watering hole.
The mismatching sofas, armchairs and couches does looks welcoming and cozy.
Came in on a Saturday night while the Leafs game was on, bartender unfortunately said that daily Happy Hour specials won't be available!! Stupid Hockey game!! I want to have my $6 Martini!
Beers on draft though limited but for $6 is A-OK.
Unfortunately, we ended up cannot enjoy our comfy sofa for long as the bartender announced that a big group would be arriving with reservations at 8 pm...... Boo...
Luckily, Leslieville does have a lot of other options!! NEXT.... -

Had a fantastic time! What a great crowd, a dj who knows how to make people move and groove...and great service! This place will fit nicely into my social repertoire :)

The crowd is a mixed bag here; hip Leslieville folks, local lesbians, and wandering Yelpers but the bartenders are consistently hot.
Park yourself on the vintagey furniture and if you come on a Friday night, you can get mixed drinks for $4.50 till 11 p.m. (Double check this as it might've changed.)
They also have a patio.Listed in: Liquor Up for Less

The positives:
Good service, good food.
Nice patio in the summer.
They show some sports during the week.
The negatives:
Too loud to carry a conversation on weekend nights
Limited food on the menu (but what's there is good)
Seeing the server pet someone's dog in the bar right before serving your food is a turn off. -

This is pretty much my new local.
I've come here almost a dozen times in the past few months and it's consistently been a solid good time. The decor and mood are sexy, vintage/preloved and old-timey, with those plush velvet couches that have "button dimpling" accents and regal armrests. There are chandeliers and soft candle lighting at the tables.
The seating is ample, with proper tables, coffee tables and seats at the bar, so take your pick, although the regular crew of regulars may have beat you to the prime spots surrounding the bar.
Every time I've come here the vibe has been welcoming and unpretentious. You get the feeling that people here appreciate a quiet, relaxed, non-douchey atmosphere with really great music unobtrusively playing in the background. I've heard Massive Attack, Portishead, Beck and lots of other favourites here.
One of the guys working the bar is a dead ringer for Jeremy Sisto (Billy from Six Feet Under: http://www.notas.com/J...), but was decked out like a member of Run-D.M.C., no joke. I dig. Last night when I stopped by, another bartender (Joe) happily charged my iPhone behind the bar while I sipped on my tumbler of Pinot Grigio. I can't say this kind of generosity is a common occurrence at other bars.
They have DJs on some nights and I also learned last night that they do karaoke (Sundays!). And have a full menu for finger type bar foods like potato skins, chicken wings (ahem: a visit from wing aficionado Sarah L is required!!), hummus and chips and sweet potato fries.
See you soon (tonight??)!Listed in: The Best Places To Eat, Shop &…

I had a great night here and would go back anytime. A couple friends invited us, and they knew a few people, who knew a few people so it seemed like everyone in the place was my buddy somehow (I could've just been drunk though).
The place was super busy the Friday I went but never seemed too crowded or nuts. The flow was good with a few places to sit and chill or a long table to stand at with your drinks. A few people were dancing while the DJ spun old tracks mixed up with modern beats.
All-in-all a good crowd and a smooth night. Was pleased when the bartender, who was friendly and could usually recall what I was drinking, reminded me to check my tab since I'd let a few too many people add their drinks to it. The girl behind the bar wasn't quite as good but I'd say it's better strategy to hit up the opposite sex for your order anyway.Listed in: Finding My Happy Place

This is a great little place to have some drinks with friends. The place was packed and they had a live dj (though he was kind of stuck in a corner being crowded out by patrons) who played some good music.
Now I just need to go back to try the food! -

I came here with a few friends during the holidays.
My only big complaint -- and its a big one -- is the bartender situation. The girl behind the bar didn't know the first thing about making drinks. She didn't even know what Tanqueray was. WTF. When I explained to her how to make a gin and tonic, she put in a 1/2 oz of gin and a ton of tonic. So lame. She swore to me it wasn't her first day on the job -- yah right.
As far as the music was concerned, it wasn't too bad. There seemed to be a random dude who would play tunes of his iPod and the volume kept changing.
All in all, not a bad spot. It just needs to get its act together. -

This place is not an Irish pub, English pub, or a good old neighborhood watering hole......what took so long?! Leslieville needs more places like this!!! They have a big patio In the back that's good for chatting up drunk strangers and rumour has it they sell food now.
The guy bartender is good, he's super mellow and doesn't openly judge pissed idiots. Prompt service may test your patience at times but if you make yourself seen you'll be ok.
Good music, good times! I don't know if this means anything but I saw Strombo there once.
Go to there. Be prepared to stay until closing. -

JJ (bartender) is the man.
The east side patio is open now.
Food is alright for snacks and appetizers...wouldn't eat a meal here. -

It's only been about a week since this place ("finally" as they themselves acknowledge on their website) opened, so this could easily warrant a follow up review, but I did go there within the first couple days. It was empty and people started to trickle in after about a half hour to 45 minutes.
Didnt stop my wife and i from ordering 4 shots of tequila and 4 beers and chatting it up with the bartender, who kind of looks like he could be an action hero straight out from lock stock and two smoking barrels or something. apparently it took them forever to get a liquor licence and they are working on cracking the patio for next summer. Not such an easy feat, as they have to get proper signatures from their local neighbours.
I think though, that it is bound to happen and three cheers for that because it will surely be packed when the weather is nice. As it stands presently, one gets the feeling that they are lounging in an old, seasoned hotel bar or saloon even. Theyve got the lights turned down real low and original large tin ceiling tiles hung on a few walls as bulletproof wallpaper. the wall that is left is papered as though it could belong in an old new york tenement building or at your grandmother's first apartment when she moved to toronto way back when. this perhaps is what really cinches the saloon feel for me.
we sit comfortably on a couch, sinking back and resting our beers on the coffee table below, that once surely was used to serve tea, perhaps coffee but likely never beer. Every piece here (and here, every chair and couch is a "piece") is vintage and in great condition.
The only thing that puts a damper on it for me, is the widescreen tv above the bar. totally not necessary and more nuisance than anything.
They have beer like Blanche Du Chamblis on tap and Stiegel in a can. Dont ever feel, if you ever do, like you have to wear anything in particular here, its very homey and currently unpretentious, but they also dont have an established clientele yet. But my guess from what ive seen so far is that itll be an older one, late twenties and up perhaps; and the post restaurant crowd in the area.
i look forward to my return. -

This is a great little neighborhood bar! I stopped in for one drink and ended up spending the rest of the night there. Quiet and low-key, good drinks, with good music and friendly bartenders, a few regulars. There's a small bar and a few tables with couches and comfortable chairs. Good place to have a few drinks and catch up with friends and now one of my favorite spots in Toronto.
