I was drawn to this place by the notion of a 5$ breakfast so my standards were not particularly high.  I was fairly surprised that they served Poached Eggs with Hollandaise sauce for such a low price (Egg Florentine, Eggs Benedict, etc..)

I tried out their Egg Sammy because I love Smoked Salmon. It was actually fairly good for what it was; adequate slices of smoked salmon in between a grilled english muffin and a poached egg topped with a hollandaise sauce.  The salmon was good actually;  a good texture and good flavor.  The english muffin was a bit burnt, but the eggs were well-cooked.  The thing that really ruined the experience for me was the fact that the service was so slow, that it affected the food.  When I got my food, it was already on its way to being cold.  Personally, I don't believe food should ever be cold, unless it is suppose to be, and this is definitely not one of those cases.  The cream cheese got so cold that it started drying up.  Cold food is big deal for me and completely unacceptable.

I will probably come back here again, with hopefully more attentive service (plus the food was REALLY cheap).  Also, hopefully I will not get a wobbly table this time that will spill coffee on my lap.

Okay, I see that many here are talking about the food, which I didn't experience while I was there.... but still, just strictly speaking as a bar, I'm a BIG fan.

First and foremost, any bar that offers a comedy night is tops in my book. I find this is a grossly under-appreciated form of entertainment that most people spend far too much of their lives ignoring, and the shows put on in this place (at least from the couple I saw while in from out of town) hosted some of the top talent in the country in a close, intimate atmosphere that's hard to find anywhere else (and believe me, I've tried.)

The staff were very friendly and attentive, the bartending was top notch, I loved the overall style and feel of this place, and (second only to the comedy night in my "reasons to love this place) the music selection was AWESOME! I can't even remember the last time I was able to sit in a bar for 2-3 hours and not hear a single bad song. I was hearing stuff I loved from the top of the current charts to things I had nearly forgottetn about from decades past, the only thing they all had in common was they were AWESOME.

I haven't tried the food so by all means, take what you can from other people's reviews in that regard... but if you're just looking for a place to go grab some drinks, or some good entertainment (maybe call and ask them when the comedy night is cause I can't remember), I would definitely suggest at least checking it out.

A pub that looks like a pub, that sounds (musically) like a pub and serves alcohol like a pub; but with an added bonus that I don't know if many have picked up on.  It is a BRAZILIAN RESTAURANT, and one that does Brazilian food in a way that they should be very proud of for a pub on the corner.

Why anyone would order nachos when you can have dishes such as Feijoada, is beyond me!.

Feijoada (warning food porn behind link.  Not safe for work unless you want to be drooling on your desk....)
    http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

Feijoada is considered by many to be Brazil's national dish.  A pork and bean stew, served over rice with a side of greens.  In this case kale.  OMan I love kale.  Sides included salsa and farofa, which is roasted coarse cassava (manioc) flour.  It was so good and reminded my honey so much of his childhood that I'm scared to go home today in case he's converted our apartment to mill to make manioc flour.

(Cue to visions of a Guyanese/Scottish/Canadian guy dancing around apartment, grinding cassava and Flashdance song playing.  "He's a manioc, manioc, with the flour...")

Sorry, I think I ingested some lead paint recently and it's making me a little batty... ANYWAY.

The stew was divine.  As honey was pouring it over the rice for me to take the photo he was proclaiming "THIS IS INSANE!!!"  I thought at first he was talking about my penchant for food photography but it soon became apparent that he was talking about how good the food looked and smelled and once he tasted it he continued to mumble "THIS is INSANE!!!!"

We also had some ginger beer.  Really good and really potent.  I had the chicken caesar and as much of my honey's feijoada as I could steal, and then coffee.

Service was decent and friendly.  We'd originally come for a meeting with a group, so the space is available for groups. They were kind enough to turn down the tv in our area while we met and the musicians didn't set up to play until we were done around 9pm.   YAY.

Go get some feijoada and some farofa...... agora mesmo!

First and last time we will come here. There is a reason they offer a $5 brunch. Food is good for the price too much garlic in the home fries, comfy place. The waitress seems too hate her job and it shows. Grumpy  bad attitude waited 45 min for a coffee refill. We will gladly spend more for good service better food.

This was the worst service i've ever had, hands down. Went for $5.00 brunch this morning, (Sunday) and there was only one table of people that were all eating their food. Being the only other table, we figured our service would be prompt and good. The girl took forever to take our drink orders, was rude. and took forever to take our food orders. The restaurant then filled up and every single other table received their food before ours. Over 15 people received there meals and over an hour later, we'd still received nothing. We complained to the waitress who mentioned they were having trouble cooking the salmon. She provided no apology or time frame for our food to come out, therefore we left. We will never go back to this restaurant. I'm shocked and appalled that this place is even a functioning pub.

Desperate to catch the last few minutes of the playoff game, we came into
this lesser-known spot hoping to score a table - and although it was very busy, we were in luck! This place is right beside (or even a part of,
depending on who you ask) trendy Yaletown, but is very casual and
reasonably priced. The service was good and friendly, there are plenty of TVs to catch the game, and the crowd was a lot of fun. The white sangria
was surprisingly good, and came with a decent amount of actual fruit in
the drink. I would definitely come back for another game, particularly as
it will be very busy but perhaps not as impossible to get seated in as
    other places in the neighbourhood.

Three of us were walking by and decided to try someplace different so we walked into The Corner. We got a table not very far from the bar and it was not busy at all. We waited about 10 minutes for the server to acknowledge that we were there and then about 10 more minutes to get a round. As my glass was getting empty the waitress walked past 4 or 5 times, about 40 minutes later she came by to ask if we wanted another round. We decided just to pay up and leave. The bill took another 10 minutes to arrive.

Slow and not friendly service on a slow day means I am not going back. Hopefully it stays that slow and something new opens there cause it is a nice location.

If you're looking for a cheap Sunday Brunch in downtown Vancouver in a chill pub environment, enjoy the $5 Brunch Special at The Corner on Seymour & Davie. Very mediocre food and service, but for the price, it's a-okay!

$5 Corner Classic: two eggs any style with bacon or sausage, served with multigrain toast, butter/jam on the side - eggs were sticky and tasted funny, potatos were good, sausage was meh. I had a weird greasy, tangy aftertaste lingering in my mouth.

$5 Classic Benedict: two poached eggs, ham, served on an English muffin topped with house made hollandaise - yolky eggs, well-worth it!

    - $5 Sunday Brunch. Choose from 6-8 menu options
    - $6 Double Caesars on Sundays
    - $19 Pitcher & Nachos on Canucks game nights

Would recommend the $6 Brunch at Bonchaz Cafe over this one, but you get way more selection here. And again, for the price point, it's hands down better than say, McD's!

I spent the most time at this bar then anywhere else while I was in Vancouver.

The staff are awesome (Mike and Taryn I think, and then the owner's son?)

Their eggnog and rum drink was good, and beer selection was decent.

I never ordered food, so this is just based on booze.

I did come on a night they had a comedian and man, he was bad. So very, very bad.

I'll definitely come back when I'm in town again, the staff make the trek worth it :)

I was in Vancouver last month to take some exams, and bonus - it was hockey playoffs!  (And the Canucks were still playing well!  Sorry Canucks...)

My boyfriend and I wanted to find somewhere to go watch the Western Conference Finals.  We called lots of places around the city to make a reservation.  Nope, no reservations tonight. There's a game! Are you crazy?

We walked aimlessly around the Granville District until we stumbled upon this place.   "Any tables?," I asked sheepishly, expecting the answer to be another "Nope, sorry" that really meant "Are you kidding?!"   Absolutely, come on in!   So exciting.

Great service, great poutine, good beer specials, lots of TVs to watch the game, clean bathrooms.  And, they do this cute thing where they write the name of a Canuck down on a card on your table, and if that Canuck scores, shots on the house!    The table next to ours actually made out on that one.

I'd give them 5 stars, but - and this is really nitpicky - their nachos were not good.  I really, really wanted nachos.  A big, delicious looking plate of nachos were brought to me.  They were dry and did not come with nearly enough salsa or guacamole...  However, this was a really minor point in an otherwise great experience.

And hey, Vancouver did win the Conference that night, so all in all, I will remember it fondly :)

Worst bar I've ever been to. Lackluster service, overpriced food and drink, HORRIBLE food.

We ordered a plate of nachos to share between 4 people and what we got was pathetic. The chips and cheese were microwaved (though the menu says baked) and raw onions and cold raw tomatoes are thrown on top. Not to mention the amount was more like a 1-2 person serving (I'll post a pic).

Our server agreed with us and brought them back to the kitchen, who brought back basically the exact same thing 4 minutes later. Our server could see we weren't happy so she avoided our table like the plague. I finally found her across the restaurant 10 minutes later and she told me the manager would be by shortly to see us. When he finally showed and asked us what the problem was we simply pointed at the nachos, he agreed they were horrible and offered to bring us yet another plate. Suffice to say we declined and ask he remove them from both the table and bill.

The kicker... The bill arrives at the table with a 18% gratuity! Yeah, we definitely didn't pay that.

Avoid this place, if this review isn't enough to deter you check out the 9/10 horrible reviews on google.

I came on Wednesday, it was the first day of it's re-opening.

The doors were open but we weren't sure if the place was up and running yet. Everyone seemed confused but we got good service anyway. We just wanted drinks, so I can't report on the food...

They had $3 Appeltinis on Thursday, so we ordered a few of those. They tasted pretty good, no complaints.

Our service was good despite how flustered everyone was. They should have been more organized, but I don't have any real complaints.

I live right down the street and never come in because it is always dead and figure that Vancouverites know their food and bevies so there must be a reason. We decided to give this bar a try tonight  because the game was on and it is so close to home but after this visit we will NEVER be back!!! The server (long haired brunette) spent most of the night sitting with her friends and even served their food first even though they got to the bar long after us. We had the nachos figuring that it would be hard to screw them up...I was very wrong!!! They were a flat, small plate of tasteless, greasy chips with 2 basic toppings missed (Tomatoes & Jalapenos)...Our prediction is this bar will be closed before too long...all the people I know in the area are aching for a fantastic local bar (since the Trap left that location) and they have NOT found it with the way the current Corner is being run!!!! They have lost more potential customers and our word of mouth travels far!!!! They should Fire their servers, fire their cook, revamp your bar NOW or we know it will be gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that I can't actually say if the food or drink is good at The Corner because I haven't been there - but not for trying!!  They have a large banner on the outside of the pub promoting their meals and one of them is a $5 breakfast (plus tax). This sounded great. I checked their website and there was no mention of the breakfast but since they had the banner I figured that was good enough. I organized to meet some friends at 10am on a Sunday morning. I arrive first and open the door. There was staff at the bar & the bar stools were still on the bar. The woman informed me that they were not open until 11am. I told her that I was here for the breakfast they advertised. She told me that it was only Mon-Fri. WHAT???? Nowhere on their banner did it state that or on their website. I told her this and that I was meeting several friends there for breakfast. She apologized and said she'd pass it onto the manager. Needless to say we had to make alternate plans.
I was very annoyed.  If a restaurant is going to advertise such specials they do need to make it clear if it is not always offered in my opinion.
Since I can not comment on the breakfast at The Corner I opted to give it 2 stars instead of 1. I don't know if I'll go back there or not. I do believe service is important as well as informative advertising.

I would love to give the former home of The Atlantic Tap & Gill a better review, I really would. Prime location, the perfect spot for a bar. It was a disappointment. It has the potential to be a great little bar, a place that you could call home and sell your liver to, but it is not. They have taken advantage of being close the friendly and affordable drinking void called the "Granville Entertainment District" . So what you get is ok food, expensive booze. The only reason I am giving two stars is the bar staff was great, friendly and quick. The downside of sitting at the bar, you seem to be a interruption to friends of the owners and the hangers on. We need desperately  non corp watering hole in this town.  I am sending The Corner to the corner for a time out, til it becomes a well behaved little bar.

Fairly priced as bars in Vancouver go (all expensive), this bar has live music and live comedy sometimes and good music the rest of the time.  The bartenders and waitstaff are super friendly--they even accommodated my special request to have an entire pitcher of their holiday special--spiced rum eggnog.  Which was delicious!  There is only a little bit of bar space and pretty decent seated space, as well as another full bar downstairs that I think opens up for special events.  On the weekends we stayed as late as we wanted, though when we went back on Monday we got shooed out basically when it got late.  Not sure what the food is like but the drinks, staff, and atmosphere are fun!

Ordered 3 dollar martini.  Tasted zero booze.  Felt lied to and shameful for tipping.  Owner stood at the end of the bar, kind of a killjoy.  Think the bartender was his son.  Wouldn't go out of my wy to land at The Corner.
