Reading Louise G's recent St. John's review (http://www.yelp.ca/use...), I remembered the last (and only) time I was in St. John's.
Because of a variety of reasons I was on a long trip and was traveling with a checked bag (very unusual for me), and the "wonderful" Air Canada service lost the bag telling me that it wouldn't arrive until 1-2 days later. Ugh.
Compound that with the fact that even though it was June there was an iceberg floating by, and brilliant me had packed my warmer clothing in the checked bag. Brilliant, eh?
Air Canada agreed to pay for a sweater, and then I went on the hunt for a nice aran sweater to keep me warm while watching the iceberg float by, as I had heard there were good ones to be had in St. John's.
Everyone I spoke to recommended visiting the Cod Jigger. They had a beautiful selection of handmade aran sweaters, and the little old Grandma like ladies with their almost Irish accent so common in New Foundland were so nice and helpful and found me TWO of their sweaters for the price Air Canada had agreed to pay. Lovely.
I still have those sweaters so many years later, and remember how kind the two ladies were in keeping me warm when Air Canada left me out in the cold. Thank you!Listed in: Travel is the spice of life
