Review from Laura P.
Conveniently situated along the downtown strip of second hand clothing shops, The Clothes Horse is a no brainer. I always enjoy popping in for a look through when I'm out and about, as its always fully stocked with a churning selection of clothing, shoes and accessories.
The ideal customer may lean towards a more matured and understated style, however I typically find a few pieces that truly strike my fancy. Although I haven't exactly had as much luck to make a finalized purchase, I'll continue to browse this cosy shop with admiration.
The music is usually something a bit different and interesting. And combined with the store's eclectic variety, it all just makes for an unique shopping experience. Staff seems quiet but warm. Shoppers are allowed to do their own thing until requiring further assistance... which is a nice change from the usual.
I'd encourage any clothes junkie to pop in for a look. There's always new stock coming in and this place never gets boring. Just a treasure away...Listed in: Well Dressed

Now this is a consignment store that I would go back to or at least make an effort to visit often. Located on Queen street just off of Spring Garden Road there is a few consignment locations. Walking up the stairs you can start to see that this place is all about. Small, quaint and very unique you can find some really interesting thing here.
There was a smoking pair of boots black high and HOT but they were a size 7, not going to work. One thing that really drives me is that the sizes are so small and I know it is not there issue but they should at least take into consideration the average size is 14
In the back of the location is a Men's section that has some nice men's shoes and shirt all a good prices.
I will be back to this location to so some more shopping. -

The Clothes Horse is a charming little boutique on consignment row just off of Spring Garden in downtown Halifax. The woman who owns the shop seems pleasant and hard at work, always preparing new merchandise for the shelves whenever I've visited.
This shop has some lovely items, and tends towards a classier, perhaps more conservative approach than some of the surrounding stores. I like perusing the jewelry and am always a fan of sussing out cashmere sweaters wherever I go.
The space is bright and airy, creating a lovely browsing or shopping experience. I recommend venturing into this little boutique. The merchandise is often rotating and you never know what you'll come across. My theory with used clothing stores is: If at first you don't succeed, try - try again. Persistence is the key to success when shopping at consignment/vintage shops, so persevere and return until like a lightning bolt, you're struck by the item of your dreams.Listed in: Damn, I Look Good

Located next to Elsie's Vintage Clothing is the Clothes Horse. While both stores offer vintage and used clothing, the Clothes Horse seems to be oriented towards a more older crowd, for women 40 years and up.
I can honestly say that there was nothing in the store of interest to me, the selection was limited, and for used clothing everything seemed a little over priced.
The staff however, were incredibly friendly and I did manage to find a great $10 rack, but don't see myself returning there for at least a few years time... -

The Clothes Horse was somewhat of a disappointment. I will be honest, I do not go into these places a lot , but Queen St. seems to have a row of them, so you go out of one and fall into another.
There was not much here that caught my eye, maybe there was a huge rush or something and everything good was gone. But to be fair, these places are a hit and miss. It is the nature of the business. I can say the staff at these places is always friendly. -

The Clothes Horse was pretty picked over when I was in earlier today. Very little actually struck me as something I'd even be interested in taking 2 steps to walk over and pick up, let alone buy. Consignment shops are going to have to work a tad harder in these troubled times to get people in and buying their wares. A lot of the clothing in this shop seemed to be geared towards older ladies as well. I don't tend to see a lot of older ladies in consignment shops though, so maybe it's time for a revamp, eh 'Clothes Horse?'

The tidy little shop is one of four or five in the little "vintage row" that is upper Queen Street. The Clothes Horse does ladies clothes only, and I would say the target customer is probably a conservatively dressed woman in her 30s and beyond (undercutting those other reviews by a decade). But I am only 24 and I bought three lovely items on my last visit, so don't be discouraged if you're not the "target customer".
If you were discouraged by this, you would be passing by some great deals - nearly everything in the store was marked down when I was in there, and I got a great deal on a hand-knit toque, striped cotton jumper and a woven wool scarf. The woman assisting me, who I assume is the owner, was very helpful and easy going. There were two other women browsing with me in the shop and she set things aside for one of them to come back and try on later; so accommodating. As I prepared to pay for my finds, I noticed - be still, my heart! - a huge basket of assorted buttons sitting under a table near the front window. This is huge, people, as it's really difficult to buy buttons in Halifax. Crafters rejoice! I remarked about them and started digging through, and seeing my enthusiasm she shared a secret: she's got high-end buttons galore as well; you've just got to ask to see them. I will definitely remember this the next time I have a project that demands buttons.
