This is the first of the two sister restaurants that I ventured into.  The Citizen, the furthest from my home compared to Rosebud  (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) which is around the corner from my place, is worth the streetcar ride down Queen Street to get to.  My introduction with The Citizen began with a quick trip inside while waiting for friends of mine to hit Queen and Broadview for dinner.  The first thing you're hit with is a throwback into the time of art-deco and old-time supper clubs.  You expect every diner in the place to look like they just got off the set of "Mad Men".

There's a small lounge and bar at the front of the restaurant with a larger dining space at the rear.  The place reeks of class and I could not in any way bring myself to order anything that didn't fit in with the decor.  So, a whisky sour at the bar while waiting.

You'd do well to peruse the menu frequently as I'm told the chef changes it up based on what comes in season, providing freshness of food and above all flavour.  This coupled with the décor and the cosiness, you'll like.
