Review from Murray W.
You wouldn't think that dropping a friend off at the airport would be that exciting, unless that person wasn't really a friend and you were just glad to get them out of the country. This wasn't the case however, as I was eager to try something I'd never had before...The Chickenburger!
A fixture of Bedford that is older than both of my parents and likely most of the rest of Bedford, the Chickenburger franchise at the airport obviously can't have the full experience of the atmosphere of the original, but the counter area certainly tries to replicate it and definitely has more character than the nameless restaurant that was there before it.
While it doesn't have all the character, it does have the food....and the occasional bird flying above your head. Fortunately, this is what I'm really after (the food, not the birds), and after seeing my friend off to travel to warmer climes, I had to indulge. The menu is fairly limited, with just a handful of diner offerings including hamburgers, fish and chips, some sides and of course their namesake sandwich. I ordered a cheeseburger with the works (relish, mustard and onion), ketchup and mayo, and the same for the chickenburger, knowing that the sandwich is only chunks of chicken and might need the benefit of condiments to add flavour and moisture. After a short wait, my number is called out and I pick up my meal which comes in simple wax paper-ish sheaths. Given the old school nature of the restaurant, I didn't think they would be large sandwiches, and they definitely aren't. My choice of so many condiments actually overwhelms the meat on both of them, so I suggest paring down your choices. The burger isn't bad, but isn't the best - I don't think it's from frozen, but its a bit lacking in flavour and its own natural juices. In the future, I'll likely go with a double cheeseburger and just mustard and onions, to try and let the burger shine. The chickenburger, for anyone that doesn't know, is chunks of chicken, completely unbreaded and not in patty form. It's definitely better than the burger, with a distinct chicken flavour and not as dry as the burger, and it's kind of nice that it's its own unique thing.
Now that I've oddly tried the two newest location of The Chickenburger without trying the original, I'm going to have to find an excuse to mosey out to Bedford to complete the trifecta. The adventure continues....Listed in: The Great Halifax Burger Hunt

Review from Ben B.
Holy moly...twenty minutes for a burger and onion rings? That was definitely not what I was expecting after ten hours of travel time. I just needed to get me some grease and get the hell outta dodge. I'm hoping it was just because we arrived shortly before closing time but they just didn't seem to know what they were doing back there.
Four staff juggled around each other in the small space to handle all the closing duties as our food was cooking - often forgetting entirely about it, occasionally not knowing how to cook it (one shouted to another "do onion rings go in for XX minutes or XX minutes?"), and often just not considering it a priority over packing up the condiments.
I can't say I'll be back often but the onion rings were just what the doctor ordered and the burger drew rave reviews. I just don't have too much confidence in the staff nor their grasp on the 'fast food' concept. -

Was so happy to walk into Stanfield airport tired, hungry, and hungover and see the glistening lights of the Chicken Burger sparkle as I stopped heading towards security and started thinking about what to get on my sangwich.
I decided cranberry and mayonnaise since it's the holidays. I ordered a cheeseburger for good measure, too.
Certainly didn't decrease in quality from the original Bedford location - and although the small signature sandwich rings in at 3.95$ plus tax...it's worth it to treat yourself to two or three.
Throw in a milkshake and some onion rings (don't bother with the fries)...you're almost guaranteed to sleep that entire flight.Listed in: Halifax
