Review from Darren M.
Ottawa, ON
It's really neat how this building hasn't been touched given the prime location along the Rideau Canal where the historic waterway meets the Ottawa River.
It's a very old stone building which houses information and artifacts about Ottawa (formally known as Bytown). The Museum is heavy on the history of the canal which makes sense given the location of it and the role the site played in keeping Ottawa going.
The first and only time I was inside the structure I learned a few neat things about the early days in Ottawa but otherwise I thought it was a bit small which is no fault to the museum because the building is the original.
Admission is $6 which I didn't mind paying but I could see some people not feeling like it's worth the full cost but it keeps the place going! Parking is the biggest challenge since you can't park on Wellington or most of the surrounding streets.
It's mostly a place you just stop into if you're walking in the area but if you plan a trip to it do some research on where you can park before you end up driving around for an hour!
