I've been going to the bubble tea place for 5-6 years now and I have never been disappointed. Their huge flavor selection and ability to choose your own combination of flavors and bubbles/jellies is great.
Although I do find that the tea is very sweetened and flavored (lacking any taste of tea for the most part) I find that the flavoring is great for those weary or new to bubble tea. -

I absolutely loved this place. They use actual, legit tea. The woman who worked there was super helpful and gives great tips. There's an amazing selection (aside: while we were there a woman showed up who was so overwhelmed by the choice that she left haha).
I think they also have Thai massages and they sell some interesting knickknacks, like bamboo purses.
They have a giant picture of Mao in there, which is super cool. They keep the temperature quite nice and warm (especially by Victoria standards), which is useful when you want a chilled bubble tea. The seating is quite nice, so you can sit and have a chat there. My friend and I studied there, which the seating really wasn't meant for but it was useful to get out of the standard Starbucks/library routine we were in.
I definitely recommend this place, I can't stop thinking about the tea I got last week (it was under the tangy menu). I really need to go back! -

Bubble Tea is exotic. That's a fact, but The Bubble Tea Place goes all out with explosive flavor combinations. And they serve it up in your choice of fruit juice, milk or soy. Coconut-Almond sounded good. So I went with it. Not so explosive. It tasted a bit woodsy, but those tapioca marbles made it awesome. Also, they're into Thai Massage. I passed on those specials. The place is cool. The people are nice.

VERY different from the typical bubble tea place. Upon first walking into this place, I was both somewhat impressed and skeptical. It was way trendier than the bubble tea places I frequent, and by that I mean decorated with artsy modern paintings of Mao Zedong and buddhas instead of neon-colored Ikea lamps. The bathroom was exceptionally nicely decorated for a bubble tea place. There were trendy Asian trinkets for sale (not the cheap stuff typical of Chinatown). Everyone who worked there was white. I'm not racist, but I'm automatically skeptical of any bubble tea place that isn't run by an immigrant Chinese family with an angsty teenage daughter moping at the cash register.
I don't think they actually have any tea here! Strange since the most traditional bubble tea is milk tea with bubbles. I decided to get one of the "creamy" drinks (has dairy), Honey-Do-Me-Another (they have very creative names... "Sex with a Horny Old Man" is a bit much though, especially considering this is a preteen hangout and not a seedy bar). I got a "double" with both bubbles/pearls/boba and lychee jelly, not realizing that it would be an extra-large cup and that I could have just asked them to do half and half with a regular sized cup, which they offered my husband.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the first few sips of my honeydew drink (which I am pretty sure lacked any trace of tea) very enjoyable, especially with both the bubbles and lychee jelly. Then I took a sip of my husband's mango drink. UGH. GAG. It tasted more strongly of powder than any bad, powdery bubble tea I've ever had. When I tried to wash out the taste with my drink, I just kept tasting more powder. Before either of us had finished 1/4 of our drinks, we both started feeling sick. The remaining 3/4 of our drinks ended up in the trash. Maybe the gross powdery taste was from the "dairy" in our "creamy" drinks... so if you are set on trying this place out, you might be safer with a tangy drink. -

I'm not a bubble tea aficionado or purist, but I've quite enjoyed the offerings here the two times I've been.
Nice spacious shop, clean décor, quick service, too many flavour combination possibilities to count, plenty of speciality loose leaf teas for sale, giant menus for making your drink selection. I liked the Mai Thai although I could only drink about half of a double before setting it aside in the fridge for a while.
While I don't have a lot to compare it to, I've enjoyed my visits to The Bubble Tea Place. -

NO.
THIS IS THE WORST bubble tea I have ever tried.
It was EXTREMELY sweet and had a VERY artificial, VERY chemical taste and I stress the word very. I couldn't even finish half of it. Where are the real ingredients? I'm in the minority considering that everyone else gave 4/5 stars. And this place was pretty crowded so I thought it must be the bomb.
If you like drinks like KOOL-AID, Hi-C, or FRAPPUCINOS from Starbucks, you'll love this stuff. If you don't, forget about it.
PS: I know I'm whining like crazy, I apologize..please forgive me... Everyone else will probably give you five stars. I love the decor of the place. Very very pretty. I like the staff too. They are nice and friendly!Listed in: Places that may give you a…

This place was pretty good. They have tons of flavors and unlike more "bubble tea" places in Victoria this place is NOT just a chocolate/maple syrup/souvenier/bubble tea place. I think they ONLY serve bubble tea.
My one complaint is that including this place non of the places seem to blend the ice into more of the smoothie format.
Besides that the boba is great. AND when I was on my way out I asked the guy for more ice (because they didn't put enough in the first time) and he asked if I wanted more tea so I said "sure" then he also added more watermelon syrup too so basically I ended up with a free refill. -

This place is wonderful! I am sad that it took me so long to find this place after moving to Victoria.
I adore the decor of the place. I comes off with the "indie" look that many of the local merchants have given their own shops. It is a breath of fresh air compared to many other bubble tea shop I have been in, which are cramped and cluttered.
Quite fortunately, the staff are much more creative tea makers than restaurant namers. The tea flavours are very good. I would highly recommend the suggested flavour combinations on the menu. I had the cyclone last time round (Green Apple, Lemon and Cherry) which was wonderfully tart but not so much as to make it hard to drink.
The big thing that sets the BTP apart for me is how they handle coconut jelly and pearl. Firstly, they are the only place I have ever encountered which has flavours of coconut jelly. The flavours themselves are really good (the coconut flavour actually tastes like coconut. Secondly, they do jelly and pearl in nice large amounts. Each 'scoop' (you get 1 in a small, 2 in a large) is a heaping scoop with a serving spoon rather than the salad bar ladle I've come to expect from other places, which came as a very pleasant surprise.
It is well worth finding your way up into chinatown to see what they have. -

Coming from TO, I sort of miss bubble tea. The whole bubble tea cafe scene doesn't exist here. Anyway, I came here to get my fix. Their list of flavour combinations actually is really good... their actual bubble tea, is NOT.

Holy smokes, I can't believe I went so long without bubble tea! They have a ton of combinations of cream and "tangy" flavors to choose from on their menu, or you can create your own. I always get mine with extra boba for longer enjoyment. I suggest the bumble berry or Savannah peach tangy teas. Delicious!

I LOVE THEIR BUBBLE TEA! Bumbleberry is amazing. I go here as much as I can whenever I am in town.

I can't believe they have so many flavor combinations there. My friends in high school made me a boba/bubble tea/tapioca junkie and I've been hooked ever since. I've always had a penchant for lychee milk tea, and sadly I have yet to find a tea house in LA that serves it!! The lady was more than happy to brew me my favorite blend and it brought back fond memories of hanging out after school. Definitely a great find.
