It was my girl Mocha's birthday on Christmas Eve. She is a six year old cockapoo and I spoil her like crazy. I'd been promising her all week that I'd take her to the doggie bakery for her birthday so she could pick out a special treat. We'd never been before but I noticed that there are a couple of them in St. Albert.

You are welcome to bring your dog into the store on a leash. There was a big, rusty-blond lab whom I assume was the owners' dog that greeted us. Very friendly dog, but do NOT drop any treats. I thought I'd give Mocha a preview but it took her too long to decide whether or not to eat it and the lab swooped in. It was funny.

Mocha loved the store. They carry all sorts of dog food including bagged dry food, cans, even frozen meat. The bakery treats look good enough for human consumption and I learned that they have a few local bakers that they buy from. Ah, and if you're holding your dog up to sniff out the baked goods, you may not want to get too close because it is not behind glass.

They carry a few toys and I saw some dog jackets they were getting ready to put out.

The people are friendly, it's a local business. The prices are good. I got a few (3 for $1) candy cane cookies, a peanut butter cookie, and some kind of ostrich pepperoni stick for Mocha. She was very satisfied.

I was a regular customer at B&B, and so was shocked at the behaviour of the proprietress Nadia one day, who did not greet me, but just gave me a nasty look like "what do you want?"  I asked if she had received a dog kibble product she had given me a sample of, and she replied that she could not possibly bring that in only to have it sitting on the shelf.  I did not realize that retail stores need to pre-sell all their products!  What a bizarre answer.  The man there is consistently nice, so when, after processing my payment, Nadia just looked down with the same miserable look on her face, he offered to carry the large bag of kibble out for me.  I asked if something had happened to her, and he said she'd had trouble with suppliers, but did not apologize or ask me anything more about my experience.  That was a missed opportunity, and I'll never be back.  Nadia is the mainstay at the desk, so unless you enjoy the possibility of being barked at by someone other than your dog, I suggest you avoid this place like so much doggie doo.
